In such a case Gumboro is out of question since it only affects chicks between 3 - 6 weeks. Administer Newcastle every three months and also deworm them. Of possible vaccinate against fowl pox and fowl typhoid.
Thanks Africa farming.. I am starting Wednesday next week with 300 day old as a boost to some 14 local birds which are already at my family farm. Blessing
Thanks Pastor for watching. Will get someone who does it professionally and who will be willing to teach us then we can record how to do it. Thanks for the idea
Newcastle is a viral disease. Antibiotics don't work on the disease. However, there are maintenance activities to manage the disease in case of survival.
@@AfricaFarming they are in their 8th week now. So am giving them fowl pox today. Please my birds are having coryza which medication will you suggest to me please.
Day 1 - Vaccinate against Newcastle with Lasota Vaccine Day 7 - Vaccinate against Infectious Bursal Disease with IBN Vaccine Day 14 - Vaccinate against Newcastle with Lasota Vaccine Day 21 - Vaccinate against Gumboro with mild strain GV Vaccine
The considerations to make in broiler vaccination are the major diseases affecting them such as Newcastle Disease, infectious Bronchitis and Gumboro. So only vaccinate against these.
Gumboro has to be given within the first three weeks. After that, the vaccine becomes ineffective. It is recommended that first doses of Newcastle are also given within the first two weeks of a chicks life. However, it doesn't end there. You keep administering regularly even when they are mature
I gain a lost from your lecture, i administer lasota to my 29 day or one month old pullet , with little quantity of water , all the bird didn't drink from it , can I repeat it again the next day
Give it some time. Before you administer any vaccine through water, ensure you withdraw their water for atleast 6 hrs so that when you administer, the chances are high that they all get vaccinated.
My chicken are One month and six months old,is it advisable to administer The Newcastle vaccine to them all at once and then continue after every 3month or should I not vaccinate since they have never had since hatching...or what's your advice....thank you
One of the easiest ways to control coccidiosis is to purchase vaccinated birds. Vaccines are given at the hatchery on the day of hatch. Once the animals have developed immunity, they will be resistant to the strains of coccidia used in the vaccine they received. Plant extracts and essential oils are also promising due to their antioxidant's properties and antiparasitic actions. Turmeric (curcumin) and eugenol from cloves have an efficient anti-infective valence by targeting different periods of the Eimeria cycle and decrease oocysts excretion

This is for kienyeji chickens and can be applied to layers. Boilers follow a different schedule because of their short term stay

We have local chickens in Kenya and East Africa which we refer to as kienyeji chicken. Kienyeji means non exotic
Can I use tap water in mixing the vaccines
Yes you can as long as it is clean and fit for consumption. At the farm, i use tap water from the borehole.
Can this be used for layers
Not really. Layers follow a different schedule
Is the same with broiler chicken
Not really. Broiler chickens have their own vaccination schedules

Some vaccines are meant for certain ages. You need to check what vaccines are important at the age in which your layers are at.

How safe is it to administer 1st doses of new castle and gumboro after the chicks are older say around 1month

I have problem woth ants and vaccinations
What exact problems do you have?
Should I mix that liquid paraffin with water or give pure paraffin directly to chicken?.
Once you have liquid paraffin, you mix with water. A tiny drop of liquid paraffin can be used in water that you give to your chicks
