ROMAN VIAZOVSKIY about focal dystonia (KGP)

Dear friends,
I would like to present you my new video about...
...fortitude, fight with yourself and overcoming. It’s a story about a focal dystonia that happened with a wonderful musician Roman Viazovskiy.
According to statistics, 1% of musicians have this disease. But...nobody is talk about it on public.
I just want to say, that if you have a focal dystonia - this is not a sentence. Don’t give up! Because often the problem is just in our head.
Roman Viazovskiy is an example of person who did not give up, despite the fact that the struggle lasted for many years.
We decided to record the video in native language for Roman (Russian) and than translate it in English. This allowed us to expand deeper into such a difficult topic. I express my big big gratitude to Marko Topchii for his Voiceover in English. Just hear what an incredible work he did! The original Russian version you can watch hier:

Roman Viazovskiy was born in 1974 in Donezk, Ukraine. He studied guitar with Viktor Kriwenko and Walerij Iwko and conducting with Ludmila Popowa and Vladimir Viazovskiy in Donezk. In 1995 he received a scholarship from the President of Ukraine for outstanding artistic achievements. After graduating in 1996, he began his postgraduate studies with Prof. Reinbert Evers at the Music Academy in Detmold, Munster Campus. He completed his studies at the Cologne Music Academy, Aachen Campus with Prof. Tadashi Sasaki.
Roman Viazovskiy has won prizes in numerous national and international competitions. Concert commitments have led him to almost every European country, to the Near East, the USA, South America, to Japan, China, Thailand and to the most important guitar festivals. As a soloist he has played in renowned concert halls, including the National Philharmonic of the Ukraine in Kiev, the Bunka kaikan Recital Hall in Tokyo, the Claude-Champagne Hall in Montreal and the Concertgebouw in Brugges. In March 2007 he had his debut at the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall of the Moscow Philharmonic.
Roman Viazovskiy has received many international awards and he is fellow of the GWK, Münster / Westfalia. He has taken part in numerous radio and television broadcasts in the Ukraine, Germany, Spain, Italy, Croatia, Hungary and Japan. 2001 saw the release of his debut CD, "Fatum" (Dreyer.Gaido CD 21001), in 2006 his CD "Sonatas" (CLCL102, ClassicClips) and in 2011 his album "Zeitenwanderer/Wanderer in Time" was published.
In addition to his career as a concert-soloist, Roman Viazovskiy is a passionate and highly distinguished teacher. He has taught at various institutions, master classes and was assistant to Tadashi Sasaki. His experience includes working with students of all levels, ranging from highly talented children to academy students and professional guitarists.Roman Viazovskiy has received a plethora of national and international awards:

So honest, so free from selfishness and despite such a drama so positive. I've heard him live several times and he doesn't play just differently now. I think he understood what many do not see, hear, feel. Glory, recognition, applause do not matter to him now and you can hear that in every note! Thank you for this disclosure. Very interesting approach! Probably the only one that makes sense. I always worked with my students on the lightness of the touch, especially when there was a student that really used too much force while playing. I for myself have other problems like poly artritis and was recently operated on my carpal tunnel syndrome as well. There is also the atrhritis of the thumb and a nerve that is irritated by a cervical spine problem. But overall, I'm playing again and starting all over again using the same attitude of listening to every cell of my body while playing. Only than one can perhaps find a way to play what we want to play; Thanks for posting!

Dear Ihor Kordiuk, let me begin with praise and end with criticism. This short documentary is quite beautifully done, and Roman's testimonial goes right to the heart. I was very moved and impressed, and he plays absolutely beautifully. Nonetheless, I was sorry to not be able to hear Roman's original voice behind the indeed very well spoken voice-over. I understand that it was important to focus on listening to the text and guitar only, and his original voice would have doubtlessly made the mix more acoustically "complicated", but I missed listening to him personally, although I wouldn't have understood a word. But the attempt to "voice-over" his commentary as in lip sync without being in lip sync at all just doesn't work for me. It irritates me more than anything. But this being said, you did a wonderful recording job and Roman is lovely to hear playing and the voice-over is remarkably well poised and spoken. What he says is terribly important, especially in modern times. Bravo and thank you for this enrichment.

Thank you for your kind words and also for your criticism.
To be honest, I made firstly two minutes of the video with Voiceover and quiet original Roma’s voice together, but...it sounded like a sounds-salat. I understand that the movement of lips without a sound can cause confusion, but the incredible abundance and overlapping of sounds would be very distracting and dispersed.
I know that maybe you don’t understand Russian language, but you can watch a few minutes of original Russian version, just to feel the hole atmosphere 😚
