This sounds so freakin amazing. I was contemplating buying a brand new Prophet 6 but if I can get a good deal on a Prophet 08 and make it sound like that it would be a no-brainer.
+thaiiland2003 Thank you! Well, in case you should decide for the Prophet '08, these patches are available for purchase: mikehiegemann.com/sound-design/prophet-08-sounds/
Paul Dither You're very welcome. I'm thinking hard on picking up the REV2 8 voice, I currently have a Korg Triton, Kurzweil PC3, and a broken yet passing audio OBXA. What's your honest opinion on the REv2? I'm not a synth collector but am looking for really my last synth to purchase, to get back to making music and stop window shopping, and the REV2 would more than likely be my last synth and only working analog. My taste in music in older Brian Eno, Tangerine Dream, King Crimson, and Boards of Canada. I'm hearing that the Rev2 can cover a lot of this territory, but I AM into more mellow sounds with less filter sizzle. There's just not a lot of demos on the gentler side of the Rev2.
If you're into a really flexible analog poly synth with lots of voices, then you should definitely take a look at the Rev2. I'm not sure whether you watched my Rev2 overview. It's over here: ua-cam.com/video/kqcE1OjWtZE/v-deo.html It's not quite the shortest video you'll find, but I also demonstrated some sounds in the end (in the description you'll find out where to jump to). It'll definitely allow you to create mellow sounds or timbres you'd use in genres like Ambient.
Paul Dither Ah, very good. Thanks for the response. I'll make some afternoon coffee and watch the video. Yes, great, I'm really looking forwards to finding out more about this machine. Thanks.
Ive been saving for a Juno 60 but after trying one of these it's so tempting. There's a Prophet 08 for sale near me but its the encoder version. Any idea what the difference is? Also what price should I pitch to the guy to buy it?
You'll find some info about the pot vs encoder issue over here: www.davesmithinstruments.com/note-dave-concerning-encoder-issues/ DSI are still selling a potentiometer conversion kit for the Prophet '08. You'll find it here: www.davesmithinstruments.com/product/prophet-08-pe-conversion-kit/ While I can't really suggest a price you should be buying a Prophet '08 for, as it also depends on the shape it's in, you should consider the price for the above mentioned conversion kit when negotiating.
nice video showing the sounds of this great instrument, thank you!
Thank you, Pure Ambient Drone! Much appreciated.
Have a tetra coming my way and gave this a listen for inspiration. Nice work.
Love the valhalla vintage verb, too. Hard not to put on everything!

+rss313 Thanks a lot!

The first melody sounds like the Doom Victory theme
A trick: watch movies at flixzone. I've been using them for watching a lot of movies during the lockdown.
@Eddie Jairo Yup, I have been using flixzone} for months myself :D
@Eddie Jairo Definitely, been using Flixzone} for years myself :D
Hi, great sounds, I look forward to loading them onto my P08, but how much is the sound set? I can't see a price anywhere when I click the link..
