08, 09 AND 10 he was the most underrated member of that team. He hit, stole bases and played better than expected defense. I still have his jersey in my closet.
Werth had a stretch there of several years where he was one of the best players in the game that nobody talked about. Power, speed, a good glove, everything. He's still underrated in my book.
The Phillies core players (Rollins, Utley, Burrell, Hamels, Howard, Madson, Myers) who were drafted and developed are rightfully celebrated. However, they picked up two gems off the scrap heap to be every day outfielders. The Dodgers gave up on both Shane Victorino and Jayson Werth. They let them both go to Philadelphia for nothing in return. A few years later they were both representing the Phillies in the All-Star game during a season in which they were attempting to defend the World Series they’d won in Philadelphia.
i remember watching Jayson Werth in left field in Dodger Stadium in 2004 and telling my brother, this guy is going to be a player. when we picked him up 2 years later, i exstatically called my brother. "remember that left fielder? we got him" was not disappointed. Werth could do everything, hit for power and average, an above average fielder, a smart, excellent baserunner. think about the two right fielders on our championship teams. Shake n Bake McBride and Jayson Werth, two high quality players. we have not had a right fielder near Werth's quality since he left. and yes that includes the overrated player we have now. just think how many times Werth came through in the clutch and why the Phillies have to still show an extra inning homerun from two years ago for the current rf. because he rarely comes through when we need him to. also, how many times do you remember Jayson Werth getting thrown out running the bases? the current rf has been thrown out on base 3 times this season already, and was one of the top guys in that stat the previous two seasons.
anyone that thinks we have a good team this year, (2021) needs to watch the highlights of the team from the Werth era. although the highlights may not show what this year's team lacks. character, leadership, defense, clutch hitting, and overall, just having winners.
Yes yes and yes. People will be like oh these guys remind me of the 07 team or something, and it actually makes me mad because that team was so unique, fun, and home grown. These guys are none of that. Love Harper because he’ll be here for 10 more years, but all these other guys are mutts.
Since I’m only 19 the only true memories I have are Phillies fans: BOOOOOOOOOOO Werth: hehehehe home run ball go zoom Also in my second or third year of kid pitch my coach said something about me having long arms and I was like “yeah I’m like jayson werth” That’s probably my favorite part of werth honestly
Phillies fans turned on Werth because when the Phillies didn't re-sign him, and we havent had a rightfielder near as good since, including currently, he signed with the gnats and said " i'm going to do my best to make sure the Phillies dont win anymore divisions." you know, because he was on a division rival. phillies fan seemed to expect him to throw games so we could keep winning. but Werth never had the personal or team success he enjoyed iwth the Phillies.
What’s up with werth just taking a fat shit on the blue jays over and over? One of my Phillies goats my favorite player during those years. Wish he didn’t have such a bad exit from Philly

ive watched this guy golf at my country club and he smashes the ball like 340 to 370 off the tee. guy is insane
Man, I loved Jayson Werth on the Phillies. He always played every game like it mattered the most. He's one of my favorite Phillies of all time.
God damn he was fast. That was such an underrated part of his game when he played for philly.
Agreed. He was one of the best at stealing third base, often right after stealing second. Loved his steal of home off of Russell Martin at 5:25.
Werth was awesome when he was here. Missing: his catch in Halladay's no-hitter.
this whole team was stacked!
I love watching the steal of home, just beautiful old school baseball
That catch in the All Star game is next level
4:15 Joe Buck sucks

An inside the park home run in Colorado is probably extremely hard. I’m sure they condition for it, but that altitude is no joke
Baseball use to be so much fun watching
He was a hella of an offensive weapon. Just check out how he played in 2008 WS G5
I was at the game at 14:10
back when baseball was still fun to watch lol
