I feel like I'm saying this all the time but dude you're so well-spoken and you explain yourself so well. I usually watch beauty videos for entertainment and it's rare that I actually learn anything (except what to buy next haha) but with you I feel like I'm taking an online makeup course and it's great. Thank you !
RawBeautyKristi Yous twos need to colab! Hard. I think switching makeup bags would be so great since your routines are pretty different. Please grant my wish!!!
Gorgeous! I really appreciate the educational approach to your videos, you're very articulate when offering explanations and I have to say- you're so unique from other beauty gurus here on UA-cam because you've actually grown and developed in your approach and style of makeup application. We are all seeing soo many makeup channels here on UA-cam stuck in this full coverage rut! Love your inclusion of people with blemish prone skin as well! Xo we can all be glowing summer goddesses!!!🌟
Sorry this is the most rambly video of all time of what should be a 5 minute makeup tutorial, hopefully there’s no editing mistakes but I was falling asleep listening to my own voICE
I love how confident you’ve become recently with your skin!! You’ve honestly made me buy sooo many sheer products and I’m enjoying them so much so thank youuu❤️
May I just say as a new subscriber and “mature” viewer, your videos are incredibly affirmative and informative. Love your explanations and I’m a huge fan of simply, no nonsense makeup application.
I would love to see how you add to your makeup later in the day like you mentioned. I always feel like I have to wash my face off and start again when I go out at night.
You’ve inspired me SOO much within the past few years to be so much more confident in my skin. I’ve switched to more dolled up eyes and very sheer coverage on my skin and I just absolutely love the feeling of it. I am pretty oily so I’m still trying to experiment to find that perfect medium, but I absolutely LOVE these sheer looks sooo much and just rocking natural skin ☺️❤️
Shauna Love try using Estée Lauder double wear LIGHT foundation... you can buff in the tiniest amount in your tzone with a brush and it’s light/medium buildable coverage and it just completely keeps all shine away and doesn’t have that full coverage look!!!! You can even put other products or foundations on top and it still does the trick 😊
A MUA ACTUALLY GIVING MUA TIPS! I learned so much I can’t wait to try this. I recently bought the Nars sheer glow foundation. I hope it works bc Nars foundations are extremely patchy on me 😭
I am so glad to hear that no matter what you do, some form of separation, patchiness, etc. happens during the day!! I love the “less product/easier to maintain “ method. Life-changing!! I’m free!!
Sam I have to say I’ve always loved your channel but lately I’ve really really liked the direction it’s been going in. Your reviews are in depth, you’re still honest about products, and as a fellow no makeup/low coverage girl, it’s nice to see a UA-cam not cake it on. If you love full coverage go nuts but I find it hard to relate to tutorials sometimes! So thank you, keep being you, and your skin is looking so fantastic you rock that low coverage
I went from full coverage, all powders, baking, etc. To mac face & Body, minimal everything, no powder AT ALL. I adore creams now! You HAVE to try the milk makeup Blush + Lip sticks! I have "Werk" and it's SO beaaaautiful on the skin
yes, I did stop what I was doing to watch this yes, I did interact with the pre-video ad yes, I did like this video before I even watched it no, I have not received my care package from you yet
Thanks to you I've been using creams and this technique of using less product and spot concealing because I find that my makeup wears off nicely and gracefully now whereas before when I would use alot of products it would wear super fugly and make me look hella old and crusty and textured now I always look like I have naturally amazing skin. 😂
It’s mad to see how much product goes into a no-makeup, fresh, natural look! Great tutorial :) thank you! The word you were looking for in the beginning was “informative”, I gotchu!
TBH the video you made when you first talked about your journey into light coverage foundations was THE exact moment that I decided I loved you. I was subscribed to you before, but after that video I was like...dang...this girl is a delight.
I really appreciate you explaining everything! I watch a lot of beauty videos and people just say what they’re doing but don’t ever say why or what it does for the look. This video was hands down one of the most helpful videos I’ve seen in a long time. Thank you!
You’re informative, funny, blunt, and gorgeous. How are you not more popular!? I’ve been following you since your red hair days back in the batalash days. It blows my mind that you haven’t exploded like some other youtubers who are fake and unimformative and don’t post regularly.
I seriously love u it’s so refreshing to have a UA-camr who actually has something to teach about makeup beyond “ contour here highlight there” u actually have justifiable opinions and explanations and ur gorg and hilarious
I wasn't expecting the Charlotte Tilbury Filter to have that much of an effect. Wow - game changer! Love your whole philosophy on light coverage. This is such a beautiful fresh look.
You could make a highly detailed instructional video on a topic I'm not even remotely interested in, nor would I ever do, and I would still be here with my snacks watching with full attention and interest. I LOVE when you do these videos because you take the time to explain how and why you do things, both the artistic and technical side, and it really shows that you care about us(and our ability to look as flawless and glowing as we so desire). Thank you for all your time and effort, you are much appreciated. LOVE YOU!
I’m so glad you explained how studio lights and on camera those certain looks appear flawless. Cause most of the time I get so mad at how my makeup never looks like the artist I watch!
full coverage is great but for the past couple months ive been loving light coverage. I suffered from HORRID cystic acne and now that my skin has cleared (accutane) I see no need to wear full coverage. Feels amazing to wear light coverage! Feels fresh
Wow, great video full of advices! It is the first of your videos i see and...sold! Revolutionary in the world of full glam beauty gurus..thanks from Italy🙏
So refreshing to see someone doing this type of look. At 35 years old I'm really coming to a point in my life where certain makeup techniques just age the shit out of me. You and @rawbeautyKristi have really helped me feel confident in my skin again with a fresh dewy makeup look. Love it so much ❤️
My slightly affordable alternative is to just mix strobe cream (or moisturizer) into my medium coverage foundation to make it luminous and give the light coverage look! I honestly think one good foundation can do it all
I found your channel by accident this morning and all I can say is wow! This is probably the most information makeup/application video I think I have EVER seen! I learned so many new techniques in just one video. Thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge with us and I can’t wait to watch more of your videos!
HVe u ever watched Zabreba? Oh lort. I can’t handle it I swear she gives herself multiple concussions putting foundation and concealer on...I can’t even watch her because of how agressive she is with her beauty blender.
Because when you watch her videos, you're kind of looking at her with the underlying assumption that she knows what she's doing and she's going to be able to pull anything off. I'm sure honestly it does look good on you to anyone else on the street who sees you, you're just a lot more critical when looking at yourself in the mirror
I feel like this is part of that "the grass is always greener" mentality... people want what they don't have. I always go for a dewy look (similar to Sam) because my skin is dry as hell and I think it makes me look better and healthier. Oily people want to look less oily, dry people want to look less dry. We look at ourselves and are more critical of ourselves than we are of others.
You're always one step ahead in the game. This is why I love your videos so much. This is exactly what I've been I to lately, thank you for all the great advice.
You are the guru I needed! I’m a light coverage kind of girl and I struggle with loving watching tutorials but not being able to apply them to my own life... you are the one I’ve been looking for!
This is everything I've ever wanted in a day to day look and an awesome class on application for this style. I've even been eyeing (or own) a majority of the products used. That Illume Trio will be my "you've panned these products" reward to myself. The world needed this tutorial.
Honestly I love your more talkative videos. The biggest reason that I subscribed to your channel and have continued watching for years is because of your ability to articulate exactly what you're doing, how you're doing it, and why you're doing it. Every once in a while it's nice to watch the beauty bloggers who just sit down and do a look, but I've always appreciated and loved that you actually TEACH. Girl, years ago you taught me the difference between using a black or white base under eye shadows and my world was rocked. Thank you
After being on retin-a for a few months my skin is not only mostly acne free for the first time since I was 10, the texture and condition of my skin is arguably better than it's been since then as well. I've never been big on foundation but I've usually worn it to cover up all the acne and redness I dealt with. Even though I still have breakouts now and then and my skin has some redness in spots, I think it'd be such a shame to cover up the natural radiance I've finally been able to achieve at 30. I've been playing around with a lot of products, mostly liquid/cream which I've not worked with much before, to achieve a look that is 'polished' without covering ME up. This was a perfect tutorial for techniques I can use to help me in my process. Thank you so much for talking through your steps and explaining everything so well. I'm a more recent follower but I've been soaking up all of your videos because you freaking rock!
I can say it now, you are my favourite. Period. This video was so informative in showing the correct approach to perfecting the everyday makeup routine everyone has the time for. The end result is effortlessly flawless and I should say your whole personality is effortlessly flawless as well.
I LOVE how much you're encouraging natural makeup and embracing our natural skin lately. I also love how informative your tutorials have been! You look beautiful!
Sam I think this may be my favourite ever look on you!! The make up, the hair and the confidence 😆 to me you have such a unique perspective on make up, you don't play into the fads for views, you keep it super real and it's why I've followed you since day one! X
So, I was about to apply my full coverage mix with my brush but first I was gonna dot it on (smear it on) and right as I was about to, you're like "So, we're gonna dip our brush in and start in the center" so I go 😮 and then I dipped my brush and started in the center lol. I love this video! I go back & forth with full coverage and dewy. I am still trying to find combos that I like but aside from all that, you have SOLD me on cream contour and blush! I never really knew how to blend them or make them look natural and I was worried I'd end up messing up my foundation but this looks totally achievable and now I want to go out and get something! Love your videos, Sam. You're one of maybe three influencers I watch and I've been following for years! ❤
Thank you for taking the time to explain everything so well! I feel like a lot of times, some youtubers forget that most viewers are not experts at all and they forget to explain why they’re doing things a certain way.
Do you know of any dupes for the Glossier skin tint? I want the sheerest coverage, really just something to even out the redness my skin occasionally has but with a less expensive price point. Thank you for this video. Dew is love, dew is life. Also a huge thank you for the less is more tactic, I was shying away from watching BGs on UA-cam because I could never relate to the full coverage foundations and concealers. Most people seem to be going with the trend of blanking out everything on their faces and carving out new ones for themselves. It made me feel as though I was applying my makeup incorrectly. This is refreshing and truly a beautiful look to feel comfortable in. Everything you said in this video I wholeheartedly agree with, thank you, Sam.
Just ‘discovered’ you a few days ago and immediately subscribed. Digging your vibes. You seem super honest and real, which is rare and so refreshing. Just wanted to let you know, stay real, you’re appreciated, don’t change, don’t sell out.
I absolutely LOVED this look and whole video. Granted, I love all your videos lol but love seeing you uploading more often. Also, fun fact: I’ve been an OG subscriber and I remember searching high and low for those Glamcor brushes when you first spoke about them and it took forever to find them but was so worth the investment. I still use 4 of the 5 to this day!😬😍💕
I want you to know i love it when you explain all of the things in your videos. It makes a better consumer and more importantly it makes my face look dope AF when i do my own make up since I'm not a makeup artist. Keep up the good work. Thank you
You have transformed the way I do my makeup because of this video! Thank you for making me realize that I don’t need to cover up my whole face in makeup. I’ve really enjoyed watering down my foundation with moisturizer and looking more dewy and natural. I absolutely love watching your videos. You’re a breath of fresh air amongst all of these other influencers. Thank you for being you!!
Ugh woman this is the greatest. I love these down-to-earth, educational videos! I agree that less-is-more. I've been trying to wear less makeup lately because I get so irritated with my full coverage products start to break up.
I remember, years ago, watching you applying a full-coverage foundation way darker than your skintone (because you had a fake tan on the rest of your body), and you looked really good, don't get me wrong. But it's so nice to see you've changed to much lighter and natural coverage, you look radiant and beautiful. Thanks for the very informative video, will try to use you tips in my own routine. Now unto finding a light coverage foundation that works for my very oily skin!
I love that you are an advocate for "less is more". I really dislike the feeling of makeup on my face, let alone a lot of full coverage foundation. I think you're technique is absolutely beautiful! Thanks for the great video
I truly love your videos. You’re educational and have an amazing personality. I love that you’re different. Makeup is an art and there’s more to it than studio makeup. Let’s not limit ourselves.
"Dewy skin is the pinnacle of health." I couldn't agree more. I don't understand the obsession with a completely matte face, it honestly makes people look like corpses.
I like a demi-matte finish. I have very oily skin, so dewy looks turn greasy very quickly on me once my face starts producing it's natural oils. But I do agree that a completely matte finish doesn't look quite right. I'm lucky that even if I overpowder and look too matte, my greasy ass skin will look shiny in an hour or two lol.
Sam Darling! You look stunning! Since watching you, I've been trying to be more confident in my own skin. Using less foundation and what not. This video is very informative. Kutos to you! Hope your having a fabulous day! ❤
Wow!! I so agree with you! I'm 50 years old. I'm a retired hairstylist, whom also did facials. This is how I have ALWAYS done my base... Most people think a full coverage will make there blemishes look better. When in reality it just focuses on them.. I've only watch 2 of your videos but, I can say you are so refreshing..look forward to watching you in the future!
that was one of your best videos! loved how you explained everything and still got that very natural and actual wearable makeup! and your skin looks amazing!!
I am a stay at home mom of two boys and I love this video.. i am saving for these items.. I haven’t worn makeup in forever but cannot wait to try this application to look put together without trying to hard!!
Ok. I have been waiting to find a beauty blogger like you. Lol. You’re my spirit animal, this video has solidified that. Permanent follower now!!!! Thanks!
The brush I used was the Glamcor foundation brush!
Samantha Ravndahl hey any word on why smith cosmetics removed some of their brushes? I’ve seen people ask about them and they never respond.
Is it similar to the MAC 130 brush?
I still remember your first video EVER. I’m an OG 😩😁😁😁
The lighting company? Can't find the brush babe
Which one? There are a few!
I feel like I'm saying this all the time but dude you're so well-spoken and you explain yourself so well. I usually watch beauty videos for entertainment and it's rare that I actually learn anything (except what to buy next haha) but with you I feel like I'm taking an online makeup course and it's great. Thank you !
Seriously I’m so glad you said “Makeup comes off...it’s not skin, it’s makeup”.... everyone needs to know this. 🙌🏼
Killing it with the uploads! LOVE THEM KEEP 'EM COMIN!!
I need a collab asap 😭 I love you both so much ❤
RawBeautyKristi Yous twos need to colab! Hard. I think switching makeup bags would be so great since your routines are pretty different. Please grant my wish!!!
This is one of my favorite friendships on youtube. You guys are so cute and supportive of each other
Hej iam commem from rawbeautykristi s channel :)

Sorry this is the most rambly video of all time of what should be a 5 minute makeup tutorial, hopefully there’s no editing mistakes but I was falling asleep listening to my own voICE
but it was so educational that i didn't even feel bad taking a break from studying for finals. Im learning still right? lol
Samantha Ravndahl dont apologize, these are the best videos ever! I seriously refer back to these type of videos all the time.
What kind of brush is she using for foundation? I don’t think she mentioned it in the video or description box
not rambly, very informative A++
It was perfect! We’ve been schooled! And this is what sets you apart. Keep the education coming.
You are truly the best teacher and explainer I’ve ever seen.
I love how confident you’ve become recently with your skin!! You’ve honestly made me buy sooo many sheer products and I’m enjoying them so much so thank youuu❤️
OMG the CT filter.........I’m gonna need to douse. You look so radiant and amazing!
Mariah Leonard it is fucking bomb dude you will dig it
Mariah Leonard you 2 need to do a collab on dewy glossy look products!! I’d just die I love you two ladies!!!!!!
What shade does she use?
I needed a happy thing today. You're my happy thing. Thank you! You never know who you lift up! Much love!
Melissa Duckett me too ❤️❤️
May I just say as a new subscriber and “mature” viewer, your videos are incredibly affirmative and informative. Love your explanations and I’m a huge fan of simply, no nonsense makeup application.
I would love to see how you add to your makeup later in the day like you mentioned. I always feel like I have to wash my face off and start again when I go out at night.
What a gift you have! You are a natural born teacher! Thank you for explaining things so clearly!
Taylor Thornton I definitely will try that thank you sooo much!! ☺️
A MUA ACTUALLY GIVING MUA TIPS! I learned so much I can’t wait to try this. I recently bought the Nars sheer glow foundation. I hope it works bc Nars foundations are extremely patchy on me 😭
holy youtube content. proud of you and this is my fav type of look!!
Kristen Rutland iiiiiiiiiiiiii
Kristen Rutland vvm
I went from full coverage, all powders, baking, etc. To mac face & Body, minimal everything, no powder AT ALL. I adore creams now! You HAVE to try the milk makeup Blush + Lip sticks! I have "Werk" and it's SO beaaaautiful on the skin
"Welcome, I'm gonna mix all this shit." Oh this is why we love you Sam!!!!! Good to see you!
You couldn’t look more gorgeous! You’re skin is looking FABULOUS! Love you Sam!
yes, I did stop what I was doing to watch this
yes, I did interact with the pre-video ad
yes, I did like this video before I even watched it
no, I have not received my care package from you yet
Ramble on girl, you’re one of the best beauty youtubers by far. I learn so much from each of your videos. Thank you!!!
Thanks to you I've been using creams and this technique of using less product and spot concealing because I find that my makeup wears off nicely and gracefully now whereas before when I would use alot of products it would wear super fugly and make me look hella old and crusty and textured now I always look like I have naturally amazing skin. 😂
So nice to hear someone talk about realistic complexion.
Ive been loving seeing you more on UA-cam lately!

Emily Granier it’s because if she was too famous there would be no good product on the market. her power to discontinue must be contained.
This explanation killed me.
I seriously love u it’s so refreshing to have a UA-camr who actually has something to teach about makeup beyond “ contour here highlight there” u actually have justifiable opinions and explanations and ur gorg and hilarious
Girl, you are our boo thang. You always give us options. Take care. You ROCK.
This is actually one of the best and most useful makeup tutorials on the internet, thanks so much Sam!
I like the education!! But I also like sarcasm.
A mix of both is amazing with me.
I wasn't expecting the Charlotte Tilbury Filter to have that much of an effect. Wow - game changer! Love your whole philosophy on light coverage. This is such a beautiful fresh look.
glowiest most informational sweet angelic ray of sunshine
You could make a highly detailed instructional video on a topic I'm not even remotely interested in, nor would I ever do, and I would still be here with my snacks watching with full attention and interest. I LOVE when you do these videos because you take the time to explain how and why you do things, both the artistic and technical side, and it really shows that you care about us(and our ability to look as flawless and glowing as we so desire). The foundation breakdown you did is so helpful. What you like and for what reason, pros and cons, etc. Really loved that!
Feels fresh

You are seriously so informative. We're not just watching you do your makeup, we're literally learning from you. You're the best.
This ENTIRE video 👏👏👏👏 I love that you are addressing having realistic expectations of makeup!
My slightly affordable alternative is to just mix strobe cream (or moisturizer) into my medium coverage foundation to make it luminous and give the light coverage look! I honestly think one good foundation can do it all
Love that you take the time to explain the reasoning behind the different methods. Great video.
I'm loving all of these videos!! I've been loving the more natural skin look too--it feels so refreshing!

I learned so many new techniques in just one video. Thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge with us and I can’t wait to watch more of your videos!
Thank you for “bouncing” your beauty blender and not “pouncing” lol
Tania Waller 🤣lolz
Fucking finally someone said it
That always makes me irrationally angry
HVe u ever watched Zabreba? Oh lort. I can’t handle it I swear she gives herself multiple concussions putting foundation and concealer on...I can’t even watch her because of how agressive she is with her beauty blender.
Both are accurate words to use actually.
Omg the way u explain the techniques is so good and helpful! Couldn’t every “beauty guru” do this like you do
Why does the oily look look so good on you but when it’s me I look like I just ran a mile, & rubbed a fish on my face
Because when you watch her videos, you're kind of looking at her with the underlying assumption that she knows what she's doing and she's going to be able to pull anything off. I'm sure honestly it does look good on you to anyone else on the street who sees you, you're just a lot more critical when looking at yourself in the mirror
Omg girl😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 i am literally dying😂😂😂😂😂 “rubbed a fish on my face😂😂😂😂😂😂
I feel like this is part of that "the grass is always greener" mentality... people want what they don't have. I always go for a dewy look (similar to Sam) because my skin is dry as hell and I think it makes me look better and healthier. Oily people want to look less oily, dry people want to look less dry. We look at ourselves and are more critical of ourselves than we are of others.
All about the placement. Less is more
This comment made my life complete 😂
You're always one step ahead in the game. This is why I love your videos so much. This is exactly what I've been I to lately, thank you for all the great advice.
Your skin looks so good
You are the guru I needed! I’m a light coverage kind of girl and I struggle with loving watching tutorials but not being able to apply them to my own life... you are the one I’ve been looking for!
Wow look at this consistent quality content
I love love love your humour and how much detail you talk about with every product you mention which is so helpful for me! xxx
Thank you SO much for posting more regularly!!! Always been my fave since Reddit!!!
I just love your rawness! You're just so you and aren't afraid of that! Definitely one of my favorite people to watch! 🌻
I almost cried watching this. You just told me everything I’ve been needing to hear.
This is everything I've ever wanted in a day to day look and an awesome class on application for this style. I've even been eyeing (or own) a majority of the products used. That Illume Trio will be my "you've panned these products" reward to myself. The world needed this tutorial.

I LOVE how much you're encouraging natural makeup and embracing our natural skin lately. I also love how informative your tutorials have been! You look beautiful!
i love my best friend that’s not really my best friend
Sam I think this may be my favourite ever look on you!! The make up, the hair and the confidence 😆 to me you have such a unique perspective on make up, you don't play into the fads for views, you keep it super real and it's why I've followed you since day one! X

Thank you
OK CONTENT!! I stan my ultra profesh and regimented you tuber

"You're hugging pals..."
Idk why but this killed me. 😂

You seem much more confident and comfortable in your videos lately, I'm loving it. I hope good things are going on for you!

Sam I am loving all the uploads!!! Yay!
Btw u are the very first beauty youtuber I ever watched back in 2013 which started my obsession w markup. Still love everything u do!
I truly love your videos. You’re educational and have an amazing personality. I love that you’re different. Makeup is an art and there’s more to it than studio makeup. Let’s not limit ourselves.
"Dewy skin is the pinnacle of health." I couldn't agree more. I don't understand the obsession with a completely matte face, it honestly makes people look like corpses.
human or machine? 🤣🤣🤣 "makes people look like corpses" I'm with you on that
I like a demi-matte finish.
It makes people look older 😂
I love how in depth you went in this tutorial. You are a great teacher!!
Sam Darling! You look stunning! Since watching you, I've been trying to be more confident in my own skin. Using less foundation and what not. This video is very informative. Kutos to you! Hope your having a fabulous day! ❤
You are just the most refreshing artist, thank you for taking the time to walk us through why this technique works. 🙌🏻
Your thumbnail pic is everything!
The internet NEEDED this video! Thank you for posting and being the voice of true makeup wisdom. You are an angel!!
Loved this video.
What shade are you in mac face and body?
Finally a realistic non Instagram makeup tutorial ! Love you Sam 💜
that was one of your best videos! loved how you explained everything and still got that very natural and actual wearable makeup! and your skin looks amazing!!
Can I get some dupes for the Charlotte Tillbury illuminating primer?
I am a stay at home mom of two boys and I love this video.. i am saving for these items.. I haven’t worn makeup in forever but cannot wait to try this application to look put together without trying to hard!!
Video idea: favorite cream products!
Ok. I have been waiting to find a beauty blogger like you. Lol. You’re my spirit animal, this video has solidified that. Permanent follower now!!!! Thanks!
