Finding Speed - Episode Five | MTB Documentary

Join us in Winterberg, Germany, for the IXS Dirtmasters festival, an epic showdown across multiple disciplines of mountain biking. Episode 5 of our series showcases Gravity School Race Team members Rueben, Jack, and Tom Westgate, along with a promising coaching school student, Marcus as they tackle one of Europe's most talked-about MTB races.
Tom and Rueben dominate as the fastest qualifiers in their categories, with Tom clinching victory and Rueben facing a challenging yet dramatic turn of events in the final sector of the race.
Produced by Loamlife Media, we have partnered with Gravity School Racing for the 2024 season, and this was one of our favourite events yet, especially as we debuted the new R6 MKII camera. It was exciting to work on bringing a fresh persepctive to the series, away from the usual Portugal camp format. This new format was a good chance to experiment with some new gear, fresh ideas for shots and crafting stories in a brand new way.
Behind the Scenes:
Filming at the IXS Dirtmasters presented little challenges, a really well put together event. Focussing solely on the downhill race the site was big enough to often forget the long list of other competitions and activities going on around us. We did our best to ensure that every crucial moment was beautifully framed, bringing you closer to the dirt, sweat, and gears of professional mountain biking.
A unique opportunity to capture some sooth gimbal shots of the SR Suntour Tech Booth was a great way to keep the inspiration ticking over and mix up the weekend yet again.
Keep an eye out for Episode 6 where Jack aims to wrap up the Portuguese National Series top of the list whilst Rue continues to search for those points needed for Loudenville.
