Katonah FD Car 2212 + Engine 115 + Tanker 6 Responding

  • Katonah Fire Department Car 2212, Engine 115, and Tanker 6 responding to a residential alarm on Katonah Woods Road in Katonah, New York. Car 2212 arrived on scene and reported that there was smoke in the structure. He later updated that there was an unattended pot on the stove and units were venting smoke and checking for CO readings. Units vented the structure and reset the alarm and all Katonah units went back in service.
    The units seen responding are:
    Car 2212 - 2013 Chevrolet Tahoe
    Engine 115 - 2010 Smeal Sirius/Spartan (2000gpm/1000gal)
    Tanker 6 - 2005 Pierce Dash (2000gpm/3000gal)
    This video was taken on April 10th, 2015.

    That’s a monster tanker. Would that be able to roll as an engine (pumper) if need be? I see some hoses and what look like pump valves on the mid section. Also the crew cab is obviously larger than the typical tanker.

      It is definitely an engine-tanker by definition, we just don't use that designation around here. Theoretically, it could be used as an engine but they don't ever roll it first due so it never really fills that roll.

    Why would they send a tanker for an activated alarm??

      +hldtrm Departments around here typically keep rolling apparatus until they are told not to anymore by a unit on scene, provided they have adequate manpower. For this department, the tanker is always second due to calls outside of the hydrant district. It is very common procedure to roll tankers on any calls not within a hydrant district.
