    particularly really helpful when watching H&C - back to basics, as she’s just like Dylan😅

    Your content is fab! always a giggle!! Don’t worry about the the off days at competition that’s horses and true to life, especially in the 3 phases that eventing encompasses. Equally we know she’s so buzzing to be at a party she struggles to contain herself what is not to love about her she is full of character and never predictable😘 chin up and on to the next one xxx

    Many condolences on the sj. ☹️ It happens. It must be really hard not to take the feelings from the dressage forward into the sj section.
    Its so so frustrating when things go well at home and then completely the opposite at the event.
    Why did you decide not to do the xc just for fun afterwards?
    Looked like a nice course, albeit big and soft ground.
    You are still super positive, I love your attitude!! Your channel has definitely really helped me feel way more normal, as ive got a really tense horse/rocket too and things dont always* go to plan for us too (*often 😂)
    Take the positives, LOOK HOW SHE LOADED ON THE WAY HOME 😂❤

    Thanks for showing the honest picture, as that is definitely the way with horses! Great to take the positives and reflect on the learning points :-) my quote for the day today was 'you always have to pass failure on the way to success' which I feel could apply here! Onwards to the next one :D x

    Sometimes it's just not a good day unfortunately. I'm blaming my last 2 rides, which were horrible, (we were at home in our indoor arena, so no good excuses there) on the fact that it's finally Spring in Canada and my boy is FIRED UP! It snowed last week but this week the grass is growing and all 8 horses in the pasture are super excited! He has decided that all I do is try to slow him down so he's totally stopped listening to me 😕 so I booked my trainer to have a go on him and get his brain working again 😄
    My point is though, that we all have our bad times and our good times so this was a learning experience. I hope next time is a bit more rewarding but don't let it get you down ❤❤

    I'm sorry that you were so disappointed in your day. My trainer has a saying of "sometimes you get the chicken and sometimes you get the feathers." This was a feathers kind of day for you, but I think you made the right decision to not go cross country and save Laragh's jumps for another day. Keep your head up and keep pushing on! You do such a great job every day. You work hard to get your horse prepared and fit. We all have bad days and you are allowed to feel crappy. A couple thoughts, dont practice your test at home, practice the movements but not all together, shes smart and when she gets in the ring is anticipating everything. Also have you considered a different bit or bridle for both dressage and jumping. Shes in a plain sniffle to jump and just get flat and takes you for a ride. My horse hates a leverage bit, but I switched to a kineton nosevand for cross country and it made a world of difference on a horse that pulls. Or try a Waterford. There is lots of options without getting harsh equipment. Would you ever consider a calming suppliment like calming cookies, or raspberry leaves,etc to help her settle. I just know how frustrating it can be to put the work in and have it fail when it counts.

    I think that was a difficult test anyway without adding in the challenge of a fresh, excitable horse in! I disagree with you though, there were some positive bits and bits to like and you rode the best test you could have on the horse you had on the day. She’s just such a keen bean! At least you know she’s always had a great day out 🤣 better luck next time. I think you made the right decision. X

    Laragh loaded in the trailer too easily. She has better days if she starts off pranking you before leaving home. ;)

    Aww, sending you big hugs - I really appreciate you sharing your disappointment; most of my lessons on my horse alternate between being completely delighted with our progress one lesson and frustrated/annoyed/cross with myself the next when we have problems and seem to go backwards. It's so easy to think "this only happens to me," if people don't show the difficult days like you were brave enough to do. I thought you handled her tension very well, you always seem to look so balanced and elegant, even at her spooks on the way to and from the ring! Enjoy a well deserved bath and rest, I will look forward to your next vlog.

      Because she's preserving her horses legs. I have great respect for those who put their horses before themselves and if you are struggling in the control you absolutely shouldn't go XC. That's asking for trouble

    • @TKDDLJ09
      @TKDDLJ09 3 роки тому +1

      But she also has nothing to gain, so why risk her horse legs, when she is already having an off day, then the best thing is to call it a day and not risk going out on a 100 course and risk a fall or something.

    • @TKDDLJ09
      @TKDDLJ09 3 роки тому

      @@NoThankUBeQuiet We have a rule here where im from that if you have I believe 4 or more poles down in SJ, then you arent allowed out for XC. It might just be a rule in the smaller classes, like 80s and 90s, but I still think its a good rule, because its mostly happy amateurs' and new in the game people who do 80s and 90s and they want to make sure that they have control over the horse to go xc.

    • @elliefreddy9008
      @elliefreddy9008 3 роки тому

      What would be the point? It’s not like Lara needs the experience? That xc was bloody big and bold for a 100 and you could see Lucy came out of the sj with not a lot of confidence so why would she risk hurting herself and her horse just for your entertainment? Good decision, there is always another event.
