Never feel guilty for not being able to provide the quality of care needed for a resident. By saying ,"No, im sorry, I cannot provide the level of care she will need".. you are actually being an advocate FOR that patient, and acting in the best interest of the patient🙌
This video is very helpful to not do these things Have an review of the patient before you take them Make sure you have the friends and family know the maximum time to visit Do no give family your personal number must be office number Have more than one placement agent And never let no one bully you omg
Thank you so much for your humility and vulnerability in sharing your lessons learned. You just saved us all a TON of headache, and heartache! May God rain 100-fold return on your business for your effort.
Beginner mistakes and losses are bound to happen with a new business. At least this was a learning experience and you're able to share with us!! Thanks for sharing.
My hat goes out to you Serg, what you have done thus far is nothing short of amazing and dude, you already had a pair when you first decided you were going into this business, I think what you meant was you had to grow a bigger pair? lol... But seriously, you did good!. Please keep us upto date. I haven't browsed all your videos but I hope to, do you by any chance have any advice or at least will do a vlog about your how you keep your residents entertained, what activities you offer them, if so, what are they. Thanks again.
All the glory to God! He deserves it all. I am nothing without Him. He has given me the strength to keep pushing forward even when I felt like I couldn’t. Feel free to check out all the other videos! As far as the activities that I do with my residents, there are quite a bit and we’re required by the state of AZ to do activities everyday with our residents. Maybe, I’ll cover that topic in a future video of mine.
In florida i took course long ago and ALF is assisted living but the residents must be able to do most everything by themselves if resident has any medical assistance or needs help walking they are to be in a nursing facility
I’m sure that’s changed since. I have students who are opening up assisted living homes and are able to take higher level of care Resident’s in their facilities
Hi Serg, I am a fellow Adult Family Home owner in Washington State. We have been running our home for about 8 years. Its awesome to finally find some helpful and transparent videos regarding this industry. Hope things are going well for you! Its an incredibly stressful business but if you keep it professional and dont only chase the money then it can be very lucrative and be an amazing contribution to your community and the families that rely on you to care for their loved ones. Keep up the good work. One very hard lesson I've learned over the years is that "this too shall pass"!
Thank you for the comment! Things are going well, all the glory to God. It most definitely can be stressful from time to time but knowing why you started and seeing the impact you’re making in your residents lives and their families is more fulfilling than any amount of money could ever bring. May God bless you and thank you again for the support on the channel!
@@serg_lupescu I respect you so much Serg. Your posts have helped me quite a lot with understanding the stress I've been putting on the owner of this facility. I am currently a resident and in my six years of having to live in a facility never experienced employees ganging up against their owner. These are people that grew up under the regime of Fidel Castro and what amazes me is the fact that they feel entitled 😮. They can't appreciate that they have a good job and that the government provides them with assistance so that they can enjoy a better life here for them and their families. Not all exhibit this mentality but the majority of them do and refuse to acknowledge this problem. A lot of demons that come with the wave of uneducated no morals migrants already in this country.
i have watched various channels about RAL but no one has discussed how they dealt with covid. no one was prepared for it. What did you do when covid hit? how do you deal with it 3 years later?
@@serg_lupescu Thought so. I do healthcare concierge and placement currently and had a lot of trouble placing a client in a temporary room in an ALF just because she was getting wound care on her foot. I thought that was odd since Home Health goes into facilities all the time. Thought maybe it was the temp situation. And it was Florida, which is kinda weird anyway 😂
I'm aiming to get started this year.... So you're saying that basically the agencies(put in place to house their patients) disregarded your policies and procedures anyway??? This is a nonmedical assisted living facility, and if someone needs more than one aid isn't that a medical(and by the looks of the patient needing hospice omg)?...Look, I'm motivated to create some facilities because I'm an empathetic person with a caring heart. I'd hate to be turned off due to unresilient personalities without compassion for the staff. Where do we draw the line while staying professional! Thanks for sharing your experience, and I'm truly sorry you lost out as a result.
Ok because I'm seriously looking into doing this. I had one client through the state through adult foster care, total care, CP and a conniving person. I, like you, was bullied into taking her and it was my first time. I was later informed that she was the worst case and that no one else would take her. I think the pay for her was around 50,000 for the year which was not enough at all for all that we had to do and that was with negotiations with the agency. So is what you do the same as adult foster care?
You need to realize that when a resident moves into an assisted living facility it becomes their home. If they have guests that’s their business as long as they aren’t damaging the property.
Please don’t get me wrong, Serg. I don’t want to hurt your feelings. It’s good that you learned to interview everyone carefully before having someone move in. If it feels rushed don’t agree to let them move in!
I know what u mean...You should write dont all of her requests and charged her more and pay the aide a lil more an hour to take care of her. Im not goin to overwhelm my aides because this 1 resident likes to worry the hell outta my staff.
I appreciate how candid and transparent you are about your Mistakes and learning experiences.
Of course! Just wish I had someone else to learn from.

Thanks for sharing your experiences. Me and others can learn alot from this. Good luck!
You’re welcome! Glad to help in anyways I can.
I know this is old, but I'm curious - why did they not put her on hospice? Can hospice provide services to residents in RCFEs?
Yeah, hospice is able to provide their services in RCFE/RAL’s.

What does "POA" stand for?
Power of attorney
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍learning alot from your videos.
Great to hear you're loving them!
Dude what if you want to get started but be unlicensed to see how it goes? Do you recommend dealing with private pay to pay under table?
Don’t do that.
@@serg_lupescu how about independent living with shared rooms like 2 beds a room 4bed room for seniors. Is that better then assistance living or what?
Yeah. It may be possible to do that but you won’t be able to charge the rate that you would be able to charged if you were licensed to do more.
How long have you been in the healthcare field? I think i heard you say 1 year?
I’ve been the healthcare field for 5 years.
Serg Lupescu I was wondering actually what you were doing before? If I can ask of course. For example: PSW, nursing or therapy?
Im not on FB but i would like to join your FB group. So I will sign up for FB if you accept me in your group?
Of course.
Do u still feel it's worth it?
Of course!

I absolutely would not be able to do this.
It definitely isn’t for everyone
This was good Thank you
My pleasure.
Hello dear, I would like to open a group home l need help please
Of course! You can definitely check out the program at legionassistedlivingacademy.com

No, you’re not hurting my feelings! I’m just sharing my experiences and things that I’ve been through to be as transparent as possible.
This of course is true
Good story
Thanks!
Haha you got bullied 😉 great title bro
Robert Iacob lol I had to
I won’t trust people who smokes. They don’t respect.
The client was needy because she needed a personal caregiver
Meaning an aide just to give care for only her. I wouldve raised her rent
Yeah. What I meant by needy, was she “hit her call light every second.”
I know what u mean...You should write dont all of her requests and charged her more and pay the aide a lil more an hour to take care of her. Im not goin to overwhelm my aides because this 1 resident likes to worry the hell outta my staff.
If theyre giving care to another resident in the home and the person is a 2 aide transfer. Ms.Big Momma will wait until their done to get that water.
Too many distracting commercials!
Hhhhhhhhhh thank you for sharing.
My pleasure!
