  • So out of sheer curiosity, I went to Sims subreddit, and holy moly was I surprised - turns out that the people who play the Sims aren't too dissimilar from those of you who play Melee. I'm sure there's even some overlap!
    I could elaborate on my point further but I'm not going to. I will appreciate though that if someone searches onto UA-cam, "Armada Sims" that this video will likely be the first result.
    Is that an achievement? Hard to say. It amuses me at the very least, which is good enough for me!

    I feel like including local sets vs leffen is a little odd since most of those happened while leffen was still learning the game. Like obviously they still happened, but leffen playing armada while he was still on the come up is very different than leffen playing armada after he was a top level threat.
    This isn't to say it was wrong to include, but it shows how purely statistical analysis can miss parts of the bigger picture

      Yes, yes, YES!
      Absolutely agree - you can paint some inaccurate pictures with statistics and how they don't always tell the full story. It's like how if you see someone 3-0 someone else - sure it could have been a complete wash, but maybe all three of those games were very, _very_ close - it's just that one person happened to win all three of them.
      Thanks for the comment Kevin, glad you pointed that out!

    I can't understand anyone ranking mango ahead of him if results, consistency or overall dominance are their most valued metrics. I know there's the whole MJ-lebron argument - Lebron was active longer and stayed at the top for a very long time, while MJ has his 2 3-peats. It comes down to what you value more, and since their careers didn't overlap, it's hard to say who was "greater". The difference here, however, is that armada's "MJ" won his championships while mango's "lebron" was actively competing. It boggles my mind to hear people claim that the guy whose stats were blown out of the water by armada's by every metric over the duration of armada's career (with 2015-2018 being an absolute bloodbath) is somehow the greater player. And this was despite Armada having to travel from sweden for everything and having close to zero high-level competition/practice partners in all of EU. I mean, how long of a time span do you need to accept that a player was better than another? If you value staying active and well ranked for a longer amount of time, that's fine and reasonable, but ranking a player who was noticeably worse than armada over a several-year time span above him seems weird to me.

    Nice video dude! It was really cool to see the legacy of Armada strictly by the numbers to put it in proper perspective. This would be a sick mini-series if you did one for Mang0 or any others you think would be interesting too!

      Hey thanks Travis -
      And I agree! Making this video has made me wonder about other players, so I think coming up in the New Year I might try my hand at making more of these.
      Glad you liked the video!

    1:01 Even 2015 Armada edge-guards better than most top players today

    Only if armada comes back to take sets from the new top players in tournament then he can get his so precious goat title

    • @Frudgey
      @Frudgey  2 роки тому

      I really do think that Armada cares a lot about the GOAT title, and if I'm allowed to be an armchair psychologist for a minute, part of me suspects he stopped competing due to the pressure. Just speculation on my end though.
      Thanks for watching the video nggaish!

    It would be good to see a Hungrybox video too if you're doing a Mang0 video as well. At least to use him as a baseline to compare the other two to. I heard he has the most major tournament wins of all time technically.

    • @Frudgey
      @Frudgey  2 роки тому

      I saw a Reddit post on the Melee subreddit talking about that - and yeah I absolutely agree! I think that's what's so interesting though is that Hungrybox often gets glossed over in the GOAT debate when really he's got some pretty comparable records.
      Thanks for tuning in A Guy!

    Love this style of video, keep it up!
    1 thing that stuck out to me tho was M2K Armada's set record. I'm positive M2K has taken more than 1 set win off of Armada. Once with Fox, three times at least at Summits, once at SSC, and once at that UCF (or whatever it was called lol) tourney. No shade, obviously, just curious?

    • @Frudgey
      @Frudgey  2 роки тому +1

      I would be inclined to say that you're right - it's MORE than likely that I made some errors making this. I mean, I had to do two corrections IN the video as I made a couple of goofs in the editing process!
      Something else to mention as well is that the data I pull isn't guaranteed to be 100% accurate - while I trust it more than if I were to manually pull it myself, it's also possible that there's just some things missing.
      And lastly, it's supposed to be a "7", not a "1" - I thought about that when I made the video that the text looked a bit hard to decipher! So maybe 7 losses is a little more believable?
      Anyways thanks for commenting SMALLSandJOE, hopefully that offers some explanation. Thanks for watching and for the words of encouragement!

      @@Frudgey ahhh 7 instead of a 1 makes a ton of sense. That ones on me LOL! Yeah, no negativity here at all! Was a sick video and shared some really cool facts, if I tried making it it wouldn't be anywhere even close to as good as yours is!

    Armada Sims... You monster. I can't believe you're not going to elaborate on something in the description, but you are definitely going to accomplish what you set out to do. Armada Sims.
    Similarly, in the B0XX Discord server, there is an emote called Poggerga (a combination of Poggers and Peppega) that can't be found anywhere but our Discord, but it started pulling up random UA-cam videos.
    It turns out that my friend and I commenting :poggerga: every time we find each other on a comment section made it so searching poggerga brought up every video we had hit with it so far. By this logic, all we need to do is comment Armada Sims everywhere we want it to appear.
    As far as the topic at hand, Mang0 is the 🐐, but Armada kept him from playing well his entire career. It's going to be hard for Mang0's record to ever match Armada's since he no longer really cares to do anything but stream (because it's more constantly more profitable), and he only cares to go to tournaments when Zain is going, which is not too often.
    Thanks for the video, and I hope this becomes a series! It reminds me of AsumSaus's old channel's content (now ArchiveSaus), which was very driven by records of sets and random data that he made into something special.
    PS-The goats at the beginning were cool, but I missed your huskies.
    Cheers!

      Ha maybe I can elaborate on my thoughts in a future video! I like your thinking with regards to "Armada Sims" though haha.
      I think I'd agree that Mang0 is the GOAT (at least in my eyes), but Armada certainly had a heck of a run. I definitely wouldn't mind doing more videos like these ones as it's just fun to look at the data.
      Thanks for tuning in Pslamist SSB, hope things are well!
      P. S. Yes, I need to get more dog footage!

    Does anybody know if Mango has a losing record against anybody else than Armada?

    • @Frudgey
      @Frudgey  2 роки тому

      That's not something I know off the top of my head - I remember looking it up and I _think_ he might have a losing record against Armada and Zain but I'm not entirely sure.

    when did trif beat armada? im super out of the loop here

    • @Frudgey
      @Frudgey  2 роки тому

      So the data told me that was the case, and I looked it up and found this:
      ua-cam.com/video/49gCrLofz4g/v-deo.html
      Though interestingly enough, this video makes the case for not including it into Armada's set of losses:
      ua-cam.com/video/p3705hB-pGY/v-deo.html
      So something to consider! The statistics don't always tell the full picture!
