This is a great tutorial, thank you! Is there a way I can buy or download more shapes on Photoshop? I am not much of an artist so I haven't been able to design my own.

You can also use the lasso tool and then right click with the lasso inside the marked area then select "make work path" 2, the ok.

I would like to create a kind of tiles or little "windows" thru which another layer would be visible. I would like to be able to make the distances between these tiles thicker or thinner and to manipulate the number of the tiles. Can a shape like that be created the way you showed us or do I need to know some Adobe scripting language or something similar? (Like VBA in MS Office.)

  • @Gretaly

To eliminate the distortion and make a sharp angle you just alt+click on the point you just created and the curve point will disappear. There's no need to alt click and drag the curve point, it just makes things more complex and unecessary and kinda a waste of time :) It works on CS6 and CC that I've used.

I have made a shape in idraw and brought it ps as a .psd . I want to make it a custom shape in ps but it is not allowing me, the define custom shape is greyed out. What am I doing wrong? Is there a pixel limit size? Is there a way to transform the marching ants to a pen tool editable object so I can do it like you have said?

Create on an colourless layer in black the form you want to achieve. Make a selection, go to the path Pallet and make your custom shape.

why is it that every tutorial feels the need to discuss 10 other things that have nothing to do with the main task at hand.... Come on people - a 1 minute video would have served the purpose. If wanted to know how to use the pen tool, I would be looking at that tutorial.

why. do talented people with Photoshop have no clue how to deliver an instruction or tutorial in a slow manner which everyone. can grasp??? Is it a matter of showing off or are you too busy to give a tutorial that all viewers can grasp without having to play over and over and pause over and over??? I suggest you take a tutorial on how to give a tutorial, especially a video tutorial!! Remember, its not about YOU, its about those trying to learn how you do it, not how fast you are!!!
