60 Minutes, the most successful American television broadcast in history, began its 52nd season in September. Offering hard-hitting investigative reports, interviews, feature segments and profiles of people in the news, the broadcast began in 1968 is still a hit in 2020. 60 Minutes makes Nielsen’s weekly Top 10 nearly every week and was the #1 weekly television broadcast three times last season.
The program still averages more than 10 million viewers, more than double the audience of its nearest network news magazine competitor. The average audience for a 60 Minutes broadcast is 150% higher than those of the network morning news programs; the audience dwarfs the number of viewers drawn by the most popular cable news programs.
About a million more people listen to the 60 Minutes radio simulcast in several major cities and on its companion podcast. Tens of thousands each week experience 60 Minutes online. The broadcast’s segments can be watched at 60Minutes.com and on the CBS All Access app. Its webcast, 60MinutesOvertime.com, offers content originally produced for the web, including behind-the-scenes video about the production of 60 Minutes stories and timely archival segments.
60 Minutes has won every major broadcast award. Its 25 Peabody and 150 Emmy awards are the most won by any single news program. It has also won 20 duPont-Columbia University journalism awards. Other distinguished journalism honors won multiple times include the George Polk, RTDNA Edward R. Murrow, Investigative Reporters and Editors, RFK Journalism, Sigma Delta Chi and Gerald Loeb awards.
60 Minutes premiered on CBS September 24, 1968. Bill Owens is the program’s executive producer. The correspondents and contributors of 60 Minutes are Sharyn Alfonsi, Anderson Cooper, John Dickerson, Norah O’Donnell, Scott Pelley, Lesley Stahl, Bill Whitaker and L. Jon Wertheim.
The president of Iran schooled our American reporter so well he laughed at himself!!
Reporter is a joke.!!
You idiots are siding with an anti-semitic nutjob over a journalist.

Well in that region of the world Israel should not be looked at as a religious group for sympathy. Israel was the aggressor in taking part of Palestine to create its own state. Israel was like the old colonial imperialist European powers. Israel had the power and went in Palestine and took it.
That's what the Iranian president is saying. But the state of Israel concept was a response to what happened to jews in Germany( Holocaust) and many years of Jews being discriminated against in Europe.
But the state of Israel is the aggressor in this situation in Palestine.
One should not lump all Jews across the world for what the State of Israel has done to the Palestinian people. But Jews did need to protect themselves.
@@phillyguy2157 Everything you've just said is factually. Let's ignore the fact that there has never been an independant sole Arab nation called Palestine before and it was the Arab leaders who attacked Jews first in the beginning of the Aran Israeli war in 1948. Israel isnothing like the colonialist Imperial powers of Europe. For instance Jews immigrated to the Levant to escape oppression and many were refugees. The did not go there to exploit or conquor the natives for the purpose of acquire raw materials because they believed they were racial superior.
@@NugicusStreetPhotography
The European imperialist take land because land is the basis of independence!! That's what the State of Israel did! Just like in the USA whites took land without respect to native American people wether they directly occupied it or not. The state of Israel's leaders were seen as foriengers coming into Palestine in numbers settling in. That land belonged to them.
But you see it differently because you have favor to the state of Israel and think like an imperialist.
This has nothing to do with white supremacists like in Germany and the Nazis. This has nothing to do with resources of the land . It's the land itself that was taken by foriengers ( state of Israel) that the Palestinian people resist against. The State of Israel saw that the Palestinian people could not defend their land so those Jewish leaders had no respect for them.
This reporter should be a comedian having the audacity to say George Bush was a “very religious man”😂
Actually Mr. Bush is religious, the reporter is saying the fact if you guys don't know Mr. Bush's believes then nothing has to do with the reporter's statement.
@@alansd.3663 The religious person that murdered or should I say genocided 2 million people in Iraq, a country that jad nothing to do with 9/11 as he himself admitted.

Looks like you dont understand what religious man mean in iran....
He is religious, it's just that he is not christian
Lol
It’s time for Afghanistan and Iraq to send forces to restore peace in the USA.
That's funny
For many years I have wondered why international aid agencies are not working with the poor and destitute in the USA and having international disasyer relief fund raising appeals by organizations such as the red cross. I have wondered why international Christian organizations are not riding around the USA on bicycles like mormons do everywhere else, but to preach peace, human rights, and alternatives to corrupted governments that sacreligously use prayer before voting on illegal wars to steal resources from other countries.
😂😂😂
Try it lol.
😂😂😂😂😂😂
This reporter sounds like a US prosecutor LOL I’m dying
Ja ! But a prosecutor in front of the judge !
"for Israel!" - battle cry of American journalist
Fun fact. He was in law school once, dropped out before mid exam. And president mahmoud face reminded him of his lawschool lecturer who flunked him
Man he is literally a humble guy ' if it was us would had smashed the skull of the tone of the guy at his tone "
These guys took a lot from us yet still love to accuse others and blame trying to submit others to them.
No way he just let them talk to him this way and let them go.
Kinda angry at the iraen presdnt for letting them act this way.

I love his smile he try so hard to get him angry

@@NugicusStreetPhotography You need a map then because you must be lost
If the reporter was better educated, he could've very easily dismantled some of the nonsense. For example "I am Muslim, I'm not allowed to lie"
Anybody familiar with the Qur'an, the Hadith or Sira knows that Muslims are permitted to lie in MANY circumstances and Muhammad lied countless times in order to orchestrate the deaths of his enemies.

@@NugicusStreetPhotography only when they were threatened
Normally these reporters don't dare to question the American presidents this way, instead they try these arrogant questions on leaders of countries they don't like.
Just check who owns all their Media
It's natural and normal to ask follow-up questions if the interviewee is being evasive. Just look at MA's face when asked about the bomb - too cowardly to answer.
They only did it to Trump
And Trump.
They really gave the president the voice of an anxious teenager
Lol yeah fr they knew what they were doing when they picked him
Yep, it's designed to make his responses harder to understand. US media do the same thing commonly with Vladimir Putin. They translate his words using a Russian Bond movie Villain voice.
An important point to illuminate, he actually has a macho, smoky voice from the bits I hear through the twenty-something translators speech.
The US Reporter getting mad at the Iranian president for smiling makes it more funnier. 😂😂
“President” is a strong term for what he was he held no actual power all power lies with the ayatollah Iran is a theocracy

As an American, I have to say that this former Iranian president conducted himself extremely well in this interview.
Respect to a true leader. Iran should be proud of him serving them.
As a native farsi speaker, I should say that the translator does not translate everything that the President is saying. He just ignores some important parts of his speech which cause misunderstanding.
Really ? I never even thought about that possibility, but I believe there is a narrative the U.S. would want. I never saw this interview until now an surprisingly it appears quite a bit of Americans liked his answers. I saw the interview with Ayatollah Khomeini and it was not like this. They had to submit their questions before hand and some were said to be unacceptable. They even said if there were any crazy or silly questions that the translator would not even translate them. Here it's clear that Ahmadinejad is very clever and a controlled man. The reporter tried to get a rise out of him, but he couldn't.
The interpreter did a good job by conveying the meaning and manner. doing simultaneous interpretation is way harder than what you think as a native farsi speaker. The fact that he was dancing around the question can not be a good excuse to blame the interpreter.
no his translation is not gd..
😂 other Farsi speakers disagree fake
Are Agha. Sometimes a whole phrase, apart from his elementary level of vocab to convey the actual meaning
The more I see this guy speaking the more he catches my ears. I think we’re fighting the wrong enemy.
He's very charismatic n classy, looks like he could've been in actor or something
Our governments lies about everything
Are you that gullible? He has charisma only if you dont know who he is and what he has done for the last 20 years. I would rather have the grim manner of Khomeini telling western journalists what they dont want to hear than this guys bs.
hjhahahhahah Ahmadinejad a name I heard a lot of as a kid but had no clue who he was,
watching interviews he is very charismatic demands respect by his charming personality , lately the last 2 have been more conservative and more authoritarian as Iran has grown in power or suffered greater sanctions.
brother the enemy is a ghost . Ask veterans returning from iraq and Afghanistan if they found the enemy , the same answer lays here
Wow. So respectful iranian leader. You got support from Europe. Lets union the world instead of divide
Thats laughable the eu is controlled by the us are you blind
@@868freeman8 I agree they are completely ruled by America
Muslims don't wish for unification. Same as Jews. Both religions wish to rule over the rest. Jews wish to control the world as the chosen people. Muslims wish to rid the world of non-muslims. Hinduism and Sikhism too.
Christianity and Buddhism are the only major faiths who do not seek superiority over the rest.
he sees 9/11 victims in the same light as people of Iraq , Afghanistan and Syria ,all victims of same greedy enemy .in that way his request to visit ground zero was sincere .
He was so charismatic, smart and could own anyone with gentleness. Far better than any US president within last few decades.
The arrogance of the reporter is astonishing
the reporter is a total clown
As an American I agree. Pathetic.
That’s a reporter’s job. What did you expect ?
That's typical American nature
"for Israel!" - battle cry of American journalist
Great leader 🇮🇷
Wow the arrogance of this reporter is crazy
That smile is killing 😅😅
In 2022 this is becoming more relevant that ever...
I am a Muslim and I can’t lie. That’s strong islamic ideology. Respect 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I have nothing against Islam specifically, but this is completely false and ironically he is lying. Taqiyya allows for lying in Islam, especially to non-muslims. If they believe that the sin of the lie is justifiable, as it is for the benefit of Islam, then they may lie however they like.
Taqiyya essentially enables lying to any non-Muslim at any time.
Muhammad lied to the Meccans, he signed a 10 year peace treaty, then broke the treaty and murdered the other party only 2 years later. So... The prophet of your religion has lied MANY MANY times. Please explain how Muslims may not tell lies.
He is smart
This is the only time he was smart
I liked what he said at the end. Your in his damn country, hes the president of the nation, he is giving you his valuable time. Show some respect!
Respect? American ogovernment officials/media? Nahhh you got jokes
This interview was frustrating. The reporter made the Iranian President look good.
Damm this dude is sharp.
Well, he's not wrong about every 60 minutes reporter thinking they've somehow been elected by the American people to speak for us every time they talk to a foreign leader.
Bro he was not a leader no “president” in Iran is all power is with the ayatollah he is theocrat
Thanks Mahmoud Ahmadinejad for nice respond
This was the first and possibly the last time i felt that a 60 minute interviewer was factious and politically incorrect

the small hats did 9/11, and 60 minutes knows it
As long as the 60 minutes the narrow US imperialist perspective without explaining our historical influence in Iran, including the false flag WMD war in Iraq, then these interviews will not be watched by most Americans. You are doing yourself no favors when 'reporting' this revisionist history. We have 800 military bases in 80 countries and are currently fueling war in Yemen as well. We are in no position to lecture any other president in the world. This is more propaganda than investigative reporting.
Agreed.
Well said my brother!
For very many years I enjoyed 60 Minutes who showcased interesting stories from around the world WITHOUT letting their personal politics shine through. Those days are obviously now gone. It's a damn shame.
When it comes to Iran, everyone in Washington follows the same mainstream rhetoric and propaganda.
He Said help the victims of Katrina 🤔
Bush doesn’t help anybody but he kills and destroy a lot he is a vile monster that should be rotting in jail.
The interview conducted in 2005
Scott Pelley is somewhere punching the air😂
The arrogance of Americans thinking they know it all. The war cry and accusations against Iran for having Nuclear bomb is a lie and Netanyahu have 400 Nukes and no body said anything.
I, some truth in that
@@ihs51 I would never expect western politicians or media to be anything less than hypocritical. They're barbarians. We now see their true demons coming out through their tantrums because the world is shifting towards a multi polar system, and thank God for that. Most of us see through all the BS propaganda they try to send us. This interview might as well have been conducted by the CIA
I would venture to say most comments here are not Americans.

this man was the backbone of iran
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad may have many, many faults but I am pretty sure he is not a fan of the Taliban/911 attackers/Al-Qaeda because Iran and Ahmadinejad are Shia and the enemy of the Taliban/911 attackers/Al-Qaeda who are Sunni who have attacked Shia Muslims. Did the interviewer even know such a basic detail as this??
Right brother you can find President AHMEDINEJAD's truthfulness the fault in the world is Israel and Palaestine have the right to get back its land that US is supporting oppressors
Taliban has nothing to do with 9/11.
Taliban is not like Alqaeda and isis who believe bombing yourself will get you to heaven
President Ahmajinedhad is a hero. He is a brilliant man and not one reporter has ever been able to handle his intelligence.
This reporter demonstrates everything wrong with the mainstream corporate media, acting as an attack dog for the state department but never questioning his own government actions and motivations, you know how like their was no WMDS after all?
At 11:56, Scott Pelley was rightly called out on what he was doing with the interview.
You see, this was during the Bush era & this's a 60 Minutes interview with Iran's then president, it tells the gist of what one needs to know about the main stream outlets & their covert links to the intelligence agencies & the military industrial complex. The US is the invading party here, & Pelley's acting as if we are the ones being invaded (Iraq) or the ones being surrounded (Iran) by the invading forces. He's interviewing Ahmadinejad with the outright hawkishness of the neocons. Also, when these main stream outlets do political pieces on the approved internal affaires here, they do it from a neolib point of view.
What a bunch of shameless tools they are, & they are proud of it too. Propaganda is what we get for news.
Exactly lol. Messed up. These mainstream media outlets are no different to state media outlets under the guise of "free media" just because they happened to be owned by US corporations (closely linked to the US government) instead of being directly owned by the government itself.

The difference between Iran and the US is that Iranians actually know what their ideology is about. Even though the majority of Iranians aren't fond of the regime, they know that Iran is the only country in the region that managed to maintain stability and peace and in some way, they succesfully won their land back from the Americans (from the view that the Shah's Persia was an American puppet state).
Point is, the Iranian mindset is very dangerous for the West, because we can safely assume that when the regime is gone, Iran will still maintain its independent position.
Such an Iranian
