I mean, if you want an actual answer: you can see that they don't have any ear piece in nor do they have any form of ear protection. Have you ever tried talking at a concert when the volume is on max? Or have you ever tried to talk to someone while they were in the kitchen blending something? It's incredibly difficult to be able to regulate your pitch, tone, and volume when you are unable to hear yourself clearly - couple that with the use of dynamic microphones which already dull the sound to prevent the music from bleeding into it - you're going to have to shout to feel like you are actually being heard. Now, if they had an earpiece in - it would have the backing track, possibly their vocals with a few milliseconds of delay so they can hear themselves, and someone giving them a countdown to keep them on course for the song which will help them stay on point, track properly, and sing better. Simply put - they were just thrown on stage with microphones while the DJ has the songs blaring for the crowd. Nearly impossible for them to be deliver the performance you are looking for; but what you are looking for is also not what the Boiler Room is going for. Boiler Room, as I understand, is more DJ focused and the live performances for artists are more of a bonus that they'll throw on to keep up the energy and get the crowd more hyped. Nothing wrong with that - it's just you got to understand that different shows have different goals and, for this one in particular, vocal performance isn't the main priority.
