CLIP DESCRIPTION:
While filming, Gustav (Eddie Izzard) meets Schreck (Willem Dafoe) for the first time.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
The torturous production of the classic 1922 vampire film Nosferatu is recreated in this stylized account of director F.W. Murnau and his obsession with creating realistic horror by any means necessary -- even if those means include actual bloodletting. The film begins as Murnau (John Malkovich) is ready to take his unauthorized interpretation of the Bram Stoker tale on location in Czechoslovakia. There, the director has arranged for his cast and crew to live in the same castle in which they will shoot their parts, as they all wait for their co-star, Max Schreck (Willem Dafoe) -- Murnau's choice to play Count Orlok -- to arrive. Their leader has warned them that Schreck is a student of the Stanislovsky method of performance and will not respond to them out-of-character. Nothing, however, can prepare them for the real thing: when the actor arrives, he's already in full Gothic regalia, asserting that he is indeed a vampire. Schreck makes good on his claims by terrorizing the cast and crew, attacking Murnau's original cinematographer (Wolfgang Muller) and plucking bats out of the air for midnight snacks. Director E. Elias Merhige previously made his name with his experimental theater productions and with his horrific film school thesis, Begotten.

"You must follow him into the tunnel." No I must pack up my things and quit your project.
😂😂😂😂
Such is the life of an actor my dear!!🦇🦇♥️
No! No!..You Must Suffer For Your art!🦇🦇
such an underrated movie. incredible performances all around. I love when they compliment Gustav's acting when he was legit creeped out. "yes......yes I was pretty good wasn't I....."
The original movie, Nosferatu, was scary and creepy. This was scary and creepy also. Loved it. Thanx for posting this.
and the 1979 Herzog one, that's tense as well
@@joebay6962 yes! An Atmospheric Creepy Movie! But It Has The wrong Ending! Count Orlocke Should die Because Of The Woman!🦇
Murnau: You must follow him into the tunnel
Gustov: ARE YOU CRAZY????
F*** that...I ain't following that creepy basturd..
Defoe is brilliant. But Malkovich is too. Very decent movie.
Such talent and character. The director's tone as he guides the actor, whole setting the mood for the film. It's brilliant.
I love Eddie Izzard's reaction just where the clip leaves off: "I saw his face...his face."
How many great movies can be so impactful, to where they have future movies about filming such classics? And then these modern tribute films become masterpieces themselves?
I'm an independent filmmaker and even though they're just props, I would love to own those to cameras and tipods 😍🎥🎥💓💕💞
You might find them in auctions, pawn shops or antique stores
Willem Defoe is just mesmerising in this!
He is amazing!!💙💙
John Malkovic's voice is so smooth and clear
Nosferatu is a universal classic Monster
No he’s not. Nosferatu is a German film and far creepier than the Universal monsters.
1:50 This look makes the scene.
Dafoe added a extra sucking to the vampire...i always had wanted to see this film and iT was a surprise. both Malkovich and Willem great as Lon Chaney's Murtau's protoges!
Wonder why didn't try to recreate the original shots at the actual castle, Orava Castle.
What a brilliant movie! One of my absolute favorites
L💙ve this movie!💙💙💙
Awesome movie, incredible performance by DeFoe.
Adore This Film! 🦇🦇♥️♥️♥️♥️
If vampires do not have reflection in mirrors, how cold you film them with a camera ? It doesn't make any sense.
The bit about vampires having reflections in mirrors come from the fact that mirrors used to have silver backing. A vampire would be able to see themself in a modern mirror, and a camera would be able to record them.
@@GhoultownBlues B&W film used silver nitrates to capture the image, so how could Murnau film a vampire?
@@AntonesPap an excellent point; however the silver in silver nitrate is Ag+, as opposed to the silver in a mirror, which is Ag. That electron obviously makes a difference, otherwise NeSdG would not have been made.
@@joebay6962 I really like your explanation.
Technically Nosferatu has a scene where the vampire is seen in a mirror. Plus it came up with the idea of vampires dying in sunlight
because they have a long long life lot of time i think at one point they figure how to become rich , and they don't need food :P
Why is this film not in widely distributed blu-ray?
Orlok mustn't die. He's actually still alive.
Great movie, although this particular scene was shot during the day by Murnau on the making of Nosferatu, you can even see it if you watch the film. This was due to technical problems with the cameras shooting at night.
Angus Lamont interesting
First meeting with Max Schrenk (Willem Dafoe)
Hutler, meet count orlock!
1:00 I swear I hear John Malkovich say 'Count Olaf' instead of Count Orlock.
Thumbs up if you were introduced to Count Orlok from SpongeBob
A little
Nosferatu is a Universal
Udo Kier was brilliant!!
