Came into this at a random point now but will follow from start, really wanna get into vehicle and car modelling anyways. So far, everything is super straight forward. I like what I see and will probably enjoy following along.
For all the automotive people out there, also keep in mind that the gaps on cars are slightly different depending on the panel and not all the same. Door, and trunk lines tend to be a bit wider, sometimes on the hood too. It also largely depends on the what car you're making, older cars didn't have super tight gaps like modern cars do, and even some modern cars mess it up from time to time. Make sure you keep an eye out if you're using references as it will add more authenticity to your model. If you're building fictional cars, ask yourself what kind of manufacturer is this, if its expensive luxury/high tech then the gaps would be tighter and precise, if its a cheap soviet mobile, the gaps are going to be horrific.
That's a great point, I used different gap measurements for different parts of he 240z. Details like this will really help push the realism of your vehicles.
Hi Mars, new sub here, i would like to know how do you deal with sphere forms thats has hard edges like the Chain Chomp from mario, i have a problem trying to keep the sphere form smooth when i add edges for the teeh to keep them with hard corners
Hi Nacho, in the specific case of modeling something like chain chomp, I would keep the teeth modular, so keep them separate objects. If you really want to keep it all one object, then I recommend increasing the amount subdivisions before adding the teeth. That will allow you to have the edge flow to extrude more detailed areas. @@OnMars3D thank you for the reply!, i used the chain chomp as an example but in the case of the model i want to create (that i took it from a concept art) it has the teeth and the head all in one, its doesnt have a line that divides it like the chain chomp, anyways im going to try you advice thank you!
Honestly people and even institution charge Hundreds of Dollars, yet they don't teach so in-depth techniques. You sir are doing this for so long teaching so in-depth, its a shame people are not realizing what they are being taught. Its just that mentality that free can't be great. But I really appreciate your efforts. Thank you sir.

Correct, but as always, it depends on the use case of the model. In the case of a vehicle or gun, you can combine all static parts but you would need to make sure the parts that move are separate.

Thank you for all your videos and really useful tips, I've been trying to follow along this series but I end up with a wobbly surface each time I try to add in some details... I've restarted 3 times now and it feels really demotivating to fail over and over, but I'll keep on going in the hope that one day my models will look nearly as clean as yours.
Be sure not to sweat small amount of pinching here and there, if its super noticeable sure, but don't get stuck on very small areas that may not even be seen. Always keep your final goal in mind, if the camera doesn't get close to what might be considered a 'minor mistake' then you have to make a choice whether you want to spend the extra time or just move on with your life. Always remember that Subd modeling is simply an approximation, if you want perfect surfaces you'll need to go learn cad software.

So in order to create game assets all these parts don't need to be a part of the same mesh? They can be separate and just combine them all at the end?

Just keep practicing. It may help modeling simpler objects and then coming back to the vehicle modeling. You will eventually get it!

Waste of time video. This is way too long and inneficient method even for subd there are more simpler ways.
