Louisiana Rail Productions Thanks bishop! How do you like these mega trains? If my subscribers like them then I'll keep posting them but if not then i wont. Thought?
Wow. A 272 car intermodal. I guess that is now your longest train (and it beats my longest train by 14 cars). Last weekend I was watching CN and CP in the Thompson River Canyon and CN routinely runs huge intermodal trains as well. I saw three that exceeded 200 cars: 208, 225, and 235. The shortest of those three trains had three units at the front while the other two were 1x1x1. When CN's people see your videos, they are then going to look at their transcontinental mainline between Toronto and Vancouver and say "yes we can do this too." The major advantage CN has over BNSF are the lower grades. BNSF has to contend with the Arizona Divide and Cajon Pass with these massive intermodal. The advantage BNSF has over CN is that all but four miles (I believe) of their Transcon is double-tracked and so running massive trains like this would not been an issue from a capacity perspective, although CN doesn't haul as much tonnage on their Transcon compared to BNSF. That being said, I hope these huge trains become routine. By the way, something I wanted to point out to you on Google Earth. If you put in Paola, KS, and follow UP's mainline northeast of the town, you will find a UP manifest in its entirety not to far away. The train has a locomotive setup 3x2x1 and it is 219 cars (at least that is what I counted). You should do some videos at Paola. It is a junction point for BNSF and UP for their lines from Kansas City to Missouri, Arkansas, and Texas and according to the Hot Spots guide from 2012, there are over 50 daily freight trains. I need to make a point to go Kansas to watch trains.
ABALLAM3 Thanks for watching! Yes, these are becoming common here for bnsf with 2 WBs and 2 EBs of these potentially per week. These must be working. How will CN people see my vids? In regards to Paola, KS there is a diamomd there and where bnsf and UP meet. The UP line goes all the way to KCMO but before then it passes Martin city, Mo. On my videos the most recent with a girl crossing the track before mega train comes is a result of that line NB and SB trains go thru there often if not on the BNSF fort scott sub. I may have to go over there and see if that train is there. 3x2x1 is exactly what i need for another monster catch! Yep come to the midwest you'll love it!
I don't that train is still there in person. The image from Google Maps dates back for a while. In reference to the CN comment, those who build and operate trains will observe yours (and perhaps) videos in regards to these lengths. CN loves testing the limit of train lengths and they may study the length of these test trains on BNSF.
great video. it's interesting that the eb 16k is bigger than the wb one. Down the road just be ready for the longer altwsp or wspalt trains with the expansion at alliance, tx
signalman71 Thanks! Yeah coming out of CA i think they're empty could be wrong so they carry more thus a reduction in 1 engine lol 4x3x2 vs WB 5x3x2. Empty containers don't weigh as much as loaded ones do. Well I'll look forward to those trains getting bigger also. You got the scoop on those trains?
OregonBornTrainFanatic Thanks for the sub! I'll return the favor! If you like long trains I have numerous vids of those including this series titled" MEGA TRAINS OF BNSF". These are the mega trains currently in rotation. I also have a video of a 14,000 ft manifest as well. Feel free to also check out my heritage unit playlist, Amtrak, special units, etc. Thanks for becoming a subscriber to my channel.
I heard a few years ago that bnsf is planning on having a max 1,200 railcar megatrain that will go a far distance without stopping, except for red lights, with no man crew, just all of the locomotives will be operated by a computer.
Just to ask, how r the middle engines powered-r they left in idle r what,I am baffled how the engines power up and down when required,I would appreciate if someone could answer this for me!Duz-T, thanks
@@KCUnionStationTrains I guess what I am trying to say is....how are the mid engines controlled by the lead unit? Seeing as though they are within in the middle and at the end...is there a controlling device of some sort
American Super Freight/s Intermodal Rock's, we don't have Intermodal here at New Zealand, but hold-up I haven't been to the South Island for years there could be down those ways the Island is over a thousand miles long so there could be down there, I ain't seen any in the North Island where I live [New Zealand Railways- Freights & Services * NZ Government Owned * Goods Shed Checker Supervisor * Shunter/switcher * Government Certified Fork Hoist Operations * 1975-77] ..
Nice to see my homestate Norfolk Southern on the BNSF!
2:36 what's up with that streak there?
Mega train is just the right way to describe it! Great video!

I actually enjoy it a lot. I always like seeing just how big a freight train can get lol
Louisiana Rail Productions Thanks for the advice!

They are controlled by the lead unit
@@KCUnionStationTrains is there a special coupling that controls that?? Also if one engine fails for some reason or another....what usually happens??
@@Bench485 no there is no special coupling and all units are controlled by the lead unit. if a unit fails others will pick up the slack.

Excellent Man 😎
Is the 7099 damaged?
What a bing on the fuel tank?
They must have unloaded a whole cargo ship on to that train.
Lmao I believe this!
