He was spectacular but he was also so resourceful. I love the one at the end and @1:55 where he had an answer for literally every single movement his opponent made.
You'll never see as good newaza as when Canto played against Stevens. Two guys who would match all the time against each other, both loving newaza. I have never seen newaza being so even and action packed as this clip. They actually played it and both sides were making great moves.
@@saharnotsarah I would be surprised as he never showed while wearing anything related to bjj (gi, belt...) or a bjj team (patches or so...). I don't doubt he trained with bjj guys but not to the point to get belts (or perhaps an honorary one as it happens sometimes).

Hi, at the moment I'll work on some other videos, but my goal is to create the biggest list of Judo Legends videos on UA-cam and Tiago Camilo will be somewhere in that list.
I don't know, with the way things are looking I don't plan to post any videos in the near future, tough I have one idea that I'll try to do at some point.
@@fletchkeilman2205 me too, grappling is grappling whether gi or no gi and also gracies learned judo first then they modified the ground aspects of judo so there is no bjj without Judo.
@Mr.Harrold Ramanan @Fletch Keilman I have nothing against BJJ (I think it's great). It's just that in recent years I kind of lost track of what's happening in the World of BJJ. On top of that a lot of newer BJJ organizations are very strict with their copyrights, so BJJ videos have higher risk of copyright strikes. Anyway, in upcoming months I plan to make more videos about other grappling arts, so if you guys have any BJJ athlete suggestions you can leave theme here and I'll look what I can do (Preferably, someone from older generation who is a good role model and has exciting offensive style of grappling).

I respect judo and canto greatly, but some of his opponents seem to not know any defensive maneuvering to counter some of his chokes. That being said, he is pretty damn fast, so there is that.
This guy is just too good. I have heard that he used to train bjj also at Game Filho University in Rio after judo training and he would smash all the highest level bjj black belts there. We are talking world champion bjj black belts in competition training...
@@sage1522 I encountered a bjj "white belt" whom was 50 lbs heavier than me but trained judp for several years. She had that killer instinct and quickness/urgency with her submissions that isn't usually encountered in bjj training, probably because of risk of injury.
Such a master of Newaza, I feel glad to be from the same country as Canto. By the way, amazing video as always.
Thank you!
Probably the best judoka in newaza since Kimura

Yes, it's legal.
