I religiously watch your Sit Reps. Thanks for these. They really help to keep me sane, otherwise I would be riding this roller coaster of hope and despair.
In terms of negotiating the number of trucks going through the crossing, I interpreted it as valid only for the first stages of the agreement, but that Hamas ultimately demands an end to the siege.

Netanyahu personally cannot afford to agree to a ceasefire because he knows it would be the end for him - a trial certainly - imprisonment hopefully.😁
The resistance will throw everything into the protection of Raffa.
Watching Jon's reports on EI I am increasingly impressed by the creativity and ingenuity of the resistance groups, and the extent of their ability to surveil the IOF, particularly capturing IOF drones and thereby drone videos.
Like Nasrullah they are patient and this leads them to the correct stategy to defeat the IOF - who still sit windows!

Once again I will say that I am so glad for your sit reps. We are in such a dark moment. I was up late into the night thinking about Rafah. You said it well, it's the unthinkable of the unthinkable. For months we've been saying each new horror brings new levels of shock. That continues, especially now. Bombing tents, for the love of God! Honestly this is going to take a toll on me, not to minimize the toll on Palestinians whose suffering is incomparable to mine. So much loss for humanity itself. Of course the same was true for the many other genocides. And yet. I'm not going to be the same. I'm having trouble participating in social things anymore. It's sort of like Tamara said in tankie therapy a while back - things lose their meaning in a world that allows this to happen. That said, your messages brings...what is it, grim hope? Or steadfastness, I suppose, and clarity. It's helpful.

Israel has never never never had the intention since 1946 to make peace in the middle East because they don't feel good in a peaceful space. Their attitude is anger hate supremacy control fear etc projecting their inne tortured self onto life ,others etc, they truly believe they are victims. All of this is the description or portrait of an evil narcissistic psychopath.
So they're not interested in making a deal in any way shape or form with Palestinians.

Justin, I love your analysis and I love the fact that you share a meta position of the analysis with the audience. Yet, you seem to ignore or minimize the drivers of the dynamic in your framing, whether they exist in your analysis or not. The role of the dynamics between investment capital interests are as germane to the analysis as the political governing dynamics and their weapons capabilities. People are "the governments" and the "oligarchy", as we all know but gloss over. Choices and permissions to hold authority are the foundations of the dynamics. IMHO, we need to bring more attention to the heads of the hydras who are fighting each other at our expense.

Justin, thank you for your ongoing sit reps! I was wondering, if you think it would be a worthwhile idea, if maybe you could discuss at some point this idea that Arama brought up during Tankie Therapy 14 about how people outside of Palestine need to be like opening up their own fronts against the empire, I think in the sense of seeing more of these struggles in different places around the world as interconnected (hopefully I'm not getting her point too mixed up). I'm especially wondering about this given all sorts of discourse and disagreements I see about protests needing to stay focused on Gaza (usually I see it phrased as Gaza rather than Palestine) and not bringing in other issues or making it about the protesters themselves.

    • @CircaBEFORE
      @CircaBEFORE Місяць тому

I was listening to Colonial Outcasts and they were talking about the need to get everyday americans to relate to what is happening in palestine. Like we need an on ramp for those many people who literally have no time for anything but their own survival, and also they may not be people who can relate or even understand “free palestine” and just associate it with radicals. So Mark and Wally sort of put a call out there to bring the right leaning people into the fight against israel and the empire at large-and understand it from a freedom from foreign influence perspective. So instead of saying Free Palestine, we could say things like Free America from Israel etc. because IT IS ALL CONNECTED. I’m American and my govt are the number one world govt keeping israel as the fascist, racist apartheid state it is now, without the US, israel would be put into its place. Every day People not focused on the injustices around the world and relate to what effects them directly, domestic issues always determine a presidential election in the US , (except most of us who are subbed on this channel def see the big picture) When talking about the devastation I believe we also should not separate Gaza from the west bank because the west bank are experiencing violence from the IOF more than ever. What is happening in Gaza will ramp up and continue full scale in the West Bank if israel isn’t stopped.

not only that, but the systematic cruelty with which they mistreat said palestinian captives leaves clear traces and i can't see them gladly letting those scarred and maimed people go in their hundreds and thousands without a massive effect to their mighty image of being civilized, democratic and the Good Ones. sure, the world knows much about the reality already, but having all of the abused people go at once can't be something they want to see happen. that would seem a possible aspect of the logic of hannibalism.
eventually, the truth will be known and it will be clear that the first victims of the gazacide were usraelis murdered in their hundreds by their own maniacal rulers.

Great & necessary work Justin, thank you for doing this service.
I’ve really come around to your characterization of the ruling class of the US and of Israel as being one and the same (as opposed to the more traditional imperial patron-junior partner/client state relationship). The letter threatening the ICC even explicitly tied US and Israeli sovereignty together. This is existential for them, and from your reporting/analysis it seems clear this atrocity will not be brought to an end by the US. And we also know Israel cannot win a military victory over the Palestinian Resistance. So Israel will suffer defeat, in some form or another, and that means the US will too. You’ve spoken a lot about the severe disintegration of Israeli social fabric that their approach to this conflict is unleashing (re abandoning hostages), and how it is creating an unsustainable society. I suppose I’m wondering-what does that mean for US society? For its geopolitical “reputation”? I don’t think they recover from this, not this time, and I want a smart person to tell me what that might look like.

I agree, while university encampment movements are powerful but the flow-on effects won't be fast enough for holding off the genocidal destruction of Gaza. The resistance is more a direct force.
Thank you Justin for touching on the issue of the war of attrition vs destruction. Yes the despair sometimes gets so unbearable, makes a lot of sense. While I am hoping that this start of Rafah invasion is just some put on show before accepting defeat ie Ceasefire deal (so they can propagandise to the world and their own people) that they've won, the nature of Netanyahu and his right wing cabinet with their deranged blood thirsty genocidal madness does make this seems unlikely. End of war means end of Netanyahu. The only way this could happen is if US finally has enough and pulls the plug totally. Then again Biden being equally as deranged, I don't know how this is going to happen. So perhaps yes the resistance 🔻🔻 might be the ones to show how deserving they are, and hopefully the ones to herald Palestine into freedom and an independent state. Will continue to pray for it 🙏🤲🇵🇸🇵🇸✌️

Seymour also vented a plan in which Sinwar would render the killers of 10/7 to Israeli justice in order to save his skin. Hersh should be regarded as telling us what he hears rather than what he thinks on the subject. His pieces are markedly different when he is confiding his own thoughts. And one should be fair, this war is something out of the experience of anyone. It is something novel.

Thank you for staying with this, it's a breath of fresh air.
What do people think about this speculation: Israel is trying to create conditions where its existence is threatened enough so that the US feels compelled to intervene militarily and commit to an active, very public ground war in the Middle East, requiring the manufacture of consent domestically?
Then, they could calculate that a wider war with the US on its side would destroy Iran, Syria, Lebanon etc. and leave Israel standing, to pursue its Greater Israel territorial ambitions. (Leaving Russia and China out of the delusional dream vision, of course).
We have enough bloodthirsty neocons in Washington so that this is a distinct possibility - regardless of who occupies the Oval Office. The US foreign policy apparatus is conditioned by success at genocidal war, since the country's inception. Despite the obvious decay of its methods and materials as demonstrated in the Ukraine war, the armchair generals might still delude themselves that such a war is "winnable." Or at least, be willing to cynically convince American voters of that. The police state response to campus protests is a strong indicator of that willingness.

I would be really curious to understand the mental state of the settlers going forward. It seems there are a few camps. One that is protesting for the return of their captives, which is probably the same anti-Netanyahu camp from a few years ago. Another is the "super settlers" who are the most rabid right wing fanatics from the West Bank. And another seems to be the northern settlers which recently apparently announced that they'd like to secede and form a "State of Galilee". In the meanwhile, the zionists are sending their soldiers into the meat grinders of fighting the resistance, achieving nothing significant, then the international reputation of the zionist state is reaching irrecoverably low levels, demands for divestment growing and growing across universities around the world, etc. I really want to understand how the zionists are calculating the cost of all of this, yet somehow their equation seems to say "keep the genocide going". It's just mind boggling.

Netanyahu is beginning to look very haggard. The West is looking haggard. The military forces of the collective West, Israel included, are not built to battle peer or near-peer adversaries, they are built to maximize profits for the military-industrial complex and to operationally do colonial policing and low-level insurgencies they never win. The economic model of the West has been imposed on its military forces and as a result the US, UK, France and Germany have small, hollowed out forces with ludicrously expensive gear that doesn't work and no production capacity to replace any of it and Israel is in the worst position of all, since they must import everything.
If attritional warfare is the model that has been adopted by the Axis of Resistance, this is especially bad for Israel, since Israel for all of its vaunted defense industry, makes very little of what is actually needed to prevail in a war, at home. Congressional Zionists can make as many angry pronouncements about Hamas, or the ICC, or Iran they want, they can promise all the money they want, but at the end of the day, nothing the media says, nothing Biden says, or Israel says is going to make a bit of difference on the battlefield. You can't gaslight reality. Nothing more impotent than making threats as you sink further into defeat.

Regarding the Cold War in light of what is happening today, nothing has changed.
The US Empire still cannot invade or bomb Russia.
Contrary to the popular misconception that the West "won" the Cold War, it was a dismal failure.
History did not end; it is only just starting. Fukuyama needs to write a sequel to his infamously stupid book.

BTW: Putin is right: the world has no meaning without Russia. I have no problem applying that to Palestine as well.
