- While Celebrating Carnival in Rio De Janeiro Brazil all the local Brazil girls that I met kept telling me not visit the dangerous bloco parties in el centro of the city. They say the party is good and many Brazilian girls go however it's not safe for foreigners. I decided to tag along with Timmy Carter and see just how dangerous this Brazil block party can get

I feel like with most places as long you stay aware of your surroundings you'll be fine. Sometimes people will like hurt you for your stuff but that's not often in big public spaces like this. @@historynetwork852 You have a good country as I saw myself. Yes crime is a big problem, the people were great to me. I was going cat charity work in Rio at Campo Santana but at the time has a Philippine girlfriend. We were in Sao Paolo and Rip and in between on a car. I have a lot of money left over and also form Colombia, so I need to go back and spend it, plus I am single. if I meet someone maybe we are together forever as I am 55 and no need to work and retiring now so maybe I move to them :-) Gary

I am from New Zealand. I visted Rio twice in 2011 and 2012 both years while carnival was on. I was told by people I knew that I would loose a kidney if I visited the beaches..lol...I walked at night by myself, partied with my Brazilian GF and her friends, partied with people I met in hostels and walked around during the day in central Rio and on all the beaches by myself and with different people. I didnt have one issue. I find warnings from people saying its dangerous to be always overrated. In saying that, I blended in, was always aware of my surroundings, never took valuables with me and most importantly I never looked like a victim. Be sensible, be smart and you will be all good.
Been there done that, but fact is that it REALLY is dangerous. When I was t there I think 21 people were killed in a day in one of the largest shootouts and maybe 30 wounded. that was Rio in 2021 or 2022, I forget as I was going abck and forth to met my X-Philippine girlfriend during the lockdowns and spent months in Brazil with her. My friends from USA and Thailand (a married couple) witnessed a mass robbery and said the police literally watched and did not move to help. In 25 countries I have been to, it is the leader in danger walking around. Even in 90 day fiancée video got filed in Brazil, the only time the star got robbed on the video-hehe.

As a Brazilian, this party is really dangerous, but as you can see, everyone says it and goes anyway, if you take good care of your things, you can have fun, that's why everyone keeps going, and Brazil even with a lot of girls wearing a bikini (specifically at the carnival) doesn't mean you can do whatever you want, if you try to harm a girl and she screams in the middle of the crowd, basically you're going to get out of there dead, nobody in Brazil allows women to be disrespected at these parties, they can dance as much as they want, you can only do something if you have permission (this is not for Volp, just for the chat anyway)
when going to a dangerous party, the best thing to do is make brazilian friends and hang out with them
