- Today we're making chicken Milanese with the most delicious tomato, mozzarella, and basil salad. I love this dish during the summer with fresh cherry tomatoes and basil from our garden, but it's a great one to make any time of the year. I hope you enjoy this chicken cutlet with Caprese salad recipe!

My daughter at the University of Oregon now texts me with reviews of your new recipes before I see them. Her and her friends are now inspired to to cook. What a gift. Forget social media, this really brings people together.
Appreciate the techniques and tips you show us. I like your "4 forks" method more than "wet hand, dry hand" -- much cleaner!
Thanks! I appreciate you watching.
Agreed! I kinda feel like an idiot using my hands for so long. Keep up the great work. I have enjoyed cooking a lot more Italian cuisine because of you!
I started using nitrile gloves. Stems from my barbecue cooking. I started gloving up because half the rub got stuck to my hands. Now I glove up any time I handle meat.
@@SipandFeast I'm glad u were making some points about the Burner u regularly use(I was intending on asking u what make they are,but I don't think it's necessary).
At present I use Electric, which I think are Crap compared to Gas,but we what we do to get by!.
.But once again u cooked up a nice meal!
I prefer the "no dry hands" method where I end up with four cubic tons of breadcrumbs stuck to my eggy fingers.
I love your videos dude. Yours is the first channel I've seen that showcases Italian food without being pretentious or insufferable about it. You seem like a decent, down to earth bloke with a passion for Italian cooking
Thanks for the complement. There are unfortunately many channels, not just Italian food, doing the prententious content haha.
I love that your son always taste tests. All your cooking reminds me of home (I'm from lower CT - I even personally know the Sclafani family whose tomatoes you always buy in your videos!). Half of my family is from the Bronx/Westchester/Yorktown. My father was born in Italy and my mother here, so we are the stereotypical Italian-American family. This type of food is something you can replicate but the culture, family ties, and what this food means is something that comes special from the heart, and it's easy to see that is what you and your family know the true value of. Thanks for sharing.
The compliment you have given lets me know that I am moving in the right direction with these videos. I try to only share what I know, and that's Italian-American cooking from the east coast. I love the Sclafani tomatoes because they are a great value and I feel good recommending them to my viewers. I think Sclafani (the ones I use) are owned by B&G. I know there is another Sclafani company as well which is a bit confusing. Thanks for the comment.
There are a lot of great cooking channels on youtube, and I watch and subscribe to quite a few of them. I started watching your videos since a few weeks ago, and have to say that this is my favorite cooking channel! Beyond the food looking great and the process understandable, I think what I appreciate most is your humility, genuineness, and that you're approachable. Rather than looking to entertain or put on a show, what comes off is your desire to share your family cooking with others. There's just something about your channel that feels very homey. Keep up the good work and I have a feeling you are going to become even more popular on YT.
Thanks for the kind words.
Congrats on 200k subscribers! Love the channel.
Thank you very much!
I live in asian countries but I lived for a long time in the US and I love the foods there. Thank you for your recipes, now I can taste them again, cooked by myself.
James is showing his developed tasting skills....you indeed "eat with your eyes first"!!...What a great 👍 looking dish and delicious simple ingredients. I'm excited when you break out the Frantoia....it's so good!
Thanks! It was a dish that definitely needed the good olive oil.
Seriously!! Ive been binge watching your channel. You are highly an inspiration to me and others who watch you. God bless!!
Thanks my friend.
Far more informative, helpful, practical&of course appetizing than most of the the cooking shows on the TV...
And this looked gorgeous!
.And without being disrespectful to the Cook(because he's doing a Stellar Job).for some reason.i can see Beets working with that Salad!!
I love how you explain things like i can’t cook shit, don’t get me wrong, i can’t and that’s what i love in your videos ❤️learn so much in it
Your videos make me much more comfortable cooking with oil. Thanks for the tips, and the relaxed, forgiving way you cook.
Thanks so much!
Made this for my wife and kids on Mother’s Day. Steps were easy and it turned out delicious. Thank you!
This is an amazing suggestion. I have been staying away from cooking videos.... but your channel popped up today. And glad it did because just yesterday I did not know what to do with some cutlets I made. I eat a tremendous amount of pasta but sometimes I need to try something new. A tomato salad like this looks great!
Thanks very much. Welcome to the channel!
Next time you make cutlets, would highly recommend adding a squeeze of half a lemon into the egg. It's subtle but adds great depth/flavor to cutlets. I otherwise cook them exactly the same way.
One of the instructors that trained us for 2 months, 40hrs per week and 8hrs a day said at the beginning of the class "we will learn through repetition". He was a very good teacher/instructor, 33 out of a class of 34 people wound up passing the final exam and went on to work for the company.
Just realized you went from 100k to 200k in less then three months! Congratulations!🎉🎈
This dish is phenomenal
UA-cam pushes a video then I get subs quickly. Then a couple of videos do poorly and it's slower growth for awhile. It's all good though, because I'll just keep posting videos. Thanks for the support!
Amazing how something so simple looks so incredible.
Thanks! I try to make most of the recipes on this channel as simple as I can without losing any flavor.
Howdy James!! I always love watching your videos! You make Italian dishes as easy the way the Julia Child did with french food back in the late 1960's! BRAVO Maestro, BRAVO!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks so much for the awesome complement - really appreciate that.
A tip: let the access stay it gives it that inside juicy and outside crispy layers 🥘
With some garlic croutons, James may have given it a 10 ! I'm so ready for garden tomatoes to make things like this...
Croutons sound great. I'm ready for the whole garden too!
Can't wait to try this! Can never get enough ideas for chicken.
Hope you enjoy it!
In Argentina we call this Supremas or Chiken milanesas. We eat this almost every week and you can find it in every corner of our cities as Milanesa sandwich. Also as Milanesas napolitanas you should definitely try it. Cheers from a new fan from Argentina. ♥
I labeled the dish alla Milanese on my website. But I went for a bit diffrent title here on UA-cam. Thanks for liking the channel!
Looks awesome, especially the cutlets. Such comfort food. I make caprese salad with cherry tomatoes at least times a week all summer. I don't know if you ever tried this other salad, but it's amazing, especially with crusty bread. Slice about 5 or 6 good sized romas and one regular tomato, thin slice a half an onion, add 2 cups water, a tablespoon of oregano, a solid tablespoon or more of good olive oil, a good helping of salt and some fresh cracked pepper. Let it sit on the counter a good 2 or 3 hours to steep. It was something my grandmother made often when they were dirt poor in the 30s and forties and it's absolutely delicious for lunch or as a dinner salad with fish.
I literally do not cook anything. But I love to watch these videos. You do such a good job explaining with “simple cooking with complex looking delivery” it’s amazing. Family oriented. Nice tone. Humble. Great looking food and spirit. God bless you!!
(I don’t cook because I hate washing dishes lol)
Your darling son is right once again! Just made this dish exactly as you instructed and it was delicious!! Is now a new recipe in my list of "go to" favorites!! Thank you so much!
My favorite way too! The fresh Basil really lifts it!
Thank you, Ronnie!
Never clicked on a video this fast! As soon as I get out of this morning sickness and slide into my second trimester, I’m going to make this! And it makes me so happy seeing you with your kids, God bless you guys ❤️
Thanks very much!
Not making an insult, just making a funny. The bread crumb box looks like the cat litter box! lol Love your videos.
I really like your personality with simple and honest approach during entire process.. plus effort to explain (side) details.. great job.. looking forward to try this one by myself..
I like how you're teaching your kids how to cook and taste. You want specifics
Another potential favorite to try. A word on electric stoves: I have always cooked on electric. The one time I had a gas stove, I hated it. When you get down the techniques of using electric (or induction), how the heat builds, and how the pans retain heat, etc... then results are the same. And yes, inductions are expensive, but you can get them as stand alone units (like the small camp cookers you are using) and those are not terribly expensive. I'd rather have two of those units to complement my electric cooktop. Just my opinion and experience.
Most of my life I have cooked with electric stoves. I do think it requires a different cooking style than gas or induction. If I was filming over my electric stove I would go into the technique.. One needs to move the pan away from the heat and wait for the burner to cool down versus gas and induction where you can just lower the heat and get immediate feedback. I do have a stand alone induction, but the wire is a problem and it makes a lot of noise, so I opt for this butane burner setup. Thanks for the comment.
@@SipandFeast i'll send you one from EU, 4 burner inductions goes as low 250 usd
I use my induction when entertaining, love it. got it as a wedding present.
I love your cooking videos! Thank you for posting them. I learn a lot
You are so welcome!
Hello from Manila. I'm a fan and I like your videos. You've certainly expanded my knowldege of cooking Italian food. Keep them coming.
love the vids man I love the baked pasta amazing recipe and i love how relaxing the vids are its not over saturated with hype or drama its the embodiment of cooking at home
Long cooking videos are great. Love watching them.
cutlets like these are my favorite meal. thanks for another great option with the tomato salad. looks so delicious.
Thank you!
Great video. Great food. The food tester giving a 9/10 was a great finishing touch. Love it when the family comes to taste your skills.
Thanks! I intend to always have a taste tester from this point forward.
I’m watching this as we drive to the farm and my husband asks me “I didn’t know Billy Crystal has a cooking UA-cam” never thought about it but there is a little Billy in your voice. I miss a New York accent from when I lived in bronxville.
A few people have said Billy Crystal lol. Bronxville is a beautiful area!
@@SipandFeast I loved it there but love the mountains of Idaho more. Though I miss the grocery selections of New York.
A little chopped basil into that tomato salad WILL do wonders but it looks delicious as is!
200,000 subscribers !!! Congratulations🎉🎉. Your recipes are fabulous 😋
Thanks so much!
Hi Jim, I just made this recipe - everyone was amazed at how such a simple combination of ingredients can taste so good. Thanks!
I made this recipe today, excellent and fresh and light. The cutlets with the Caprese salad is delicious.
Great to hear!
This weekend I followed your instructions and made this for some friends. This whole dish turned out so well. Now I understand why Italians talk with their hands! The food is so good you can’t help but express the joy your having. Thank you for the directions and encouragement.
99 Middleville Rd kid here again... you are killing my Keto diet! LOL but I love it, keep them coming Jim
I made this Saturday night. It is the best Chicken Milanese I have ever made. Thank you!
This will be a great recipe to make for my son, he has type 1 and the mozzarella (0 carbs) and tomato salad are very low in carbs, thank you. Good alternative for him to carb heavy pasta.
I hope you both enjoy it!
Can't wait to try this recipe this week for lunch! Thank you for always inspiring us to make tasty dishes 😊
Another excellent recipe and presentation - Thank you!
This looks so amazing!! Great system for breading. Thank you for sharing!! Can't wait to try this myself!!
This looks like a dish I will love-tomatoes and mozzarella ❤️❤️
I hope you enjoy it!
That looks absolutely scrumptious! I will definitely try this one. Thank you!!
This looks sooo good! Think I'll make it tomorrow. I have always used a gas stove. I love it. I've tried electric stoves when we've been in vacation rentals and never liked it.
Thanks. I hope you enjoy it!
One of my all time favs 👏👏👏👏
Thanks for this recipe!!! It is absolutely DELICIOUS!!!!!!!
This is how my mom made them and although I've tried, hers were always the best. I'll give this recipe a try this weekend!
Hope you enjoy it!
This has quickly become one of my favorite meals! I love caprese salad, and I love chicken cutlets, but somehow I'd never considered combining the two. I was always a little nervous shallow-frying, but because I keep making this recipe, I've gotten so much better at it. 10/10, really love this one.
Sir, your videos are masterfully simple and a joy to watch.
I just made a first attempt at this recipe and thankfully the family Loved it...thank you very much for sharing and please keep them coming
Another winner, James. Great job!
I make this same salad and put it on grilled steak for the hubby. This is his favorite summer salad from the garden.
Sounds great!
Looks delicious, as always! Perfect light, delicious meal for the warmer weather. Going on my meal plan for the upcoming weeks!
Hope you enjoy it.
Well done! Very clear and thorough presentation. Looks delicious!
Made this for dinner twice this week! Incredibly delicious, love this channel!!
These will be such great memories for you guys
I made this the other day and I think it’s the best meal I’ve ever made. Thank you!
I just made this recipe tonight!! I’d been wanting to try it for a few weeks and I was surprised how relatively low-stress it was.
The results: FANTASTIC!! Breading was amazing and the Caprese topping was so light and flavorful. Kids destroyed it. Thanks for the video!!
Dude this is a home run
Love watching you cook brother
By far the best cooking channel on UA-cam. I don't know what Patreon is but I'll find out and start supporting.
Thanks very much! Patreon is a subscription service where I make other exclusive videos. It is linked in the description above.
If you decided to make a cookbook with every one of the recipes you put on youtube, I'd easily buy two! I'm sure most of your other followers would agree. Just saying!
It is coming soon. Thanks for the support!
@@SipandFeast I’ll definitely purchase one.
Just awsome cooking videos
I might have to try this. Being of German heritage, I automatically think Hühnerschnitzel, and do them that way.
looks great, thanks
made this today, tastes amazing
Man I really love your videos and recipes. I found your channel recently, so glad UA-cam made the suggestion. This is gonna be our sunday's meal, thanks a lot ❤️
That looks amazing. I love your channel.
Wow, I never thought of putting a caprese salad on top of the cutlet … delicious!! Thanks for that Jim!
You got it! This is one of my favorites during the summer. It's a great way to use fast growing cherry tomatoes.
Made this tonight! I halved everything because it's just me and the hubs, and I butterflied (butterflyed?) the chicken instead of cutting through completely. There are no leftovers 🥰
I like the way your son grades you. Keep him coming
Good recipe for the summer garden!! Thank you !
My pleasure.
Looks absolutely amazing. I’m going to give this a try for dinner tomorrow night.
Hope you enjoy the recipe.
Love ur style, and you really illustrate how cooking great food is not that hard. Great video
Thank you very much.
Delicious and simple. Plus, I also tried it in the air fryer as an experiment and it was great that way too!!! Enjoy your channel. Thanks for all your hard work!!
looks wonderful... super fresh and bright!
Thank you!
This looks so good. I need to make this!
Jim, thank you again ;) Will be making this tonight. And will always be watching. My family sends you love. You are a blessing. ;)
I hope you and your family enjoy it. I appreciate you watching.
Looks like a real fresh meal for the spring or early summer. I enjoy watching you cook up these awesome meals. Thank you for sharing.
You are so welcome!
Made this for lunch today. Delicious!!! This is going into my rotaton. Thanks!
I just found your channel, and I’m loving it! The recipes look like foods my family would enjoy, but I think it’s your delivery that makes it for me (and your son). Unpretentious, informative, and friendly! I’m excited to keep watching and exploring all the videos I haven’t seen yet.
Thank you and welcome to the channel!
🥳🥳Congratulations on 200,000!!!!🥳🥳
Listening at first without sound I thought....oh no! Tomatoes and marshmallows. DUH!
Thanks Jim and James!
Lol. I can definitely see that. Thanks, Marty!
As usual, wonderful recipe!
Thank you!
Appreciate all your videos. Keep up the good work
Thanks, will do!
Made it! Loved it!! The chicken was nice and crispy and wow the tomatoes!! I found out how to make my caprese salad that I ate in Israel due to this recipe! Thank you again! This weekend is the creamy mushroom pasta!
Looks delicious and so colorful! 🤗
Thanks very much!
Another winner Jim, made it tonight and it was simple and tasty!
This looks like a great recipe for a light meal. Yum. Learned how to correctly fry on oil with that tip on flipping and turning food away from one’s self. Thanks!
Another amazing video!!! It came out looking delicious. 🙌🏽
Thank you so much!
Made it last night! Once again you done good!! Keep it up and my wife may stick around!! Thanks for all your hard work!
That looks really good. I have to try this.
Looked delicious. Another great video. Thanks.
