Thank you, greatly appreciate you & respective family - in Ifa we are all extended family, whether through heritage or through the familiarity & eventually, indoctrination into la Regla de Ocha. I was by my padrino's side for a little more than 30 years & not only witnessed but also developed a profound respect for this blessing & all inclusive responsibility. Iboru, no judgement here brother, the word “slave” was used because the term “adibo” in Cuba was applied to people going through their apprenticeship, and it loosely translated to this. If you’re on good terms with your padrino, you’re on good terms with Orula, Ase.

I am always fascinated by how we apply these terms, "adibo", etc. I am "Criollo" all the way but I like my "traditional" verses...words and so on...Adibo doesn't really even translate to slave...Not tryna be a pain I just hold Oluos to the highest standard, myself most of all. Although I have also been told that back in the day one may have had to paint their prospective Padrino's house, or help out around the house before being considered as a God child lol. To the public our words mean so much and we are often held more accountable than most others. I like words like olukọ (teacher) and/or alakọṣẹ (apprentice).
