In most establishments, especially in Karnataka, people just visit the restaurant for the hospitality, they really take good care of customers and even the food is mind-blowing. Never thought would get such good food in such a small area when I was young. But now, I only visit old establishments - because OLD IS GOLD.
Kripal, My first Thattai Idli at Bidadi was 48 years back when I went to Mysore on my honeymoon.😀 Believe it or not, weekly once one day is reserved for Thattai idli breakfast . My breakfast in US is still Idli . Dosai are reserved for dinner.!! Loved this episode and reminded me 14th June of 1972. Ps. At that time, Thattai idli was larger and we were served Gatti chutney.

In 2013, my family travelled in Karnataka through IRCTC package. On our journey from Bengaluru to Maddikere early in the morning, our Taxi driver stopped at this particular Thatte idli shop and all of us tasted hot and soft Thatte idli and vade and got mesmerized. After about an year, I was transferred to Bengalore and lived there with family. Whenever we travelled to Mysore with friends and relatives for sightseeing, we made it a point to stop here and introduce the flavour of Thatte idli to all. 👍
