Shaye is an outstanding musician and band leader. She is fluent on cornet and piano and unselfish sharing the limelight with all the members of the band. A true inspiration and beautiful as well.
Such a perfect leisurely "beat" for this old standard. Nice solo by the clarinetist . Tuba Skinny plays with such a "tasty" tone throughout. Then - there's the lovely Erika !
You know, Erika, is a wonderful singer, and we have to be thankful for anything Erika does. It's a gift! Thank you Tuba Skinny, and thank you Erika, you ARE precious! 5 STARS!*****
Been listening to Tuba for at least 10 yrs and have been lucky enough to catch them in N.O. What a great sound and so happy all these tunes up on You Tube. Just great sound, a delight to the ears.
Clearly it was Shaye's idea for the rhythm gentlemen to play 'threes' behind James' solo half-chorus (note her fingers signal at 2 mins 47 secs) before Erika resumed the vocal at the Middle Eight. And then Shaye's idea again ('bridge' signal with the fingers at 3 mins 57 secs) for the whole band, led by Todd, to round it off from the Middle Eight rather than go back to the beginning. How much more interesting than the dreary series of 32-bar solos we get from most bands! Incidentally, this performance (in Bb) sounds brighter than the one I videoed three years ago when they played the song in Ab: ua-cam.com/video/QLl8-M5rwq0/v-deo.html And then there was the performance filmed by James Sterling in 2016 when they played it (without Erika) in Eb: ua-cam.com/video/oAdbOoFsAlY/v-deo.html Three performances of the same song in three different keys!
@@omt6852 Thanks, omt 68. If you have not already done so, you may be interested to see James playing 'Weary Blues' with Tuba Skinny when he first moved to New Orleans six years ago. Our friend RaoulDuke504 filmed that one too: ua-cam.com/video/x4EawdDWF3M/v-deo.html
Pops Coffee, thanks so much for writing your book, "Tuba Skinny and Shaye Cohn". It is a real treasure of information about the group. It was my greatest musical find this year! Love their music! Thanks again. Art
A bientôt
Pops Coffee => Thanks Analysis. For my taste the Rhythm Gentlemen with THREE string-instruments under Erika Lewis vocals .....a little too "heavy". (03.25).
Thanks for posting this DIAMOND 💎❤ . This is to my opinion THE BEST VERSION of Little Coquette from Tuba Skinny
Erlka is wonderful, everything !!

Perfect tempo for this tune! Written in 1928 by Gus Kahn (words), Carmen Lombardo & Johnny Green (music.)
I love it
Foot-tappingly good to the last note, as usual. Thank you for sharing this with us.

Who’s the clarinet player? He’s great - also love the saxonette style bell!
👍🏼
If there were such a thing as reincarnation, I would come back as a Tuba Skinny bass drum!
Je préfère Érika ! 🙂
OK, pour le plaisir de se faire taper dessus par Erika !!
Sado-maso ??
Good news and bad.
Good: There is such a thing...
Bad: You don't get to pick....
