You wanna do something about a free palestine then form an organisation advocating for it to leaders and vote for parties who are for the specific cause you so care about. Heck go to the conflict zone and try and help those people directly if you feel that strongly about it.
Occupying an university in a country far away from Palestine and demanding other people do something whilst vandalising the building your occupying is like children throwing a temper tantrum, except these people are all privileged young adults or older.

I live 2 blocks away from here, and first of all I want to say my thoughts and prayers are with the victims of october 7th and the victims in Palestine. These are no peaceful protest, there are literally hit squads/hooligans flown in from abroad to ''protest'' in a violent matter. Ammonia and other chemicals are being thrown at cops, tiles are ripped out of the street and thrown at cops, journalists are being attacked. They destroy buildings, they vandalise class rooms in university, but when the police steps in they are quick to show the peace sign and complain when police is not having it. THIS IS OUR CITY, this is NOT our war! Destroying properties and causing havoc, is not going to solve the problem in Palestine. We never asked for any of this, STAY HOME or behave, we are sick of it! You dont believe it? there is plenty of video of this, give me a reply and ill tell you where to search (on yt)
UPDATE: There is this protest group in Europe called ''Samidoun'' that was helping out the students and pretending/disguising as students barricading and rioting against the police. This ''protest'' group is already banned in Germany because they were handing out free candy in Germany at october 7th to celebrate all the deaths and victims. This group is the main aggressor in these protests. None of them is recognisable and they try to cause as much chaos under the guise of ''Pro Palestine''. This same group is fighting to free the convincted Georges Abdallahlah, that is currently incarcerated in France, because he murdered an American officer and a French diplomat. Samidoun has a marxist idiology.
Unfortunately many students of UVA arent/werent aware of this and thought this protest was for a good cause.

They are, but being democratic does not mean you can't be on the wrong side of history.
We are, but pulling bricks out of the street is vandalism and doesnt have much to do with democracy. The entire vaculty buildings were vandalized. They were allowed to stay the first day but when they barricaded the faculty terrain that's when it goes too far

What does she mean with "shared governance"?
Shared governance is a systematized structure of transparent decision-making that reflects shared interests and shared responsibility of all constituency groups. - Basically they want to be able to allow/object to any partnerships the university has or makes in the future. This is bad because it's against our academic freedom, universities are able to work with anyone and everyone if it's to further science or research. Important part of our Dutch law.
This country was once famous for being very liberal... But riot police beating peacefully demonstrating students with batons remindes me more of an autocracy😢😢😢

You people yelling about 1.5 million in damage don't know that the cops brought in chainsaws. That means that instead of taking apart the chairs and tables that the studenten used to barricade the doors, the cops used the chainsaws to destroy pieces of office furniture.
Those furniture pieces shouldnt be outside if you are peacefully protesting.... thats vandalism, a peacefull protest is when you dont cover your face, and just stand and chant. That's all, no grabbing bricks from streets, no grafiti, no stealing furniture

It´s an ongoing discussion spanning everything from what you said, all the way to people meaning that everything that do not include physically hurting or hindering another being is peaceful/non-violent. So property damage, anonymity, as well as obstruction of the unwanted activities are seen as peaceful as long as no-one is physically hurt, or not allowed to leave the scene. So I´m not saying you´re wrong (the lionshare of my own activism has been in the softer-to-middle parts of the spectrum), but don´t tell it like you have the singular answer. No one does and that´s how tactics are kept alive and regenerative, not through dogma.
Why don’t they go and demonstrate in Gaza? And please also share the 1.5 million euro’s in damages they already caused. Didn’t know al jazeera was this antisemitic.

To be clear, this is not how the majority of the Dutch people view the conflict in Gaza. The Dutch people share a centuries-long peaceful history with the Jewish people and will always support Israel, always. We have no historical ties with Arab peoples and certainly not with their culture and religion. The students and their teachers you see here have little historical and cultural awareness and that can only be explained as a great shame.
What does ‘historical and cultural awareness’ have to do with protesting against the way this Israeli government is treating the Palestinian people? Fyi, many Jews, in Israel and elsewhere, do not agree with the Netanyahu policy. Maybe raise your own ‘awareness’ before you post something? And at least be brave enough to post under your real name!
I work at a university. If it ever comes to the situation where all my colleagues walk out in protest, I'll just go home and sit it out. As if this will do anything. The worst thing that can happen is a stampede. I've been caught up in one, 8yrs ago in Prague. People stepped over each other, there was no communal feeling any longer. No security nor peace. Avoid such large crowds, guys. I've also been in Seoul where the Halloween crowd crush happened, just not that year bit 3yrs prior. Crowds are no joke. Uncontrollable.
