The Prestolites are known to be problematic. A proven fix is to put it in a warm oven (200°F) for a couple of hours. A couple of UA-cam channels show this. It worked for me too. Try it.
And having said that out of the 18 saws I have with blue coils only had 3 that needed attention, I'm guessing the dry climate where I live helps, I baked them it worked but still put husky coils in them
This video did two things-okay three. 1)remind me that I want an XL 76 or ten. 2)that you lust the Husqvarna 55 coil. 3)that we need to get together when you get back and run chainsaws more!!!!
I haven't, I believe they are a different design , but is doesn't hurt to try..I'll talk to some people and see if I can get more info on a replacement
I always take at least three saws. Two for the bigger stuff, and something for the small stuff. Even my limbing saws have a twenty inch bar. I don't like bending over.
What is the thing with the camera view? The beginning of the vid show the flywheel side on left and then the vid pauses and the flywheel appears to then be on the right side!
If you do decide to make any brackets I would definitely be interested. I have a SXL with the blue coil, but it’s hanging in there so far. My previous post indicated that this fix worked perfectly with my SEZs. I have another one to repair but I don’t have coil to use the laminations from. Any chance any body as a dead one?
Hey Heming Peterborough ON,. Cool, I still have a 1980 Troy built cultivator from them when we lived in Young’s Point!.
Used the Husqvarna coil on a couple Super EZs and it worked perfectly!
Thanks

I have done that too, but if it's a saw you expect to work why risk a coil that has already stopped working once? Chances are it will happen again

Cooked one it worked for a year,
Recooked it only lasted a day. FYI
Great video!

I used one of these coils on a pioneer p38. Worked great. Now wondering if it would work on a P 51. Have you tried the coil on a p51 pioneer?

Would this also work with the Super XL Auto and XL-12 saws?
Yes
@@chainsawcanuck thanks for the info. I have a Super XL Auto that I’m putting together and it has a bad blue coil.

I hear ya, 24-28" bars I find perfect and so much easier on the back
Stand Up and Buck ,Billy says !
Might do that on a super xl I just got
Great info.

Front facing camera always is backwards, then I flipped it
I done that to a vi130!
Is the black Prestolite coil the same as the blue? My SEZ has points and PRESTOLITE is on the spark plug wire.
The black ones are for the points setup

I would like some brackets. Please contact me…I have a lot of XL’s with no spark. Probably coil. Thanks, Bruce
You should make a few extra brackets and sell them... I would be interested in a couple depending on price.
Was actually contemplating making a drawing for the laser cutter at work, if I ever do I'd just send them out for shipping
@@chainsawcanuck Please do it! Sign me up.
Have yo thought anymore about making these brackets? I sure could use one...
Will this coil work on a super mini? Or do you know of a replacement coil that does?
If yours has the blue prestolite it will
