  • Dunedin Florida made a nice impression on me. It seems to be a really good balance between small town living and yet has the convenience of being in close proximity to some excellent Florida beaches as well as some larger cities if you need them.

We have lived in Florida for 45+ years and have driven ALL over the state including Du-ne-din... we started out in Boca.. moved to Wellington where we raised our children❤... the funny thing is as you get older.. the things you loved and enjoyed at age 30-40 start to change.. hence why we currently reside just north of Clearwater(Tarpon Springs area) ... and soon to be residents of THE VILLAGES... and this will be where we live out the rest of our years lol... love being surrounded by like minded and age qualified residents lol... and trust me when I tell you that at our age.. after eating dinner and 🕺dancing 💃 for 4-5 hours we are ready to head to the house and hit the couch exhausted😂... best of luck on your journey to find the next area you call home... life is what you make of it no matter where home might be.. we wake up every day being thankful and blessed to be healthy and another beautiful day on God's green earth..
so as always enjoy your journey and thank you for taking all of us along..
Have a fantastic day and God Bless🇺🇸

Pronounced Dun-EE-din. We've lived here a long time. Too bad you weren't downtown on a Friday or Saturday night. It's hopping. A long lively strip of many restaurants, with live music everywhere. Perfect date night for young and for older, like us. And yes, parking is mostly free. To go to the beach, just drive north ten minutes to the Dunedin Causeway which leads to Honeymoon Island. One of the best beaches around. There's so much here, but ya kinda have to know where things are -- like forest bathing in Hammock Park, which is about five minutes north of downtown.

It was pretty easy to find our way around just by checking the map. We did make it to honeymoon Island the next day and Caladesi. Honestly I was fine not to be there when it was hopping still trying to avoid crowds

You visited Dunedin during off season and off course limited events due to Covid. Prices are high because demand is high.
Florida's original craft brewery, Dunedin Brewery is here along with 5 or 6 other craft breweries. In season you'll find the Toronto Blue Jays, and festivals pretty much most weekends. Art Festivals, Mardi Gras Festival and Parade, Dunedin Wines the Blues, St Patricks Day, Christmas Festival, Lighted Boat Parade, Day of the Dead Festival, Seafood Festivals, Octoberfest, Farmers Market, decorated golf cart parades, Craft Festivals, and there is more. Most of these events shut down the Main St to only pedestrians, no vehicles. The big events can and have brought thousands of people. Dunedin's beaches are Honeymoon Island and Caladesi Island and in season the bike trail is packed. Dunedin is a destination town with lots to do.

Lived here for 20 years in a row as well as a handful in the late 70’s and early 80’s. Very happy people love Dunedin but also sad at the same time. It has gotten way to overcrowded and overpriced unfortunately. Cute town but not the quiet quaint town it once was. Fun fact, Desantis graduated from Dunedin High School.

We just returned from Dunedin a couple of weeks ago. We loved the area. It was so calm and relaxing compared to Clearwater just a few miles away. We stayed at the Hampton Inn at the start of the causeway. It was reasonable and convenient to Honeymoon island. We also spent a day in Tarpon Springs and ate some good Greek food at Hellas.

Dear Mike, I'm the guy from Elgin. My great Aunt married a guy from Florida in 1910. She took us around the whole state. The Dunedin/Tarpon Springs area is real nice. Dunedin settled by the Scotch. They have a Highland Games every year and Tarpon Springs settled by Greek fisherman. They have outstanding Greek restaurants.

    • @jdhjimbo
      @jdhjimbo 3 роки тому +3

Agreed on all points, except it is Scottish. Scotch is a whiskey! I have been to the Highland games there, and a friend of my grandparents used to direct the bagpipes at Dunedin HS for awhile. My grandparents were Scottish as well, which is how they came to retire there, after working in Detroit for years. He actually worked on the Queen Mary (building it) in Glasgow - before emigrating to America in 1923.

After having lived on the east coast of Florida (Miami-Ft. Lauderdale area) for 15 years, we couldn't wait to leave that area fast enough, made the move to Dunedin 6 months ago and couldn't be happier - best move ever! What's wonderful about the area is it's part of a collection of a few towns: Dunedin, Palm Harbor, Ozona, Tarpon Springs -- each with its own unique flavor, character and charm -- with Dunedin being the most "artsy". Probably explains why it's the most pricey, but worth every penny... So other than the mis-pronunciation (as others have stated it's more like *Dune-Eden* ) your assessment of this special town was spot on! 🐬🌞🏝

Nice walking trails and good facilities. The downtown has recently been revamped . A little small town feel. Michael, I jokingly call it "Done Eating" :) Dunedin is one of those places where everybody wants to go there yet for some reason they can't quite explain why ... Dunedin seems to have some similarities to the city of Temple Terrace in Tampa. It is a little bit Artsy, and there is lots of baseball going on in there. I live just north of Dunedin in Palm Harbor, which affords newer and bigger homes. Palm Harbor tries hard to be like Dunedin but it doesn't quite make it because the various neighborhood developments in Palm Harbor employ brick fences. That makes a huge difference in the sense of community.

Thanks for another episode on your journey around Florida. Dunedin seems like another attractive place to live for those that like the vibe there. I'm learning through the help of your videos that if I were born and raised in Florida or had moved there already, I could see having the desire to live in many different parts of the state as my lifestyle or interest change. Florida seems to have so much of everything that could appeal across lifestyles year round. I imagine that may be what you are experiencing. You been in the Miami area a while now, I think 13 years, and your taste and or life style is changing. You seem to be a cool dude that likes the "quiet" less populated beach vibe with the sunsets at the moment. You like to cook at home, but you also appreciate a good night scene, even if just a walk on the boardwalk at night for example. Maybe that transitioned from the Miami party vibe. Your Lady seems to still have that vibrant experimental dance vibe. You both like music. So you probably need to be in a place that has a mixture of quiet and a live music scene with some nature. Looking forward to what comes up next in the next episode. Appreciate you bro and what you are doing. Keep the videos coming. Stay safe.

You seem to have us pegged pretty good Mr. motorcars! That’s exactly the kind of place we’re looking for. Although I am pretty lucky that where we live now in North Beach is still calm enough. I couldn’t handle living in South Beach. But yes a smaller town like this that has lots of live music and beautiful nearby beaches but it’s still quiet I think it’s probably the perfect mix for us. And it was really great to see all these different spots that exist here in Florida. I’m happy I could share it all here on the channel✌️

    I live in Dunedin -
    It’s extremely overrated-
The city administration runs Dunedin like a HOA.
(They usually bring in approximately a million dollars in fines a year !)
    Crazy crowds on the weekend,
    Everything is super expensive-
Restaurants are nothing special and super expensive !
Unbelievably overpriced homes and insurance (if you can obtain it) is close to unaffordable!
The taxes are also considerably higher than local cities.
Public Schools aren’t very good (it’s in Pinellas County)
The town is basically built on bars and drinking- which was purposefully done by the city commission- which designed it to be Key West North !
    You have been warned!
