I would say 16 has the edge in this fight. His energy is like 17 and 18 in that it never runs out. Cell is an organic being and would eventually fatigue as the fight drags on. In addition to that he's immune to Cell's tail stab and has a bomb in his chest that's so powerful it could potentially kill Perfect Cell so Imperfect Cell wouldn't really have a hope of survival. That last scenario would be more of a draw than a victory however. For Cell to win, he would have to utilize his entire arsenal that he inherited through his DNA. Like if he did a Solar Flare followed it up with Destructo Disc to slice off 16's head. There's likely other move combinations that could secure the win as well.

In all honesty, if Cell hadn't absorbed 17, I think that 16 would have won. 16 and imperfect Cell were about as same strength, and it is implied that 16 is also an android that has unlimited stamina, which is a clear advantage when fighting someone with the same strength. The longer the fight dragged out, the more likely Cell would lose. Once Cell absorbed 17, he just completely defeated 16.
Not only does Cell's absorption not work, people forget 16 also is an infinite energy model. Cell is not, proven by how Piccolo claimed both Goku's and Cell's power is going down as they fight in the Cell games. Cell has hacks, but those are still something to consider. Cell's abilities become less effective when he gets weaker and weaker.

But yeah, he should be completely exhausted and weak after regenerating, and his Zenkai should only kick in after recovering to full again. Not to mention, his namekian cells are also overpowered, since Piccolo most likely wouldn't be able to survive being evaporated down into one cell like that.

I believe Gero had contingencies in place: If 17/18 become rogue, Cell will take them out. And if Cell reaches his perfect form or lack thereof as seen in the future, 16 takes him out. Hypothetical if 16 could destroy Perfect Cell with his bomb, and if he could Cell might be able to regenerate but let's say he could, then 16 would die too but if 16 takes out Imperfect Cell, then that reality would be left in peace perhaps.
My head canon is that 16 was an apparent failure bc he was too kind, and that he needed a human element to maintain a desired destructive aspect. After all, what use is a weaponized android if it won't help take over the world and dominate humanity? Gero probably intended 16 to do more than just defeat goku. It's an interesting idea for me today bc people are afraid of AI becoming some sort of evil and destructive agent, but for all we know AI will turn out to be the most peaceful tech we've come up with. Plus we all know Gero is evil. He wasn't necessarily trying to save the world from what he perceived to be an evil force. No, he literally wanted to dominate the planet. I feel like 16 was a prototype in the sense that, he had infinite energy, but all the power he had was all he was going to have. And that's why Gero went back to using kidnapped wayward teens until he figured out the energy absorption gimmick. 17 & 18 would have to train to get stronger, while 19 & 20 would just have to absorb energy to become stronger. Cell, as a biological being would definitely have started weaker than all 5 of them. The hundreds of thousand he gulped really turned the tides. That's my theory, anyhow.

16 definitely had a slight advantage. And having infinite energy, he likely would have eventually won. I think 16 and Cell here are also about equal in power to Super Android 13. Still, my money would be on 16 over either of them.
It is going to be physical. 16 won't self detonate unless a last resort and believed he has the capacity to take out Cell eventually with effort alone. Now if Cell managed to escape, recover and also improve then 16 would probably have to resort to self detonate.
I think it would be interesting because 16 has infinite stamina, but Cell can repair damage. Because Cell was able to land hits, so he would also be able to wear down 16 over time due to him being a robot and thus being unable to heal. So it's a question of what would give out 1st, Cell's energy or 16's body.

The thing about Cells regeneration is that it is in Overdrive. Namekkian regeneration is 2 state. Low level Instinctive & Mid level Attentive. Cell has Overdrive level Instinctive and Hi level Attentive. This also explains why his body expands during his self destruct action. His body expends a near total of all available energy focused between amassing cells and energizing them.Except for one piece of undetermined size. Cell says that he has a core in his head. That is true in a sense. It can be anywhere actually .It will always seem like his head to him.
Could go either way. They have advantage/s over the other. 1. Cell - regeneration, zenkai, more fighting styles and technique 2. Android 16 - infinite stamina (only one advantage but very crucial)
Better yet, if they had all joined together, they could easily beat Cell. I mean, they spend the entire time together as a trio anyway. If Cell tried to absorb either one of 17 or 18, the other two could simply interrupt him or remove his tail over and over again until Cell exhausts himself through over-regeneration. But of course, we all know how fights on the screen work; one combatant at a time. Everyone else is only allowed to watch helplessly, no matter how easily they could intervene!
No one mentions that Cell has Piccolo intelligence. Piccolo is considered one of the most brilliant fighters. 16 may be a bit more stronger, but Cell was much smarter.

I always thought that 16 hadn't just been repaired by Dr. Briefs and Bulma, but was upgraded? Is that from a faulty translation? Could explain why he manages to hold on to Perfect Cell as long as he did. Either way, I do think Cell was taken off guard there. He blew him up instead of judo throwing him or just ripping his arms off because he wanted to.
This would have been a battle of attrition where #16 would have steadily worn Cell down until he deals the final blow. Now, on the Terminator/Schwarzenegger side, #16 would as well have thought something like "if it bleeds, we can kill it" (Predator - 1987)
I have a theory on something. So even if krillin had deactivated the androids who cell be able to still gain power from them. I know they assumed deactivating them would have helped save some things but it was never implied that it would stop cell and I'm sure that Dr.Gero thought of having them deactivated for when cell goes to absorbed them. As a fanboy of Imperfect Cell I have to go with him all the way. Imperfect Cell escaped from Hell's Flash easily so he has the craftiness to him and the rocket punch caught him off guard. Cell never got to use the full extent of his abilities in the fight and took advantage of the situation to get 17.
I feel as tho 16 & cell are close in PL but compared to imperfect cell 16 has pretty high durability that combined with the fact that cell can’t absorb 16’s energy & I think 16 would wear cell down until he had less power then him then finish cell
I’ve definitely put more thought into this than is necessary, but hear me out. In the Cell Games we see Cell regenerate twice. First when he has his top half blown off by Goku’s Kamehameha and again after Gohan’s first Kamehameha as a SSJ2. It was after that second regeneration that Cell was noticeably beginning to fatigue. He was using his full strength and needed to use energy to regenerate himself. I think the reason Cell ambushed 18 after the Inferno Blast is because he was in a similar situation. He began his fight below full power, lost his tail, regenerated it and realized he needed to use his full strength. It’s speculation, but 16 says Cell was hurt by his Inferno Blast. This implies Cell may have needed to regenerate from even more significant damage. Presumably 16 could sense Cell’s energy weakening. All this in mind, it makes sense to me that Cell ambushed 18. If he could win the fight in his current state after the Inferno Blast, he presumably would have done that. I think 16 had this fight, but the arrogance of the other Androids screwed up his chances.
Idc what the game says, Cell is by all accounts the official Android 21. Gero was 20 & Cell was the next Android project he created. Plus Cell straight up says he’s an Android so the fact that the game created an “Android 21” has always irked me. Idk if 21 was a Toriyama creation or not (honestly I wouldn’t be surprised bc the guy has a history of forgetting his own shit lol) but if she is ever made cannon (not counting Vomi, Gero’s wife who is technically 21 but she was never converted into an android as far as we know unless she was one of the earlier models pre-16) they should rename her 22 & just confirm that Cell is 21. So it turns that Dr Gero was an actual genius just as Android 17 said, he was able to create a purely mechanical with an AI that was able to adapt to its circumstances, so that would make Andriod 16 his magnum opus and most impressive technical feat. And a noble prize worthy discovery. Capsule Corporation wouldn't be able to compete with that. The only reason why he kept the twins alive is because neither 16 or Cell (who were his real creations made for his revenge against Goku) was ready. Toriyama might be a discovery writer but I think he knew what he was doing at the time, and only changed the villians when the editor said they didn't look appealing or didn't look threatening enough to refine it, but I think he had it all laid out in some manuscript.

Well i think on every possible outcome 16 would have the upperhand. What did not get mentioned in this video is that 16 at this point in time had a nuke in his body possibly strong enough to beat enemies like goku. So even when Cell would have gotten the upperhand and would have won the battle. I think 16 would have killed Cell with the nuke as a last dying resort.

What does "infinite energy" mean, regarding the Androids? Without context, I would think that would mean they could simply power up infinitely, move infinitely fast, never suffer fatigue, and be impossible to defeat. Of course, we know none of that is true, since Future Trunks is certainly finite in power and is able to permanently kill them, begging the question. I can think of 3 explanations. 1) Dr. Gero was exaggerating his own accomplishment in creating infinite energy and simply generated a lot more energy than anything we saw in the Frieza Saga. 2) Since Dr. Gero said they could live forever, perhaps it simply means they won't die of old age, but could certainly still be destroyed. 3) Energy doesn't necessarily equate to power or chi, so even if they really have infinite energy, there's only so much they could do with it.

Unfortunately, it would've been Cell, because while 16 calculated that he was around Cell's level of power and may've been able to keep going at tip-top output levels with his power generator, HE CAN'T HEAL. Nothing apart from a genius mechanic can repair the big guy, whereas Cell can regenerate any part of his body. 16 would never hurt him enough to make it stick, and Cell would *eventually* find a way to remove 16's head from his body.
I went with 16. But there’s an argument for cell. Can 16 fight with an 1 arm? How much machine is there? What I mean by this is Cell has the capacity of being creative. I would say Android 16 would have won the fight against Imperfect Cell because Android 16 I would say is the strongest Android there physically with techniques such as the Rocket Punch and Hell's Flash which would completely incinerate Cell.
I wonder if 16 DOES have the infinite energy drive but it only provides infinite energy up to a maximum of what would be equal to 17 and then uses a different power source for the energy beyond that capacity. Or maybe he has 2-3 . We don't really know how they function but we do know the modifications Gero made to 17/18 are biological in nature so maybe 16 doesn't/can't have it.
The only way I can see Cell winning (or at least surviving) this fight, is if he solar flared 16 like he did to piccolo and the others to escape. He actually does do this later when he absorbs 18, so although I don't think he'd be able to destroy 16 (unless he maybe struck a vital component in his body like you stated), I think he could escape from him. And in this hypothetical situation, he'd most likely hunt down 17 the same way he hunted down 18 when he was Semi-Perfect and go island to island until he found them. Assuming he could find them before vegeta and trunks could show up, he would also gain his perfect form a bit faster, making him outclass and possibly kill vegeta and trunks in this version of events. Alternatively, if vegeta and trunks showed up before he could find the androids, he would just be toast and get killed by trunks or vegeta (assuming of course 16 doesn't catch up to him and kill him himself before any of that happens).
I would give to Android 16 initially, gaining more and more of an advantage until he'd blast Cell away... But because he's not aware of how potent Cell's regeneration truly is, it's very likely Cell will get a zenkai after regenerating, allowing him to overpower and destroy 16

I’m giving it to Android 16 for the simple fact that Imperfect Cell snuck up behind Android 17 and absorbed him. If Cell thought he could have won, he would have kept fighting Android 16.

I would say Adroid 16. No where is it stated at Cell has infinite energy. We can also assume he doesn't based on the fact he fed on himans, and later on with his match with Goku he was tired and needed a Senzu to be at peak again
Great video. I always wondered if Perfect Cell didn't immediately destroy 16 when he grabbed him, because he didn't feel 16 was a threat. Kind of like when Hercule attacked him. The power difference was so great, he wasn't worth killing.

I think 16 and Cell here are also about equal in power to Super Android 13. Still, my money would be on 16 over either of them.
It is going to be physical. 16 won't self detonate unless a last resort and believed he has the capacity to take out Cell eventually with effort alone. Now if Cell managed to escape, recover and also improve then 16 would probably have to resort to self detonate.
I think it would be interesting because 16 has infinite stamina, but Cell can repair damage. Because Cell was able to land hits, so he would also be able to wear down 16 over time due to him being a robot and thus being unable to heal. So it's a question of what would give out 1st, Cell's energy or 16's body.
I'd argue cell regen would crap out first, remember he and piccolo need energy to regen. And he was looking winded In his 2v1 against piccolo and 17 before he ultimately ate him

The thing about Cells regeneration is that it is in Overdrive. Namekkian regeneration is 2 state. Low level Instinctive & Mid level Attentive. Cell has Overdrive level Instinctive and Hi level Attentive. This also explains why his body expands during his self destruct action. His body expends a near total of all available energy focused between amassing cells and energizing them.Except for one piece of undetermined size. Cell says that he has a core in his head. That is true in a sense. It can be anywhere actually .It will always seem like his head to him.
Could go either way. They have advantage/s over the other.
1. Cell - regeneration, zenkai, more fighting styles and technique
2. Android 16 - infinite stamina (only one advantage but very crucial)
If 17 and 18 had run away and 16 could fight freely without worrying about those two, he would likely win
Better yet, if they had all joined together, they could easily beat Cell. I mean, they spend the entire time together as a trio anyway. If Cell tried to absorb either one of 17 or 18, the other two could simply interrupt him or remove his tail over and over again until Cell exhausts himself through over-regeneration. But of course, we all know how fights on the screen work; one combatant at a time. Everyone else is only allowed to watch helplessly, no matter how easily they could intervene!

No one mentions that Cell has Piccolo intelligence. Piccolo is considered one of the most brilliant fighters. 16 may be a bit more stronger, but Cell was much smarter.

I have a theory on something. So even if krillin had deactivated the androids who cell be able to still gain power from them. I know they assumed deactivating them would have helped save some things but it was never implied that it would stop cell and I'm sure that Dr.Gero thought of having them deactivated for when cell goes to absorbed them. But then again he made cell stronger than them for a reason. Dammit I lost my train of thought😅😅😅

Imperfect Cell escaped from Hell's Flash easily so he has the craftiness to him and the rocket punch caught him off guard.

I’ve definitely put more thought into this than is necessary, but hear me out. In the Cell Games we see Cell regenerate twice. First when he has his top half blown off by Goku’s Kamehameha and again after Gohan’s first Kamehameha as a SSJ2. It was after that second regeneration that Cell was noticeably beginning to fatigue. He was using his full strength and needed to use energy to regenerate himself.
I think the reason Cell ambushed 18 after the Inferno Blast is because he was in a similar situation. He began his fight below full power, lost his tail, regenerated it and realized he needed to use his full strength. It’s speculation, but 16 says Cell was hurt by his Inferno Blast. This implies Cell may have needed to regenerate from even more significant damage. Presumably 16 could sense Cell’s energy weakening. All this in mind, it makes sense to me that Cell ambushed 18. If he could win the fight in his current state after the Inferno Blast, he presumably would have done that. I think 16 had this fight, but the arrogance of the other Androids screwed up his chances.
Idc what the game says, Cell is by all accounts the official Android 21. Gero was 20 & Cell was the next Android project he created. Plus Cell straight up says he’s an Android so the fact that the game created an “Android 21” has always irked me. Idk if 21 was a Toriyama creation or not (honestly I wouldn’t be surprised bc the guy has a history of forgetting his own shit lol) but if she is ever made cannon (not counting Vomi, Gero’s wife who is technically 21 but she was never converted into an android as far as we know unless she was one of the earlier models pre-16) they should rename her 22 & just confirm that Cell is 21. It’s just weird that someone would make such an oversight on that. Anyways awesome video man! 16 would definitely win that fight if it kept going.
So it turns that Dr Gero was an actual genius just as Android 17 said, he was able to create a purely mechanical with an AI that was able to adapt to its circumstances, so that would make Andriod 16 his magnum opus and most impressive technical feat. And a noble prize worthy discovery. Capsule Corporation wouldn't be able to compete with that. The only reason why he kept the twins alive is because neither 16 or Cell (who were his real creations made for his revenge against Goku) was ready. Toriyama might be a discovery writer but I think he knew what he was doing at the time, and only changed the villians when the editor said they didn't look appealing or didn't look threatening enough to refine it, but I think he had it all laid out in some manuscript.

16 had a lot of advantages, weight class, reach, approximate power lever about the same overall but with 16 having a way better bag than Cell and idk if he had energy absorption abilities but if he had he'd have bodied Cell np.
Did Goku in base unlock his power level as an Oozaru when drinking the water from Korin? Meaning that if he transformed to an oozaru after this his power would not change.
Well i think on every possible outcome 16 would have the upperhand. What did not get mentioned in this video is that 16 at this point in time had a nuke in his body possibly strong enough to beat enemies like goku. So even when Cell would have gotten the upperhand and would have won the battle. I think 16 would have killed Cell with the nuke as a last dying resort.

What does "infinite energy" mean, regarding the Androids? Without context, I would think that would mean they could simply power up infinitely, move infinitely fast, never suffer fatigue, and be impossible to defeat. Of course, we know none of that is true, since Future Trunks is certainly finite in power and is able to permanently kill them, begging the question. I can think of 3 explanations.
1) Dr. Gero was exaggerating his own accomplishment in creating infinite energy and simply generated a lot more energy than anything we saw in the Frieza Saga.
2) Since Dr. Gero said they could live forever, perhaps it simply means they won't die of old age, but could certainly still be destroyed.
3) Energy doesn't necessarily equate to power or chi, so even if they really have infinite energy, there's only so much they could do with it.

Unfortunately, it would've been Cell, because while 16 calculated that he was around Cell's level of power and may've been able to keep going at tip-top output levels with his power generator, HE CAN'T HEAL. Nothing apart from a genius mechanic can repair the big guy, whereas Cell can regenerate any part of his body. 16 would never hurt him enough to make it stick, and Cell would *eventually* find a way to remove 16's head from his body.

Cell would have won in my opinion. 16 did not seem to have a move that could have obliterated Cell. Cell had so many tricks and moves up his sleeves.

I would say Android 16 would have won the fight against Imperfect Cell because Android 16 I would say is the strongest Android there physically with techniques such as the Rocket Punch and Hell's Flash which would completely incinerate Cell.

I wonder if 16 DOES have the infinite energy drive but it only provides infinite energy up to a maximum of what would be equal to 17 and then uses a different power source for the energy beyond that capacity. Or maybe he has 2-3 . We don't really know how they function but we do know the modifications Gero made to 17/18 are biological in nature so maybe 16 doesn't/can't have it.
The only way I can see Cell winning (or at least surviving) this fight, is if he solar flared 16 like he did to piccolo and the others to escape. He actually does do this later when he absorbs 18, so although I don't think he'd be able to destroy 16 (unless he maybe struck a vital component in his body like you stated), I think he could escape from him. And in this hypothetical situation, he'd most likely hunt down 17 the same way he hunted down 18 when he was Semi-Perfect and go island to island until he found them.
Assuming he could find them before vegeta and trunks could show up, he would also gain his perfect form a bit faster, making him outclass and possibly kill vegeta and trunks in this version of events. Alternatively, if vegeta and trunks showed up before he could find the androids, he would just be toast and get killed by trunks or vegeta (assuming of course 16 doesn't catch up to him and kill him himself before any of that happens).
I would give to Android 16 initially, gaining more and more of an advantage until he'd blast Cell away...
But because he's not aware of how potent Cell's regeneration truly is, it's very likely Cell will get a zenkai after regenerating, allowing him to overpower and destroy 16
