I saw this rod on a Russian youtube channel: ua-cam.com/video/fHbXImEdzdE/v-deo.html . Please open and give the guy a like! Cost u nothing. He already has a couple videos fishing with this rod too. I mentioned him in my first version of the video, but that was 1 hour long and i had to cut A LOT to get it under 30 mins : )
Yea i been following that guy for awhile. I do like his channel.
very informative video. You lay out all the things that a buyer needs to know prior to, not after the purchase. IMO
thank you
Absolutely love your commentary. Thanks for the Review.
thank you sir, i appreciate that!
I keep coming back to watch this model… soooo tempted to pull the trigger. Kinda want to take a shot at other models too though.
u were saltwater dude, right? I think this model will see more life in saltawter. Almost everything there fights hard. And this rod was designed for saltwater on the first place
@@ifishcatfish hey no I fish big public reservoirs in North Carolina, but have saltwater fished plenty among the years. My salt water surf rod is 8’ Kage light action mini jig/spoon. I have been searching for slow taper Eradicator for months to no avail. I want another rod that has the perfect bend to tip ratio.. ags presso xul will have to do for now
Hey Victor funny this Rod reminded me of my first ultralight rod that I made myself with a 9' Fenwick Fly Rod 5wt.blank back in 1975. You would have loved the cork handle which I wrapped the reel a Mitchell 308 with 15lb. nylon monofilament then some lacquer. Don't know how many fish it caught but it was alot.Mostly 12" to 16'" Coho Bluebacks. With 2lb. test it was great fun and very tasty fair. A very good memory for me that I thought I would share.
Very cool!
Beautiful rod. Japanese craftsmanship has always impressed me. I’m also not a big fan of EVA foam on any rod. I’m weird, but I only like to use cork handles. I would like to try a carbon or hard plastic rod. They look sleek and smooth. Love that hook keeper on the Shimano.
I agree love cork much better. But what a BEAUTIFUL ROD.
if you watch my rod reviews from 3 years ago, u will hear me say i live cork the most. And for rods under $100 its probably best. But it is inappropriate for rods like this in the video. They did a lot of stupid things like micro guides, insufficiently strong connections, just to ABSOLUTELY MAXIMIZE sensitivity. Cork is soft and will ABSORB vibrations. U can't put cork if u tune the rod for sensitivity.
Beautiful rod, I will agree the Shimano Soare and Xtune rods are hard to beat. The real finesse are also awesome.
love your tackle reviews !!!!!
Thanks buddy, i appreciate that
I passed on the corto and bought another Evergreen fine sensor xul. Well, it is a solid tip, so you might not like it. I do like it so far.. It is a very fast tip since it is a hybrid or more so ajing type rod. Great informative video. Thank you
Thank you
I really wonder how this compares to ajing rods. Local shop started to carry majorcraft and I picked up the AJI rod they make. Not bad for 119
@MAX99999 I would assume it is the same. I think corto is more of a hybrid or ajing. Fast rod a bit more rigid in compare to a trout rod. I love trout rod, its fun to use.
@@captainrylenaviation29 have you used the limber tip evergreen 610 model?
@@TheUltralightLife even the word 'limber tip' is a huge turnoff for me. I want stiff tip but a limber rod : )
I really need some clarification regarding hard solid tip. Is it similar to tubular tip? Been following your channel for quite some time and appreciate your honest feedbacks.
it is exactly that - solid tip that is harder than normal. I don't know if it is quite a tubular because tubular tips can vary a lot too. Shimano has some pretty soft tubular tips for example. I think the tip is good, but they should have used a thinner blank to keep the action Regular Fast instead of Extra Fast. But i sold the rod already and the guy absolutely loves the extra fast action. I think most people love the action of this rod the way it is, i just have a preference for slower actions but i am definitely in small minority
@@ifishcatfish yes me too prefer regular fast action instead of very fast. I guess you could say it's harder than a 'standard' solid tip but not exactly like a tubular tip. The things that manufacturers make us anglers buy. Hehehhee
Another great review
I appreciate that
Good review. Thanks for posting.
Great review bud~
Have a rod builder or do it yourself, apply some guide thread on that bottom handle and then epoxy it.
Yes, but afger spending $350 …
So, not only am I into watching you fish, I am also into pens. What was your pointer pen you were using? It looks really sleek. Thanks for your videos as always.
Thats a pen that SEARS gave me for working there for 10 years. That and nothing else..
On unrelated note, i quit sears after ten years and 3 months 🤣
@ifishcatfish Haha, it's a shame that 10yrs was wasted there!
i thought i had a good time there, living the single life, but now that u made me think - yeah, it was a waste. I achieved nothing, improved nothing in my life, just playing games and going out every day. If at least i started my youtube channel earlier, when it was easier to get audience...
Also, regarding GLs action rating - from my experience their ratings apply for the action of the rod during the cast and fighting the fish.
as opposed to What? I hate comments that don't even make sense. I have to ask questions just to understand what you mean, but on the other hand i don't want to talk to people who can't write a coherent comment.
What is the vomparison between the prototype rods of corto and the normal corto? Thanx in advance.
You can open them in two browsers and set them side by side and compare. Absolutely every component is different. The handle looks kind of similar but even that is not exactly the same, and the blanks are painted similarly PRECISELY to create the confusion you are experiencing right now, and think that u can get the same thing cheaper. But u are gona buy steel guided instead of titanium torzite, regular run of the mill blank instead of the 99.9% carbon blank, and so on
Thanx alot for you Quick reaction. I bought yesterday the 23 Corto Prototype GCORPS-782ML-HS its from the year 22 but it looks crazy the rodtip is very tiny and im hyped to go with this rod on the water. Im going to use it for perch, walleye and trout. It seems to have a very good backbone. @@ifishcatfish
Do you think this rod would be a good trout rod?
yes, i actually like solid tip rods for trout. They kill some of that trashing typical for trout..
Have you seen the new 2022 Daiwa Tatula XT 642UL-ST solid tip? It also come in 682UL-ST.
this is ultralight rod for bass anglers. Very stiff body and very soft tip. If you like this kind of rod...
Great videos and talking points. Thanks.
New viewer of your channel. I need to watch all the videos to find out all the trigger words that might inadvertently get me banned from your channel. 😬😂😅
😂
You're a bit wrong with joint spigoton these rods, I have 3 GLs in M and SH class with same spigot and use them all the time - they don't show signs of wear. Probably due to blanks being baked in vacuum oven.
what specifically am i wrong on? They just machine cut the blank. It is not debatable that this connection is not as strong as the shimano or daiwa connections. On the other hand, i said explicitly in the video that i think this connection is fine, as long as you are careful.
So you kept it? Great in depth review 👍🏻
I will sell it. But want to fish it a fee more times. 🤣
@@ifishcatfish 😁👍🏻
can you recommend any drag grease for UL Reel I can buy in Japan😬 your Nasty grease is not available right now?
Just make sure its not for carbon. Carbon drag grease is horrible with felt. I will have my grease restocked by the end of the month too, when my jigs get here
@@ifishcatfish i decided to get a 23 Vanquish c2000s, the drag sound is very different than 1000, does the grease helps?
@@ifishcatfish ohhh wait, i will wait for your next video😬
I just saw the Corto UX on digitaka. How do you think it compares? Just by looking at the blank material it looks like a massive downgrade.
This is a completely different rod, only the handle is the same : ). They are trying to use the name CORTO to sell this completely different rod. Look at the fat guides and compare with the guides on my rod, which are titanium/torzite. The guides on the UX seem to be steel/sic (at best).
That said, i bet it is still a good rod, most likely well worth the 160$. If u buy it i'm sure u will like it. I just want u to know that this is a different rod completely. If u have different blank and different guides - thats a different rod, i dont care what handle u put there : )
@@ifishcatfish thanks for the info. At first I wanted to get a Vanquish for it, but then I started seeing just how downgraded/different it was compared to the Prototype. So then I was going to get the Sahara, but then switched to the Vanford for the weight difference.
Complex XR would match better. I have video of the complex xr with that rod
@@ifishcatfish the videos you have about the complex XR and it’s drag turned me away from it haha. Also i forgot to mention I went with the 6’4 model.
My video is with the Belezza Prototype and Complex XR. All Graphiteleader rods looks pretty much the same. It will give u a great idea of how it will look like.
Yes, drag is sticky and surging out of the box, but my grease will slow it down enough for your liking even without replacing the carbon with felt. Im not trying to make a sale for 5 dollars, just telling u the truth. The complex xr has a couple extra bearings and looks like a better match and if thats the rod u r pairing, i would go with complex xr and just get a paper towel and wipe the carbon drag disc completely dry and put my ANTISURGE grease on it and surging will be 80% reduced, and you will like the drag. If u want to completely fix the drag, u have to buy the felt also..
I’ve been watching a lot of your videos on the gekkabijin jig heads and was wondering if you know a place I can still buy the black color way of them I have been searching all around and can’t seem to find them anywhere
you are 3 years too late : ). One or two weeks after review these jigs are out of stock even in Japan. I see them on ebay from time to time for $20 a pack : ).
you can check my jigs, when i restock them, but they are sold out right now too. I think my jigs are pretty good too..ua-cam.com/video/YnJt5mGxYYk/v-deo.html
@@ifishcatfish That’s surprising they seem to be a great jig thanks anyway.
that's actually normal. Most of the stuff from my reviews is sold out.
how about comparing it to Evergreen the Superior?
I odn't have any evergreen rods..
Trying to order a rod but I don’t understand the language
that sux
@@ifishcatfish what pound line is that ?
Hej.Co to za kołowrotek?
This is the 2023 Vanquish
@@ifishcatfish dziękuje.Pozdrawiam z polski
dont wanna be that guy but my zenaq spirado and vanquish 2022 2000C LOOKS 10X BETTER THAND THIS
LOL my rod looks better than yours. 🤣
Never heard of Zenaq but actually look nice. Very black - i like that. I still think this rod is nicer and also matches the Vanquish nicer
@@ifishcatfishnever heard of Zenaq?!!!!
Victor, would you be interested in buying 2 St Croix Legend Elite Panfish rods?? They are 7⁰LF & 6⁹LF, both in great condition, only used a few times. They are selling for $410/each. I would sell both for $500 if you are interested??
I am not interested in deals. If i wanted any of these rods, i would have bought them already.
Still got the rods? I'd buy the 7 footer.
These rods from Russia I think they made in Japan zetrix ARTE 642SUL for $335.27 I seen them on Russia channel fishing for trout the name of tackle shop is mickey’s who carries them
they are not from Russia... they are japanese rods that Russians buy, like everyone else. Sometimes they resell them, they make videos about them, like everyone else. But they are just japanese rods
@@ifishcatfish zetrix isn't Japanese. Graphiteleader is :)
