It not always opaque, the stuff I get from my local orchard is almost as clear as the apple juice they sell right next to it. Personally I like the clear stuff better, I don't like the occasional gritty sensation of most apple ciders.

in england the difference is easy. cider is alcoholic. juice isn't

UK version cider is alcohol juice is not in fact the rest of the world it works this way
