I bought your book jiu jitsu university sir! I am blessed. Now, i understand jiu jitsu more. Before, i was just rolling without a game plan. And i just did what i thought made sense. Reading your book makes me a better grappler
If they get on top they are probably gonna pound you and there will probably be with 5 or more of their friends - How do you deal with that and throwing in kicks and punches to the head? Better do it really quick!
take it easy its a sport and its a good escape when grappling 1 on 1 with someone. If 5 friends are coming to kick your ass and they are big athletic 200+ pounders iit dont matter if you are saulo or chuck norris. You are probably getting mauled
Really?? What about the fact that you are giving up your back, allowing a 1000 other chokes? I sometimes feel like videos like this are meant to keep White Belts at White Belt level only.
I'm not sure if he's stupid or not (he has won several competitions), but I definitely think that he does not preach the right things, maybe because he does not want to share his "good" tricks. For e.g. I bought a book by him called "BJJ University" in which he has proposed an escape to Triangle choke. I have tried that defense several times and it is so fundamentally flawed that it never works. So the set-up is that someone has you in a triangle lock (and you have your right hand caught), the solution he proposed (to defend against the triangle choke) is that you should put (or creep) your right leg behind the guy's back and stack him up (to the left). Problem with this approach: Firstly: 99% of the times, the person (triangle choking you) will under-hook that right leg and you will end up being in a bigger trouble. Secondly: If he does not under-hook you, then also, you are going way lower to put your leg behind his back and that only makes the choke stronger. All-in-all it NEVER works. SOLUTION: The only solution to triangle choke that I have seen work is to keep your back straight. Probably he should have put that in the book...
+Sidharth Sharma I really hope you're just trolling... "he [Saulo Riberio] has won several competitions" you can say that: Saulo is a 5 time world champion and 2 time ADCC champion... And honestly it's not his fault if you don't pay attention to what you read and thus can't effectively use the content of his book. For instance, if you do that escape as described there is now way you'll get your leg underhook: you're supposed to put your knee on their stomac/ribs to pin their hips to the mat and cut their angle (thus, your shin should be against their side leaving no space to hook your leg). Secondly that would be making the choke weaker and not tighter like your saying. Learn to read.
I hope you understand the difference between trolling and expressing one's opinion. Also, there is no need to get personal ("Learn to read"), I am not talking about you. It's a free country... It could be the way I understood or played the move, or not, but regardless it is my opinion. I hope whoever reads the comments keeps these things in mind while rolling.

Thank you very much. How do you keep from getting your top arm attacked when you're on your side?
T-Rex
Got a tournament this sat, thanks for helping!
The best mount defense!
Thanks Saulo. Very clear and helpful lesson.
Thank you for the book and the videos
Explicações muito boas. Very good explanations
If they start pounding they give space to escape quicker. Standing up after escaping is very easy.
nice beat at the end too
Very nice!
Saolo is my favorite…
Sound advice👍
What if you turn to already be in position and they go to take your back?
Don't let them get the underhook; keep your elbows tight to your body.
muito esclarecedor! Oss!
Jesus thank you
rafael dos anjos is a traineur now
Yadier MOlina

Lol, on top of you sweating and not smelling good, been in position

+Sidharth Sharma you're not giving your back if you are framing with your elbow correctly. It's BJJ 101 and used from white to black belt.
+Sidharth Sharma Saulo is so stupid when it comes to BJJ
