Another nice video. It's interesting - and annoying - about your Pushkar experience. In our five weeks in India, we never had any problem with scammers. Touts were occasionally annoying - but I would often pretend I spoke no English and said "non comprehendo" and kept walking. We were thinking of going to Pushkar but decided to skip it, as we were going to Varanasi anyway. We traveled independently for 3 weeks (Udaipur, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Kichan) then had a private guide for Jaipur, Varanasi, Delhi. Maybe it was the presence of the guide that deterred scammer,s but we also avoided them for those first 3 weeks too. (we are two guys, so that might have also helped).
Yeah scammers we haven't run into that many really but the touts are everywhere. This was the only day where we ran into so many, 4 different guys tried the flower blessing scam within a short period of time. I later checked online and it is a very common scam in this place, another viewer mentioned it happened to him and his friend 9 years ago in this exact same place
LMAO, they don't just bother foreigners, they do the same with Indians, if they feel one is rich and from some other part of the country.. Just keep walking, they will follow you for some time, eventually they leave.. Same goes when looking for hotels or transport...

It's interesting (and annoying) what you experienced there in Pushkar. We were going to go there, but only had 5 weeks to zip around and decided to skip it as we were going to Varanasi anyway. In our five weeks, we never had anyone really hassle us. (apart from people occasionally wanting to see us stuff). Even in Varanasi, also a touristy and holy city, we were able to walk along the ghats largely hassle free. (For touts, I often pretend I cannot speak English and say "Non comprehendo" and keep walking. )
Yeah i tried the no english thing once and some guy just kept talking to me haha. Lately just ignoring them all together and avoiding eye contact seems to be the best option
We have faced the same consequence in Brahma temple instead of being Indian.. They separated me and my husband..and they made him donate RS. 3300 on the name of some blessings for the family..But they told that they cook lunch for the needy people..That's the only consolation for us..
I went to Pushkar in 2007 and it was the same, we also had problems. Only there actually, in other places people maybe insisted in offering things to buy but nothing more. But anyway I love India and I miss this beautiful country!
Your mistake when dealing with scammers/fake sadhu's was engaging them in the first place. As soon as they approach you just say "No thanks" and keep walking, this can happen anywhere in the world, but is particularly bad in India. (Never tell them that you've "just arrived") This is good training for when you arrive in Varanasi, which can be much worse.

I can't tell you how much I'm enjoying traveling along with you through India. It really brings back my own travels there. You gave us a great feel for Pushkar. I really enjoyed the views you shared from Savitri Mata Temple. Pushkar's best attraction is the camel fair that happens every year sometime in Oct/Nov. You also did a great job of illustrating why visitors might want to skip Pushkar. There is a lot to see in this area of Rajasthan and I'm not aware of any place in India that has more reports of scammers and cheats than Pushkar: women experiencing the same type of grabbing that Carol dealt with in Paharganj, merchants taking payments and then outright lying about the value of the currency they were handed, and near physical altercations over donations. It's a shame that India-and Pushkar in particular-is such a free-for-all in that sense.
It happens with Indians who come to Rajasthan from other parts of India as well not just with foreigners.. Best thing to do is just keep walking if you are a foreigner.. For us, we can get into confrontation, but foreigners shouldn't do that.. And these ppl are not limited to religious places, you will find them in Transportation hubs and hospitality sector, specially when looking for cheap hotels.. One way to sell your product is to lie or make people fool....another way is go down all gun blazing, enslave people, kill them, take their resources and then sell one's product. I don't understand why these foreigners complains so much...especially English or American as they have some superior claim on morality.
@ another way is to have a product or service that people want and negotiate a fair deal. If you are referring to Indias history,I think you will find it was the British, not just the English that were there( although the Hindu /Muslim killings were all your own work).

Sorry to say ...in india this scam people not leaving indian people also..😂😂. But u managed very well...i will surely skip pushkar .and spend extra day in jaisalmer
Don't disappoint this type of people in tourist places is normal. Just enjoy & chill in India... India is the second home for all international tourists..
Never give people money, that is the #1 rule. Also, please go to youtube which ever city you go and click "city name" and "scams". Like "Pushkar scams", "Haridwar scams", "Varanasi scams" or "Delhi scams", you will see all the scams.
Never engage them in conversation that is the mistake you are doing. If you ignore they will go away soon. If you engage them in conversation they are encouraged.
I loved Pushkar, but I think one of the rudest persons I've ever encountered in India was there! I went to India 6 times and stayed over 3 months each time... but that time in Pushkar, the man shouted at us so badly, for no reason. We were just sitting at the lake and meditating, but the man went CRAZY and told us we should leave!!!!!! Later he also asked for money, the same guy (the fake priest), watch out, there are numerous "fake babas" all around Pushkar (and all over India too). Anyways it is a lovely place to walk, have nice food and. great place to buy silver items too, just like in Jaipur!
Wow you guys are brave walking by those monkeys, I’ve seen another vlogger get bitten by one, I can’t remember where but I think it was in Malaysia...be safe! ✌🏽
Mate! I've been travelling full-time for thirty years and I am telling you, you guys are way too nice! Assume that anyone approaching you wants money. I usually say something like "Hey listen I've lived here for years. Go away." If that doesn't work I speak some Australian to them: "Fuck off!" That works 100% of the time. Learn just a bit of Hindi works well too.
Great video...and than the scammers...they are every were ...bit the good people and super nice buildings and nature off India make up for it...have fun......🌏🌎🌎
Stay away from such scams in the name of religion !!! Such guys are not actually religious and are quite fake, they only wanted you to donate lots and lots of money .... They do the same with many indian pilgrims and since you were a foreigner they tried to take an advantage of it !! Never donate in any religious places .... You did the best thing by getting out of it !
Sorry but its India's issue. Its not with only foreign tourist but its the same for all. The best way to deal those dumbs (that you did to last one) just ignore, don't talk to them at all. May some day government wakes up to deal with this issue. #StaySafe #HappyJourney
Yeah there are so many touts here also but we always just ignore, that guy I filmed was a bit different as we were sat down so didn’t really want to have to leave but he gave us no option
except scammers hindus never wear black clothes at such holy place... genuine priest dont ask for money by giving flowers and they speak own language not english. age of scammers is between 30 and 40( no job and NO passport because of police cases lodged against them) and they always wear full lenth clothes. except scammer nobody will ask you such irrelevant question. every scammer ask same questions. citizens dont carry guns in india so dont worry just tell them that you are going to dial 112 or 100 and they will start running away. having one local guide is really affordable and it helps a lot. guide help to explore unknow nearfby places and they help us even to select best food joint. indiapersonaltours, com and few others are affordable websites. hope this helps!
Just say to them, "go out of here otherwise my phone dialer is waiting to dial 100( Indian police number) .look they are scammers but they don't keep guns( generally). ..so don't just scares from them, just say or use word POLICE..
Not my favourite. I think u and Carol have ti jyst relax in relation to scamners, its just as it us. I hate harrassment and probably wouldn't enjoy it either. Just puts me off visiting! Still, you are seeing lovely places.
Well on this day was extra hard as we were just sat relaxing on the lake and they come up to you and dont leave. Ended up having 4 guys try the same thing in a short amount of time
@@JumpingPlaces In Goa it will be Children and women trying to sell you jewelry and other stuff on the beach. It's difficult sometimes, you dont want to be rude but once you engage in Conversation they won't go until you Buy something, and five min later it's the same thing again.
I'd also be weary of men in white (or some spiritual atire) with a group of Indians hanging around. It's customary there to honor Gurus. They believe there is healing and good karma being in there presence. Just another front for commerse. Acts of kindness is the stuff to look out for. Paradoxically, India is a mind based culture ( take first). You & Carol are heart based people ( give first). Not surprising you are finding the culture there challenging. Have to constantly keep your guard up, & it's exhausting.
Yeah with all the touts in every place can be very annoying, so far it has been hard to completely relax in the majority of places we have been because it is just non stop people approaching you and trying to sell you stuff.. feels you always have to be on the look out
The best way to get rid of those people is to ask them for money before they even get a chance to start their scam😂😂 interrupt them as they extend their hands and say" excuse me brother we need money to get back to Mumbai can you help us?...watch the reactions😭😭😭
Hey Great video With regards to scammers... They exist across the world. A firm NO is good. Also Google stuff so that you know about the place. ANOTHER GREAT IDEA IS TO PUT IN IT THE COMMENTS SECTION WHERE YOU ARE HEADED NEXT.... ASK ABOUT THINGS TO DO AND STAY AWAY FROM.... I AM SURE A LOT OF HELP WILL POUR FROM HERE.
Cheers bro! Yeah we face scams quite a lot but it seems in India we have faced much more than in other countries so far. This is the only time that i have had 4 different people try to pull the same scam on me within a few hours, also saw them harassing many other foreigners in the street and other foreigners falling for the same scam on the stairs..It is out of control in this place
@@JumpingPlaces That's unfortunate buddy. If it's of any help, the scammers scam everyone... Not just foreigners. We tend to get less affected by it because we are used to the scammers... And consider them as a given... Like people who are trying to sell fake products. The truth is just asking people over and over again is not unlawful. And they take full advantage of it. Their intent is to not comfort us.... It is just to get money from us. They are illiterate and don't understand that travellers pay for comfort, leisure, honesty and services. Anyway, good that you are having enough positive experiences to keep you going. Happy traveling!!

India is only country in world, to right choose religion of their own and to spread or preach to people or invite to their religion as per constitution... That become advantage to this kind of people...

Pretending to not speak English is a good idea... They will go away!
Now u r going to right and beautiful place... Udaipur
Yeah next vid will be from there, was a great relaxing place!
in india you a firm 'no' works most times . after watching this video i suggest you to skip varanasi for sure . because all the things were bothering you gonna be 10 times more there , plus it would as busy and hectic as old delhi .
Yeah I have seen that there is much busier. We weren't planning to head there anyone on this trip
You just have to be rude to the scammers. I definitely find it helps. Just found your channel. Hooked on your videos 👍
Sorry to say ...in india this scam people not leaving indian people also..😂😂.
But u managed very well...i will surely skip pushkar .and spend extra day in jaisalmer
Yeah people mentioned that indian gets scammed also but i am pretty sure for foreigner it happens way more from what i have witnessed
Awesome blog. It’s great to see you both back.
Cheers ricardo!
Don't disappoint this type of people in tourist places is normal.
Just enjoy & chill in India...
India is the second home for all international tourists..
Love from india
Never give people money, that is the #1 rule. Also, please go to youtube which ever city you go and click "city name" and "scams". Like "Pushkar scams", "Haridwar scams", "Varanasi scams" or "Delhi scams", you will see all the scams.
Never engage them in conversation that is the mistake you are doing. If you ignore they will go away soon. If you engage them in conversation they are encouraged.
Exactly same thing happened to us in Pushkar in 2008 very disappointing.
Your wife is so Indian,..looks pretty indian
How was ur trip to PUSHKAR brother...???🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
hope you understand English and have watched the video
You're too nice Chris, just ignore them and keep walking.
Yeah that second one I was actually sat down though enjoying the calm lake. So didn’t really want to just leave but it seemed he wasn’t going away
Love पुष्कर❤
I’m watching these Indian videos in retrospect - Poor Carol doesn’t look as enthusiastic as she usually does in current videos
i had done the same commnt
Some holy places cursed with the people like this.
#Stay Safe 💝
except scammers hindus never wear black clothes at such holy place... genuine priest dont ask for money by giving flowers and they speak own language not english. age of scammers is between 30 and 40( no job and NO passport because of police cases lodged against them) and they always wear full lenth clothes.
except scammer nobody will ask you such irrelevant question. every scammer ask same questions. citizens dont carry guns in india so dont worry just tell them that you are going to dial 112 or 100 and they will start running away.
having one local guide is really affordable and it helps a lot. guide help to explore unknow nearfby places and they help us even to select best food joint. indiapersonaltours, com and few others are affordable websites. hope this helps!
I like ur all videos
Grt work...
Just say to them, "go out of here otherwise my phone dialer is waiting to dial 100( Indian police number) .look they are scammers but they don't keep guns( generally). ..so don't just scares from them, just say or use word POLICE..
Yeah the restaurant owner told me to just mention the police, thanks for the tips!
So in Europe or USA no scam right?
Thank you for improving our General knowledge..
Everyplace in this world have good people and bad people..
Never had 4 different people try the same scam on me in a few hours and not leave anywhere else in the world to be honest.
Never been scammed in the name of religion either before in another country
I was in USA for 4 years and can’t even remember a single time that I got scammed, have you even been there?
Hey
Great video
With regards to scammers...
I suggest you if u want to go pilgrim areas go varanasi, amrutser never visit this kind of villages. We are hering that village name 1st time
Some people seemed to say Varanasi is even worse for the scammers and touts
@@JumpingPlaces during kumbamela time it full of people
And nice to watch it...it was happened 6 months ago almost 1crore people gathered and offer prayers to God shiva..
But amrutser is best place no scamer golden temple they offer food for 10,000 people for free
It's sikh
U have seen desert in india
If u want to see coolest part of India Kulu Manali its correct season full of snow...
And ladakh is the land of different landscapes and different rivers..
I have messaged you in instagram best places to visit....
Wow! That is sad to hear and seems no different from New Delhi but with scammers. As always I enjoyed the video but was not fond of the city, not much for beautiful buildings. Really hope you both get some rest and enjoy the next journey on your trek through India, I know I can't wait. Thank you Chris and Carolina.
Yeah the buildings weren’t so great compared to other places in Rajasthan. The mountain was pretty awesome atleast! Next vid today in udaipur shows a really nice place 😁👍
Great video.
goverment should send these scammers to jail
Yeah everyone knows who they are, making a bad reputation for the place.. I found later many blogs about this exact same issue
India is only country in world, to right choose religion of their own and to spread or preach to people or invite to their religion as per constitution...
That become advantage to this kind of people...
Sll you want is a free holiday
You had gone to a wrongful place. It was strictly meant for hindus and even not for other Indian origin religions
I just gave them 50 rupees when they played the religious trick on me. One of my friends gave them 500. They separated us as well. This was 9 years ago when it must have been a lot less touristy.
Yeah if you search it online its extremely common in this place, people reporting exact same identical experience. Nuts! We got approached 4 times overall even though we barely even spent that much time around the lake
@@JumpingPlaces after a while u just need to be assertive with them. Udaipur is a lot different though one of the calmest places ive been in india. Wait for varanasi though its pretty hardcore there for touts
One way to sell your product is to lie or make people fool....another way is go down all gun blazing, enslave people, kill them, take their resources and then sell one's product. I don't understand why these foreigners complains so much...especially English or American as they have some superior claim on morality.
Collab with local youtuber or friend so u will not get scammed
I wonder if you had a few flowers from elsewhere and showed them if they'd leave you alone or probably keep haggling you to buy even more. You prob did the best thing walked away. The only other place I seen people this aggressive was in Rome walking around alone.
Yeah not sure! We even showed them that carol already had the blessing bracelet and they still insisted. Ended up having 4 different guys try to pull the same trick on us in a very short period of time. Saw other foreigners sat on the steps with them also falling for it
sry from india
👍
Unbelievable that this scam is currently still going on
Just avoid them
Can be hard, it happened 4 times on this day in a short period of time.. kinda sucks that you are relaxing by a lake and in order to avoid them you have to leave
Jumping Places I know brother, I mean scammers are everywhere around the world the local GOVT Has to take action, think that it’s a part of adventure & be strong Bro And enjoy 😉 😎✌🏻
Hey bro I did not hear like you are saying about donate .anyway nobody can force you for donation but its all up to your will such as what do you want. Even though you should India is a largest country where is different different culture and population behavior. a you should be aware about scam and change your innocent behavior. Hope you know that there is also live smart Aleck poeple.
Hell
two things I learned about India
- I'll never go there again
- if I do ever return, I'll go Directly to my destination and leave Directly with no traveling in country
Where did you go here? And what kind of things happened?
@@JumpingPlaces whenever possible we like to travel within the countries we visit. New Delhi to Jahanabad to Ellora and then to south to Hampi. We had never experienced any country like that before. Trash everywhere, poor air quality, extreme poverty, little/no infrastructure, scammers hounding us throughout, people looking at us in an unfriendly way ...by day three we were on high alert after a taxi driver attempted to maneuver us into a robbery situation. On four separate occasions random men put hands on my wife while none of the locals did or said anything. And also, I have noticed that for some reason people don't mention the smell. The sites we visited were absolutely stunning and amazing! Overall, not worth it.
@@littleclay5875 u should visit south india ...
No one invited you
Welcome to Pakistan kpk northern area
Never donate them
Very much same experience. These people fuckup so much.
nice :-)
Hey, y u went for pushkar, it's a religious place, there are lots of scammers, they scam on the name of god, u have lots of options instead a religious places
Damn. Yeah I never accept anything now. Not flowers, not a pamphlet, nothing “free”. And if they’re demanding money, I’ll give them zero. F that
Yeah shouldn't have even given them 25, I just did it to distract them and get out of there
you heading there?
Those are money looters.
Don't give them. Go straight to temple.
You guys not even scamed by them but also Pushkar where u r staying is banks of ganga not even famous pilgrim place...
U can see this kind of place all over river ganga. As Hindu pray river ganga
Pushkar means Holi place of Hindu where they pray for river ganga for giving water, for good growth of crops......
Thanks for the info my friend 👍🇮🇳
dont give them anything this scam is going for years
:3 i am indian even i got scammed once from such people, these idiots should be sent to jail, i dont know why our gov is not taking any actions against them. I know many indians will say that these things happen all over the world but we should look into our own house first, its possible to eliminate such thiefs but issue is gov is not doing anything
Yeah to be honest they do happen over the world but we personally have never faced so many scams or touts in any other country, especially touts. All the locals know who these scammers are so not sure why it doesn't get stopped. Scamming in the name of religion is extra bad
@@JumpingPlaces btw i appreciate alot that you informing everyone about such scams, tourists need to be aware about what they could face and what to avoid, keep informing about such scammers hope atleast these videos will put pressure on gov to take strict actions
@@lakshayv3272Cheers bro! The whole idea is to be helpful and give a realistic view of what actually happens during our day.. leaving the bad parts out would just portray a fake happy day all the time. Many indians get pissed off but at the end of the day its the reality...
Do not likr codescending attitude people need income.thet are not tourists
Scam
see Dakota pushkar video
Don't want to be scammed? Why don't you just to some research beforehand.
scam o scam, annoy o annoy..every country has it BUT which has the most
Not sure! Cuba was pretty bad also. Here is mainly touts and not scammers, but this was the only day where i had 4 guys try to pull the same blessing scam on me so definitely a big problem in this place for sure
How many bad experiance did u suffer ?
In USA south u can be shot or killed, this was bad people, u should neve trust every body
First You accused of Sexual harassment now religious scam next what?, You are not a Hindu then why attending this Hindu blessings.Hindus will attend blessings and give donations to Temples. Don't attend this type of blessings.
Next is whatever else happens during my time here. My videos are simple, a day in a place and i show whatever happens... whether it is good or bad, I am not here to hide the bad parts my friend :) Feel free to watch other youtubers that only show unrealistic good stuff all the time :D
@@JumpingPlaces I agree with you
@@JumpingPlaces in India everyone allowed to come in temple and this type of do not belong in hindu religon then they do not suggest about that
Hats off to you brother ! These westerners behave as they have some superior claim on morality. Don't we remember their way of making money...Going to places with gun in Hand, Killing people, plundering their resources and then selling their product at the point of gun. Ignore these bloody cockroaches.
@ . LOL hey Bro, that's the way the world's rotating. Remember about Mahatma Candy ..
