BewhY has an older brother who is an opera singer and he has an acapella group. He helps BewhY with choir and orchestra parts. I really love that. It makes me think that there is no hiphop artist in the world who is as original as BewhY :)
@@monkeymindkiller2799 LMAOOO Kendrick is obviously king and I can't really compare him to anyone, but I do love Bewhy as well for what he does (also some of his stylistic choices reminded me a lot of Kendrick at first) :))
@@mugensgeta1125 Yeah thankfully a lot of artists are unique. Kendrick and Bewhy are obviously very different, but they are spectacular in different aspects of their music, where Kendrick is more lyricism, story-telling and such (though his beats and rhythm aren't bad by any means), Bewhy is much more flow and rhythm, along with his lyricism of religion.
*"I made classical music fans listen to hip hop" - BewhY 2019* [Look Me Up interview] I really hope he finds this video! In that same interview, he even corrected his own wiki article which stated that the strongest feature of his rapping style is not his pronunciation and unique vocalization, but his design and rhyming. A true artist's mentality. BewhY Forever!
Non kpop related? Any song composed or produced or sang by a Korean is Kpop. But i know what you mean tho ahaha i feel u. Idols music have been dominating the Korean music chart because of their popularity makes ppl thought that Kpop is all about girl group boy band shit while theres gems (ballads, rnb, indie, hiphop) that place outside of the top 20 which is arguably a better song.

Bewhy is considered as the most talented rapper of his generation in Korea Such a waste that he isn't being promoted worldwide, he can absolutely become a reference in rap history
Something to add- the “chorus” part of Challan is actually the chorus part of his 2017 song “Dejavu” (with a different instrumental). BewhY often references or repurposes his previous songs and you can see within The Movie Star album. His songs “Adaptation” and “Protagonist” act as an intro and outro to the album. Unfortunately, there aren’t many good English translations out there that can give BewhY justice. But I highly suggest listening to at least “Transcend and “I Did It.” Both are very unique in style. The previous song to “I Did It” called “Won” flows into “I Did It” seamlessly. And the movie score instrumental that you heard at the end of the “Gottasadae” Music Video is actually the beginning of his song “Transcend.”
It’s so satisfying to listen to because he raps sooo perfectly. It just sounds so on point and smooth, I highly recommend listening to more of his songs for anyone interested.
i don’t know if i’ve ever seen them this speechless during a reaction as they were during gottasadae... and i’ve watched this channel for 3 years and i think i’ve watched almost every video if not every one... i can’t blame them tho i was speechless too when i saw it lol
Bewhy also has songs that make me feel elevated yet low and gritty and he's honestly very amazing. I wish you guys could continue to explore the wonderfully world of Khiphop!
Repeating myself with this, but BewhY is the Stilton cheese of rappers. Strong flavour with a lot of subtle notes. He's incredibly musical in his approach. Gottasadae feels like a mini-classical piece with different movements that incorporate a bunch of contemporary/modern elements. Seeing him in Toronto in a couple of weeks and am so. excited.

As an avid listener of American rap, BeWhy is the prodigal child of all hip-hop in my opinion. Only American rapper that comes close to his technicality isn't even Kendrick Lamar although "To Pimp a Butterfly" is undoubtedly one of the defining albums of our generation - it's J.I.D. who signed to J. Cole's Dreamville label 3 years ago, but J.I.D. hasn't released a definitive body of work that can stand up to "The Movie Star" yet, so I'm still on the fence. BeWhy's rap reminds me of when I used to sit down with an entire Prog Metal album like The Dillinger Escape Plan, and just listen all the way through for the evening like I was in a theatre. The way he uses his syllables to create a polyrhythm and his roll-over of 한글 from the end of one rhyme scheme into the next is insanely natural and allows him to seamlessly switch his rhythm while maintaining the integrity of his lyrics. I'm always sad when I hear convos of the best rappers in SK right now, and nobody mentions this dudes name. Thanks for doing a video on him.
Wow, man. Your understanding and taste of hip hop is phenomenal. Kendrick is definitely my favourite rapper and JID is in my top 5. Both of them are literal Gods of hip hop. Recently I started listening to k hip hop and after listening to some album my Spotify started playing similar songs. Queue in GOTTASADAE and immediately I went nuts hearing it the first time. That happens so rarely that immediately know its something special. And BeWhy definitely is special
The outro scoring of “GOTTASADAE” is also his intro to his song “Transcend”. It would have been cool to see the reaction to those two beside each other.
The second song "Challan" is a story telling song about his rap-life, a journey to find his true identity as a rapper. First, he talks about his start as a rapper, he was merely delivering "black music" as a rapper, like in 07:12, as he is delivering expensive food in hotel as a black man, he was only delivering raps to others, imitating american hip-hop (predominately "black music"). His role model as a rapper were all black like John Wiliams and Pharrell, so was his identity as a rapper, although being Korean. Then, he got famous through "Show Me The Money 5" a famous rap competition TV program. So in 08:00, he was brought up to the spotlight, everybody watching him and judging him. After the show is over, he was still at the spotlight like a clown (08:18), but everybody is starting to close their eyes, losing their interest in the lifeless rap of a clown, an imitating fool. As in 08:25, he starts to walk back, back to where he was before. In 08:44, he was moved out from the spotlight and he is sleeping, unconscious. The light changes from white to red. He is not at the spotlight, but still at the stage, he continues to rap. In the Red light (Chaos), while he's performing to those who still listen to him and starts to deny and criticize his values and of other rappers, in the seek of finding his own rap style. There are still those who love his music, giving him 6 (domino), the highest number. Here is the lyrics from 09:18 to 09:33 "Now, not being Korean is your praise. My denied blood, skin. This is not what I want. If being black is being the real, then don't you understand why blackening my flesh is not the answer? Now my pants do not hang under my ass. Unlike the one who tried to pretend to be black, My identity was of a Korean, Korean."
In 09:33, the light changes to Yellow, he has found his true identity, Korean. He starts to perform to those who are blinded (don't judge based on his color) and to the small crowd rather than on stage. 09:38 He has abandoned gold jewelries and hat and starts to clean up. 09:58, he is now back on the stage, but not by someone else, alone by himself. Every thing is clear to him as the whole stage is lit for the first time. He has realized that what is worthy is not being on the spotlight, being fancy nor famous. Now he has chosen to live a life that carries real values which last forever. A life of a glory, a magnificent life. Thus, the title of the song "Challan(찬란)", magnificent in Korean. There's just tons of little details in Challan that make the song so fun to listen to. The stuttering/panning effect that happens every 3 or 4 bars, the guitar note that refuses to settle down & decide its tonal center, the way the brass adds tons of little embellishments to the lines, but what blew me away the most when I first heard it was the complexity of the rapping, & more specifically, the way BeWhy approached his flow. Normally, in US hip hop, or even in Kpop, rappers tend to take a specific rhythm (like a triplet) & repeat it in as many places as possible in a bar (Eminem is a huge example of this), & when they do switch up, it's generally made out to be a big deal; often, some kind of beat change or drop accompanies it or it's a really dramatic switch up from the previous rhythm (i.e. having the first half in triplets & the second half in duple). However, BeWhy doesn't do this. He starts with a rhythmic phrase (you hear it on brilliant here), & repeats it, but where he actually places it in the bar changes constantly. Then, at about 0:26, the phrase adds an extra note while still keeping the triple feel. You think that'd be the new flow, but no; just 10 seconds later, he goes back to the triple feel, then at 1:00, when the horns start to come in, he basically doubles how often that phrase occurs within each of his bars. At 1:15, he starts emphasizing the duple instead, but at 1:20, he doesn't commit fully to that feel, emphasizing the 2, extending that into a triplet phrase & adding a final note; then he sneakily goes back to triple by timing his breaths to land on the 3 (almost out of the meter) & keeping that 1-2 emphasis he had earlier. At 1:30, things start out similarly, but he goes right through the bar line instead of doing the breath, which helps make the switch seamless. A similar technique is used at 1:48, & he keeps switching between emphasizing the 1 & 2 in four & 3-beat patterns, the 1 in an off-kilter 3-beat pattern, & the 2 in that same pattern until the bridge/chorus at the end. All of this means that his flow doesn't switch so much as it evolves; he's constantly tinkering with rhythmic phrases, slightly altering their timings & emphases so it never feels like you can say, "Ok, this is the flow he's going with.
Actually, there's a couple K-hip-hop songs where the artists do this. 30 (a supergroup containing 6 rappers from Dejavu, BeWhy's label) dropped a song called Hugo last year, where the rhythm was constantly switching between a straight 4/4 & a 3-3-2 pattern. Khundi Panda's AMA, BeWhy's Forever, & a handful of other songs do something similar. Trumrap Pt. 2 from independent rapper/producer duo Ex8er & Scary'P switches between 3/4 & 4/4, as well.
It was literally a few days ago I decided that BeWhy is my most favourite rapper because of his flow, vibe, and style. And you literally came up with a reaction video of his pieces. YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW THANKFUL AND GRATEFUL I AM.
I loved this! Seeing and hearing the musicians experience and analyze Bewhy's works in such a professional and unbiased manner was so fulfilling and interesting.
i've been looking forward to this reaction since it was added to the to-react list and yall did not disappoint!! i love bewhy and im so glad you all enjoyed him as well :D
the ones who enjoyed his music while being amazed represents me. i recently discovered him and I am truly amazed by his music I hope he gets more recognition I am in love with this album
BEWHY IS KING!!!! literally screamed when i saw a bewhy reaction huhuhu more please, especially this album 🤞 THE MOVIE STAR IS 2019's ALBUM OF THE YEAR 🤷♀️
Omg I loveee bewhy. I’ve been waiting for this reaction for months ahahah. I saw it on the reaction list and waiting. Bewhy’s rap tone is so unique and his enunciation is so goood
Bewhy always takes you on a journey. I love ALL of his music which is rare. His music is very diverse but distinctly bewhy. He also even did a collaboration with taemin called Pinocchio which I really loved. He’s one of my favourite rappers.
omg the guy's face from 1:25 I live for this guy's reaction, I love how he just fell into Bewhy's style right away love his reactions xDD 내가 다 뿌듯하네 ㅎㅎㅎㅎ
I didn't know that I needed this video that much but now that I watched it omg IT'S ALL THAT I NEED!!!!!! Definitely my fav reaction so far! Hope we can see more bewhy here in the future!
What makes the first video even more interesting is that the word '말' could be translated into both Word and Horse. The stable is where the horses live and at the same time the Messiah was born. In the video, Bewhy is surrounded by people with horse stoppers, so I guess it symbolizes the messiah of hip-hop born in the public's "말" like Jesus, who was born in the stable.
Wow, after these musician reacted to BewhY and mentioned all these things that I didn’t hear before is amazing. It just makes me appreciate BewhY so much more as a artist. ❤️
I would strongly recommend considering an album-play through. The Movie Star is such a classical-influenced piece of art, the reactions and thoughts of your musicians would be very interesting.
I keep coming back to this reaction as I learn more about musical terminology..to listen to musicians, as apposed to music fans is worlds apart. Thankyou
YES! I saw this on the react doc and I was like, oh hell yes! The Move Star album is a favorite of mine from last year! I've recommended these songs so much to different kpop reaction channels I watch, especially those that prefer more rap-based groups, but I haven't seen anyone react to them.
Thank you so much!! I've have really really wanted y'all to react to Bewhy because he uses very rich and interesting instrumentals in a lot of his songs. And all the songs on his album The Movie Star carry the same interesting mix of like rich music with rap. I think he's a genius, both music-wise and rap-wise.
It just means 'said'. But more classic version. The most similar English word is probably 'sayeth'. It also commonly used in the korean bible when Jesus speaks. So, the word '가라사대' here is used to deify.
I can't remember if I've heard his music before (maybe one), but I really like both these songs. The second, at least at first, reminded me of "old school" rap but with a modern flare.
he won show me the money season 5 and he works alone in all his music I met him from a show The call he participated in, he collaborated with crush there ailee, taeil(block b), taemin and others.
@@kpopmaine you can check it yourself the videos for those are up in mnet channel just search bewhy x crush - 0-100, bewhy x taemin - pinocchio, bewhy x ailee x taeil- duty free.
3:35 This song was connected with 'Transcendence', the other song's intro in album! And also connecting with next music video, 'Transcendence' music video you guys should listen 'Transcendence'!!!
Also, I was in Atlanta this weekend and he was performing. I didn't know until 2 hrs before he was to go on stage. I hate that I missed it. He's brilliant. He's a Korean rapper, proud to be Korean and not trying to take from others, and his videos are very reminiscent of Kubrick.
This album tbh is the best when listened in order, together- next time, try the killing verse from dingo that bewhy was in (it has a lot of the key parts of some of his song as a compilation)
an interesting thing i noticed in the challan video is that the song seems to change 3 times, and as it does the color scheme in the video changes as well? it starts with blue/more cool tones, and when the heavier bass comes in it switches to red, and then as the strings come in at the end it turns to yellow
In my opinion, the main point of Garasade and challan is meaning which is filled in the music. The composition of musical things are good too, but if you see analysis you can be impressed. Those songs are about proclaiming his own identity as christian.
man this is such a sick vid that i have never seen before. i have never thought that any classical musicians would give a try to listen so called k-hiphop tracks. and now guess what, those musicians feedbacks are literally blowing my mind. to be honest i am korean and i do like bewhy--even though i am not a real fan of hiphop--, but this video gave me another chance to view the world of music without any prejudice. Peace and love thru all music. (i might put some inappropriate expressions or word because my mother tongue is korean, but i hope you guys get what my message is it) [adding another one: dayum why the heck now i see this video. it seems it posted two freaking years ago.........]
i alllllways get shivers whenever i watch bewhys videos. I truly think he is the best of his generation. Only second MAYBE and a massive maybe to zico.
ikr the music videos are so strainer and intriguing that you would have never thought about it and it’s crazy that his songs are just as interesting. It makes your brain overheat if you have listened to his songs for the first time while watching the MV. There is also the lyrics too which i think is christiany(idk the right word) which kinda contrasts with the song and the MV bc the song sounds so dark and you usually think that songs that have some christian meaning to them are light and pure. I find his music so intriguing.

He is no less than legendary
Probably one of the most epic releases of last year.
Because he used the image of horse, the pronounce is same "WORD" and "HORSE" in Korean.
@@DeusNobiscum more like bark but yeah (tree bark, dog bark)
I'm a collegiate musician, so it's so fun to see what full-on musicians think about the music I've been thoroughly impressed by!
i rarely listen to rap/hip hop but bewhy is like on a whole other level fr his music is actual art
BewhY is legit the Best Rapper in Korea, & he is a devout Christian. Everything he touches is Fire!!!
Bewhy is a music genius ,his rap and the way he produces his song's is insane
I loved this! Seeing and hearing the musicians experience and analyze Bewhy's works in such a professional and unbiased manner was so fulfilling and interesting.

i've been looking forward to this reaction since it was added to the to-react list and yall did not disappoint!! i love bewhy and im so glad you all enjoyed him as well :D
For me, to be honest, if the horror genre exists in music, then that's what Gottasedae it's.
Yeah ironic since BeWhy was used for Sweet Home
There is a genre called “horrorcore”
the ones who enjoyed his music while being amazed represents me. i recently discovered him and I am truly amazed by his music I hope he gets more recognition I am in love with this album
BEWHY IS KING!!!! literally screamed when i saw a bewhy reaction huhuhu more please, especially this album 🤞
THE MOVIE STAR IS 2019's ALBUM OF THE YEAR 🤷♀️

Yesss
See him live! He is currently on tour (recently Atlanta and Dallas, Houston tonight) so fraking amazing! This is in my top 5 fav album of 2019. 🖤

BEEN WAITING FOR THIS FOR THE LONGEST TIME!!!! FINALLY! Thank you for showing them these masterpieces! ❤️✌🏽
Bewhy is a LEGEND, I was so surprised by CM to react to this!! Excited for this video
He's my favorite rapper ever!! I'm so happy that you guys listen to him and for your reaction! ♡
i have never clicked on anything so fast in my life I was HOPING they would react to this album
omg the guy's face from 1:25 I live for this guy's reaction, I love how he just fell into Bewhy's style right away love his reactions xDD 내가 다 뿌듯하네 ㅎㅎㅎㅎ
the transition in challan was so smooth like how does one do that
BEWHY one of the best k-rapper
I didn't know that I needed this video that much but now that I watched it omg IT'S ALL THAT I NEED!!!!!! Definitely my fav reaction so far!
Hope we can see more bewhy here in the future!
Henry and Cloud absolutely had the same level of breathless excitement I had on first hearing BeWhy!
the guy in the caption america sweater a whole mood that was literally me listening to gottasatae for the first time
Me too!
What makes the first video even more interesting is that the word '말' could be translated into both Word and Horse.
The stable is where the horses live and at the same time the Messiah was born. In the video, Bewhy is surrounded by people with horse stoppers, so I guess it symbolizes the messiah of hip-hop born in the public's "말" like Jesus, who was born in the stable.
all i can say is bewhy is a genius artist and he'll go in every inch and nooks of Earth.
omg thank you for reacting to him he's underrated internationally.
The beat at 8:50 really is one of the coolest flows I've heard in rap/hip-hop
Im so happy to see people react to this and see it like I've been dying to show it to someone :art
I saw this live and I kid you not he doesn’t stop when rapping. Like... how??
Wow, after these musician reacted to BewhY and mentioned all these things that I didn’t hear before is amazing. It just makes me appreciate BewhY so much more as a artist. ❤️
I'm so happy people are reacting to BeWhy it's just ....
MY HEART IS SO HAPPY 😭😭😭😭
비와이는 이미 월드클래스 입니다. 머지않아 빌보드에서 그의 랩을 들을수 있을 것이고, 그래미에서 상받는 모습을 볼수 있을겁니다. 비와이 가즈아
2:32 "How does he breathe?"
Well, he never breathe properly 😂
한국어 자막 개 웃기네ㅋㅋ 타악기 요소중 하나에서 접지하십시오 ㅋㅋㅋㅋ
그르부도 있음

I’ve never heard of him but oh my god his music sounds amazing
manaar منار بيواي يعد أفضل رابر في كوريا و ستايله فريد من نوعه الفلو حقه شيء ثاني و كلماته بططل بطلل
OMG!
Thank youuu I was one of the people who asked for this, I’m so happyy
I really appreciate the additional screenshots and text explanations as the reviewers comment between the vids.
His album was truly a masterpiece.
henry being almost breathless in the end is definitely me
Gottasadae=Gotta say dat in English but in Korean its actually 가라시대 which basically with Bewhy's name in front means its his era and moment.
(가라사대)
....no it's not. Lol it's 가라사대 wich doesn't mean era or generation.
It just means 'said'. But more classic version.
The most similar English word is probably 'sayeth'.
It also commonly used in the korean bible when Jesus speaks. So, the word '가라사대' here is used to deify.
HI IVE WAITED FOR THIS OMG YES YES THANK YOU 🥺
I can't remember if I've heard his music before (maybe one), but I really like both these songs. The second, at least at first, reminded me of "old school" rap but with a modern flare.
Never heard of him before and my mind is blown!!!
he won show me the money season 5 and he works alone in all his music I met him from a show The call he participated in, he collaborated with crush there ailee, taeil(block b), taemin and others.
@@danielrojaszea3952 Damn that must have been awesome to witness
@@kpopmaine you can check it yourself the videos for those are up in mnet channel just search bewhy x crush - 0-100, bewhy x taemin - pinocchio, bewhy x ailee x taeil- duty free.
Daniel rojas zea wow that’s insane! Thanks for the insight! I’ve just been binge listening to his work
3:35
This song was connected with 'Transcendence', the other song's intro in album!
And also connecting with next music video, 'Transcendence' music video
you guys should listen 'Transcendence'!!!
Omg
Thank you for your video
Without your video would totally miss this insane piece of art
Thank you for doing the reaction and bring me more BeWhy. Can not wait.
Fantastic and effective orchestra sampling and just endless rap...incredible and incredibly rare.
Henry's reaction is me everytime I listen to GOTTASADAE :D
Great concept of the video
And having these professional musicians greatly adds to it
아무리봐도 캡틴아메리카 스웨터입은분은 한 5번은 지리신거같은데.... 리액션 ㄹㅇ 쌉혜자 그자체....
Bewhy, a true legend
This album tbh is the best when listened in order, together- next time, try the killing verse from dingo that bewhy was in (it has a lot of the key parts of some of his song as a compilation)
an interesting thing i noticed in the challan video is that the song seems to change 3 times, and as it does the color scheme in the video changes as well? it starts with blue/more cool tones, and when the heavier bass comes in it switches to red, and then as the strings come in at the end it turns to yellow
o and then at the end it combines all 3 of those tones (when hes saying deja vu)
Bruh BewhY on here? The last thing I expected and am hype!
BeWhy is the shining light light of hip hop at the moment, imo he's one of the best rappers active in the k-hip-hop scene right now
It is juuust abt time, well done guys!
BeWhy's got himself a new fan, thanks to this channel.
In my opinion, the main point of Garasade and challan is meaning which is filled in the music. The composition of musical things are good too, but if you see analysis you can be impressed. Those songs are about proclaiming his own identity as christian.
It's been a while since I've listened to BeWhy. Welp, time to go back and listen to everything everyday again I guess 😂
Literally my thoughts rn!
He's literally the only foreign artist I was ever obsessed with when I can't even understand him
The whole album is FIRE and just pure art! Thank u guys for reacting.
man this is such a sick vid that i have never seen before. i have never thought that any classical musicians would give a try to listen so called k-hiphop tracks. and now guess what, those musicians feedbacks are literally blowing my mind. to be honest i am korean and i do like bewhy--even though i am not a real fan of hiphop--, but this video gave me another chance to view the world of music without any prejudice. Peace and love thru all music. (i might put some inappropriate expressions or word because my mother tongue is korean, but i hope you guys get what my message is it) [adding another one: dayum why the heck now i see this video. it seems it posted two freaking years ago.........]
The horse in gottasadae is symbolic for talking. Because the korean word 말 means both horse and talking
wait until y'all hear him live omgg i couldn't close my mouth even if i wanted to
Love this! Please show them more K Hip-Hop and R&B!
ohmydays a BewhY reaction!! two songs!!! oh my oh my i love it i love yall
1:25 the reaction tho.
Me like; ofcurz it's bewhy 🔥
Bewhy is really something. He isn't just a great rapper or producer but a true artist with real convictions.
i alllllways get shivers whenever i watch bewhys videos.
