Lata ji started a movement for all playback singers with this song. In those times playback singers were not given royalty for the songs they sung while music directors and recording labels earned lakhs in royalty. When Lata ji asked for royalty, Naushad sahab (the music director) told her "You are only an instrument like other instruments, why will you get royalty?"
Lata ji smiled and replied, "Then Naushad sahab, you only sing Mohe Panghat Pe with the other instruments"
Saying this she walked out and went out of station for a month. Both Lata ji and Asha tai had gone on virtually a strike and stopped singing. They brought the male dominated music industry down on their knees finally, when they pleaded and begged her to return and promised to henceforth pay royalty to playback singers.

It’s not Gajgamini.. the song is about Lord Krishna and Gopi’s and Madhubala is portraying the playfulness of Krishna here and the hand posture resembles a matki.. aditi was portraying a Tawaif and there’s a huge difference between these two dance forms!

If you notice most of the songs(9 out of 12) in mughal e azam are sung by the great lata ji and picturised on madhubala. It shows that the main attraction and selling point of this film was anarkali only or u can say madhubala ji. And also the director, K Asif decided to make this film when he read a book or play titled 'Anarkali' 20years before making this film
Anarkali naam se ek film aayi thi, around 1953. That was one of the original inspiration. In that film too Anarkali was very beautiful. But Mughal-e-Azam features Anarkali in the setting of Mughal Rule, not as an isolated individual. So the characters of Akbar and Salim get equal significance.
But may be original anarkali wasn't as beautiful and gracious as Madhubala

Madhubala Ji is unparalleled and immortal.She has been the only one and will remain the only one as the best actress in the world forever to whom I have the utmost respect.I deeply mourn her premature death from congenital heart disease (Ventricular septal defect -VSD)on 23.2.1969 at the age of 36 years (almost 9 years bedridden).VSD was suspected in India in 1951-‘52 when Madhubala Ji was about 19 years old.She went to London in 1961 for further treatment but unfortunately no open heart surgery was available anywhere in the world during that period. Had She lived a long healthy life she could create an insurmountable record in the film industry of the world.She was an innocent, pious, intelligent,punctual lady dedicated to the profession and the cause of her family with an excellent personality. Madhubala Ji was published as the best actress in the world in Hollywood magazine in nineteen fifties. She was offered as the leading actress in a Hollywood movie but she didn’t agree.Dilip Kumar, the first superstar of Bollywood breathed his last on 7.7.2021. May Allah grant both of them eternal peace in Zannat.Lataji, the best singer of the world expired on 6.2.2022.RIP, Legend.
