Howdy Folks! I have received a few harsh comments about me throwing the rope in the water at 6:14 . The rope lure is still attached to my fishing line. I used it again on the next fish. It may be hard for some people to see the line attached so I understand. God bless and thank you for watching.

Richard Gene The Fishing Machine someone, somewhere always has something to say. At your age and mine, we’ve learned to pay no attention to knit-pickers. GET OUTTA HERE, YOU OLE THANGS!!

Who cares, some people just have to complain. Anyone who watches ur videos for more than 5 minutes will know that you respect and protect all fish and don't do things that are detrimental to them. (Way fewer fish ever go into "the bucket" than most anglers would) ur a true conservationist and sportsman!

I see 100k subs in your future soon, Richard. I can't think of a UA-camr at the moment who deserves it more.
    Thank you, Richard.
The only time I ever caught a gar it was a big one about 3-4ft long I snagged on the tail somehow with a diving plug. Since he was caught by the tail he didn't fight a lot but he sure had some teeth. I've never fished for them but you have me wanting to try the rope trick!
Too bad I'm up here in Washington state.
Interesting trivia about longnose gar. They'll lay eggs in a smallmouth bass' nest and the bass allows it.

Yes, the omniflex lol. Great line for the price. Only thing I've been using for mono aside from it is the high vis Mr. Crappie line, think it's like a 1300 yard spool for $6-8. Haven't had issues with it for my smaller spinning set ups at all.

I used to several years ago go down to Kentucky lake twice a year in the spring and fall for crappie. The one place I Always wanted to go was down in your neck of the woods a place called Weiss lake for there crappie. Are they as big on a regular basis as some that I have seen from there. I have seen several in the 4-5 lb category. Love what you do and keep up the good work.

I've recently been fishing in spots where the surface of the water is boiling with gar blow ups, and now I have got to catch one. I really appreciate the brief comments about gar not being hurtful to the ecosystem, because they are in fact native and important like anything else. Still, even people I know will openly talk about killing big gator gar if they hook them.

Gar has become more abundant in the Arkansas river where I fish. I decided a few years ago that the next one I caught, I was going to clean it and eat it. Surprisingly, it wasn't bad. It was a pain cleaning it but I think it would become easier the more you did it. I still prefer catfish and less gar, though.

Curiosity question. If you catch a far for eating...how should you string it up? I am overnight fishing on creek and have a gar who keeps stealing my bait, and I want to catch and cook. Just not sure how to land this fish. He is about a 3 ft gar...and I am out for catfish, carp, bass, crappie, bluegill, gar... whatever I can catch.
I am still learning how to do this and don't know how to use a bait caster or spinning reel. I just have the push button rods. Only rod I ever learned how to use.
I don't have gloves either. So any tips on not getting cut up would help as well.
