These are some of your best videos! I think you and Adam both do an excellent job at reflecting on the game and considering what BYU is doing right and where they can improve without the doom and gloom of the rest of Cougar Nation. They're 3-0 for goodness sake!
This is the first time I've been excited about the BYU offense in 3 years! I love the passing, the running ratio... looks like a BYU offense and it's exciting. I was about to give up completely until this game. I remember several multiple interceptions games from our legacy QBs... I'm all for it. I don't think I yawned once this game... and it was a 4:00 am start for me in Germany!! With the receivers we have, this is the best way forward... has been for the last 3 years too. I hope this is a change of heart for ARod and Kalani!!
I love this take. You're right, even if it's not perfect, it is super entertaining. And it looks like the offense has lots of room to grow. I understand many of the frustrations fans have with this team, but we also need to keep in mind the expectations for this season and just enjoy the success we're having.
Pointing out that Jake has a turnover problem isn’t really complaining. It’s a fact. He can make every throw he needs to, but he needs to be more careful with the ball.
They are valid complaints that we all share. Obviously, I wish Jake didn't turn the ball over. I still think he gives BYU the best chance at this point.
Apologize for complaining... What did BYU beat Wyoming by compared to ASU? THAT is a good comparison. Apples to Apples prior to Conference play. We've played ONE semi-decent opponent so far and struggled offensively. Mathematically, will those struggles be compounded against Kansas State? Watching Kansas State? They are beatable. With the Horses that BYU has? BYU should be vying to beat them. Only two things are stopping them. Putting the ball in playmakers hands. Darius Lassiter's attitude is a direct reflection of that issue. The snub in the endzone was probably inadvertent but it just played into the narrative that the ball isn't getting into our key players hands effectively and efficiently and ARod's solution is to just let Retzlaff run it. It's kind of akin to the Puka Jet Sweep Right Puka Jet Sweep Left that ARod devolved into a couple years ago which was asinine. Second issue? Coaching. Every week I keep hearing Kalani say he knows how to fix the problems. He doesn't seem to fix many of them though...
I want to see Gerry. That being said, Jake outplayed AZStates QB on the road at 7000ft. We had zero run game, we needed Jake and he delivered. Road vs home matters a LOT especially in Laramie. Don’t forget that this was a very simplified scheme (supposedly) and one of their touchdowns was against our 4th string defense. Kstate will put on the pressure, it’ll be Jake’s prove it game, especially because our run game will most likely be worse
These are fair complaints. I do think Sitake seems very slow to make adjustments. We obviously don't know what's going on behind the scenes, but it seems like he needs to be more proactive. Having said that, I do think they went into the Wyoming with a different game plan and executed it pretty well.
@@brettlarsen6111 I think staying with Jake has been the right situation, but you're right about this being his prove it game. I don't think they make the switch to GB if they're losing but Jake is playing well. But if he looks rushed and turns it over a couple times, you need to role with GB and see what he can do.
Fair criticism. The general concensus seems to be that he can save his job this year of he does well enough. But if they have their eyes on someone else who they think they can bring in, perhaps they get rid of ARod regardless.
@@saturdayswarriorbyu if ARod really watches this team, he should realize this should be a pass first offense. He wasn't trying to establish the run in the 4th quarter because he realized he didn't have the horses. He never has. Martin is good, but he doesn't make this offense feared. Now, if we pass first then let him loose, he'll be like Heimuli of old. If he goes back to establishing the run first, he needs to go. He has no business in a stadium named after Lavell Edwards.
Aside from the QB situation, what is the biggest storyline surrounding this BYU team?

Thank you! It helps when you start with low expectations 😅

Roderick needs to walk away,, BYU needs to be recruiting much better talent and he can’t do it.

He really leaned into the pass game against Wyoming, so I'm hoping he's figured it out.
