How to make THE BEST Pistachio Cake

- Pistachio Cake is my go-to cake recipe for parties, BBQ's and get-to-gather's.
It's a simple to make cake that delivers a little something extra.
Enjoy!
1 Yellow Box Cake Mix
1 Pistachio Instant Pudding (3.4 oz box)
4 Eggs at Room Temperature
1 C. Milk (2% or Whole Milk)
1/2 C. Vegetable Oil
1/2 t. Almond Extract
1/8 t. Green Food Coloring (optional)
Powder Sugar to garnish
Bake @350 degrees 45-55 minutes, or until toothpick comes out clean.
Once cake is cooled completely, garnish with the powder sugar.
Cake is 2x as good the next day after the flavors have settled.

I baked this pistachio bundt cake last night and babeeee it's the bomb. It's so fluffy and moist. I added crushed pistachio nuts in the cake mix and sprinkled on top...I'll be baking this again

I’ve been making this cake for over 25 years and all I do is make the boxed cake with the pistachio pudding and it is delicious. There’s no need for anything else really

Yes there is dumb dumb. Box cake mix calls for eggs milk and oil. 🙄a box of pudding will not replace four eggs

@@brendahowe1898 just make a yellow box cake and put a box of pistachio pudding in it when you’re mixing it and bake as directed on the box cake. I use a Bundt pan

*did the cake exactly, EXCEPT, used Greek plain yogurt instead of oil and vanilla ( 1 teaspoon)
instead of almond extract..
* My Frosting: 1 Tub Cool Whip
1 Box Pistachio pudding
1/2 of a cream cheese (box)
Milk to thin as desired
Mix with hand mixer til fluffy and well incorporated.

It's delicious!
You can add almond extract to almost any cake or cookies.
You can also frost your cake with a cream cheese frosting and even color it green too.
My mother used to make this for us.

Can you use almond flour?
I've never tried it with Almond flour so I can't say for certain. However if it's a box of Almond flour cake mix that should work fine.

Hi,
Instead of using box cake mix, you want to make it from scratch correct. I have not tried making the cake from scratch before. I have made it for many years and always use box cake mix plus the extras I add to the mix. Unfortunately I don't have scratch recipe to share with you. On a side note..if making the cake from scratch you can use all- purpose flour. You will also need leveling such as baking powder, plus salt and vanilla extract in addition to the almond extract. The box cake mix comes with leveling, etc so no need to add those in. As far as the ratio of flour, leveling, salt, etc it's hard to say since I have not made the recipe from scratch vs. box cake mix and I wouldn't want to tell give you the wrong ratio without first working with a recipe myself.

I have never used pistachio extract in the recipe before. However, I think it would work nicely. It would definitely boost up the pistachio flavor! I would go with 1/2 a tsp. 😉

I've never tried it in cupcake form, but yes it should work just fine in a 9x13 baking pan. (I'm thinking that's what you were referring to by flat).

Thank you for your questions, no worries.
The cake is light. Yes you can definitely add chopped pistachios (1/3 to 1/2 C depending on how much you want to put). Toss them in a about 3 Tablespoons of flour first before adding them to the batter. This will keep them from sinking to the bottom of the cake. Don't add the extra flour, just the coated pistachios.
I haven't made the cake in a loaf pan yet but the tube pan holds 12 cups. I suggest using a loaf pan that will also hold up to 12 cups, and it should work.

Made this and it was burnt at 40 minutes, don't know how you baked for 55 minutes...made a second one and it was done perfect at 35 minutes
Sorry to hear that. Ovens can vary. I give a range and note to bake until tester comes out clean. Glad it came out prefect for you at 35 minutes.
