Nick Ackerman ugh nick I’m still debating between giving up my iPhone 8 Plus and buying this or waiting for next years iPhone. I love the battery on the 11 pro max but hate that notch. It’s a love hate relationship. I usually keep my phone 2-3 years and my 8 plus was a replacement phone a month ago, so basically new. What would you advise me do?
Everything apple pro said next year will not remove notch next year and will be 2023 now since Apple takes forever. Any suggestions will be much appreciated.

Hi Zachary, did you consider trying out the 11 Pro Max during the initial return period. If you don’t like return to your 8 Plus? Honestly at first it’s a bit annoying the notch. But you kind of forget about it after a while. As far as 2020 it’s still up in the air. If they don’t get rid of it, they have to do something to change the design so I’m expecting big changes.
If your itching for more battery life and you’re a heavy and I mean heavy (like use it for work, business, content) camera user then yes. Other than that no. The iPhone XS Max was built to last.
Nick Ackerman thanks for your response. What would you say the percentage of Apple removing notch on one of the iPhones is in 2020? Ming chi kuo said one would and now is taking it back.
If they shrink it the notch will still be there and I’ll be upset waiting a year to see a “redesign” iPhone of just larger or small iPhone. You can not see battery percentage on top right because of the notch. Only the icon.

Upgraded to the pro max from my iphone X, didnt think there would be a difference since my X was still snappy... I was wrong, there’s significant day to day speed boost that I’ve noticed. Loving the Pro Max!
Now with the 14 pro max looking back at this review hits different
I hope they keep refining haptic touch to the point where 3D Touch won’t be a continual talking point. I could see them making it faster and more intuitive if they keep working on it

Almost got it this year for the pro models, as for the regular 11 they definitely got that right. 128gb should be stock storage on a $1000 phone.
You can always expect an honest take from Nick whether it's Android or Apple that he's reviewing. I like what you said, "Unless you're really going to use these cameras you're basically buying a XS Max." And that's the truth which persuades me to hold on to my XS Max. Great review as always.
Nick, help me out here. I have a XS Max at the moment, but I saw the 11 pro max in space gray and fell in love. I’ve been craving a matte back and finally got it. Is it worth the upgrade or should I see what they 12 has to offer

Nick you should try some edge to edge screen protectors on your iPhones that aren’t cut out around the notch. The FaceID will still work fine and you will have a much cleaner less ‘notchy’ look!

Nick Ackerman they do but don’t have a detrimental effect on front camera performance. ESR who are a reputable case manufacturer do full screen ones. I got some from Amazon which are branded Hauotcco which are cheap and apply easily as well. However, I’m in the UK so not sure if those are available on Amazon USA
Nick Ackerman you should get the spigen full coverage screen protector, which covers the whole screen, in which cases fit without problem. I have it on my xs Max and it looks and feels like I don’t have a screen protector on my iPhone XS Max. You can get the iPhone XS Max screen protector which will fit the 11 pro Max

So I left sprint finally years later and switched to t-mobile. I had an xs 64gb and when I looked on tmobile site it cost more to get an xs then to upgrade to the11! I Ended up setting up a trade for my 8 plus that was unlocked & got the 11 which is on back order!

I was going to gift myself the 11 pro max for Christmas but I’ll pass. My iPhone 6 is still working well and the screen is still like new because it rarely drops. I mostly take photos with my real camera so I guess I don’t really need this phone.

Hi Nick! Just subbed because you are the only one talking about the call quality/reception of this phone! A huge deal to anyone in rural areas like me. The call quality will be better on the Pro models compared to the standard 11 though, right? I’m coming from a 6s+ and won’t be happy if the call reception is worse on my new thousand dollar phone! Barry Lawson I traded in the 10s max at Best Buy for $550 then paid the rest(with work bonus) I can understand not upgrading every year. I just really felt I needed the extra battery lol
iPhone 11 and Pro users here : do you guys activate the option called "Optimized recharge" for the battery ? (charge the battery up to 80% then stop it to preserve his health).
This don't work for me... iPhone 11 Pro user (since September 24). I heard that the IA of my iPhone need time just to understand my charging cycle.
Yayane yes mine(XR) doesn’t do it yet but I’ve seen a UA-camr show that it just flat lines at 80% before spiking to 100% before you wake up. Give it a few weeks.

A couple reasons why the 11 pro max was a must upgrade for me from the xs max had call issues and gps issues. For example when I used Apple maps to navigate somewhere it would literally take 1-2 miles down the road before the gps locked in on me. No such issues with the new phone. Also I had some call drops on the older phone and when I would call businesses sometimes all I would hear is static and nothing else. When ordering pick up from a restaurant I would have to drive all the way over there to make my order. The new phone no problems

So my 11 broke. I went to my carrier they didn’t have a replacement. They gave me a pro Max 256 gold. I’m not mad they said the person cancelled the order for it and it was for sale
I’ve gone from the XS max to the iPhone 11 pro max I have had both phones and yes the new phone is much better in all areas! You say style really who cares? I didn’t buy it for its looks! But quality is 50% better I’m not really a fan of changing anything about design I put a case on it for a start! so I’m not going to see it anyway and I don’t care! If I can’t see it! but I must admit it does look a lot better than the previous phone that I had! PS if you didn’t realise it also goes down to 4 m in water that’s a little bit of a plus it has a stronger back go see some videos on U tube trying to damage it as it doesn’t work all in all I give it a 9.5 out of 10! and the camera is amazing and can’t wait for the 13.2 upgrade which will give it a better performance in camera area

I don't think people are complaining about the headphone jack just because they want to plug in their headphones I think it's more for aux cord use yes you can argue and say most people's stereos and whatnot have a Bluetooth setting or you can argue and say well as much money as you're spending on these phones a simple headphone jack should be included or a adapter

3D touch missing: OK it's missing but the iOS13 replacement (haptic touch) has vastly improved functionality. It's now useful and I use it everyday, whereas on iOS12 I never used it.

Camera improvement is pretty nice and all compared to the xs but the biggest upgrade is the battery. Boy is it great. Much much better than the xs.

I picked up the note 10 plus. But plan on returning it and picking up the 11pro max. When I send out video in a text on the note it comes out horrible. That was a make or break for me

Yes the size of the display and the battery are the differences, which also means there's a weight difference and ofc a price difference.
You should go to BestBuy or a carrier store that has working demo phones, and try both to see which fits your hand and pocket/lifestyle better.
And even if the added size and weight of the 11 Pro Max don't bother you, you should still ask yourself if the extra battery life justifies the additional cost based on your typical daily usage.
The regular 11 Pro has comparatively much better battery life than the IP XS, so that may be enough for you. Just my $0.02.

6:10 yeah no imma have to disagree with you. A phone will never have enough screen for multitasking. The iPad mini hardly has without both apps shrinking small enough. Plus. That’s what an iPad is for. Some iPad features should stay iPad features.
