Hello. Thank you so very much for this video. I have watched it often and it has really helped me to play the basics. You made it very simple and you put it in a way that I could understand. So thank you again and keep posting videos. I have a lot to learn....
Thanks! I have tried several baquetas but nevertheless, the harder I strum, the more it slides back. I have to really hold it tight (which doesnt allow me to "slap" the arame and the volume in turn is low), for me to hold it firmly in position. If I hold it firmly and hit the arame using the wrist only, then the volume will be low but the baqueta stays in place. If I loosely hold the baqueta and hit the arame with the fingers, the volume is great but the baqueta slides off.
Finally! Someone's posted a video that really explains how to play, not just a video of them playing. This and you, are the greatest! Question though, why the string on the end of the baqueta? Is that so it doesn't slid out of your fingers? I sometimes have that problem. Peace.
hello rapharigoti thanks for the lessons the most simple on youtube or anywhere as a matter of fact amazing thanks a mill looking forward for more torques and variations
I have a problem with my Baqueta... It keeps sliding off my hand, I cant seem to hold it still. If I press to firmly, it will not be free and will sound low, if its too loose, it will slide off instantly.. If I hold it normally, after 30 seconds of playing it will have fallen out of my hand. How do you maintain it in the same position while keeping a loose grip on it?
I'm practicing with the one from my academy, but I feel so umcomfortable playing it and can't play it standing and holding it with one hand. I have to be supporting it on a chair or something, could it be that it is too big for my hand to hold it properly? is there such thing as the right size berimbau? thanks for the vid
Thanks for the video! I play Capoeira in a group of kids from 6 to 13 (I am 13) and my trainer said if I learn to play the Berimbao, he'll give me a bigger one (as I have) for free. With your video, I could understand how to play the basic rythms. Maybe with your help, I can get the bigger one! Thank you very very much for the easy berimbao lesson.
***** thanks👍 I got the coin (I don't know the name of it) for free yet. My trainer said: "oh wow, you've learned a lot. When I get sticks for new berimbaus, then you'll get a bigger one! What was the next step on your coin? The logo of the group?" and I said: "I don't know it anymore..." then he gave me the coin and said: "Look! That's for you. Because you can play the 3 rhythms."
That's right! The baqueta has to be slack to make a nice and strong sound. An other tip is to practice with out stryking the "arame". Just try to shake it so you can find the balanced position. Good luck
Desculpa não resopnder antes, mas é porque não tinha visto :). Sou músico brasileiro que mora na Dinamarca :) E ando aprendendo o berimbau, inspirado por Naná Vasconcelos, conterrâneo meu! abraços
Hy Minkay! The secret is the baqueta´s size and weight! You have to hold it in a balanced position, If the part that is left for striking the string is to short you should make a bigger baqueta. And it´s allways a good idea to make it thicker in the back so it´s heavier as well. In this way you´ll have a bigger part for striking. Ok?
You are a master... But Candeias doesnt use that São Bento Grande de Angola, wich is the last one you used... I will still practice just to improve my skills, thanks alot!
i can't help it to reply you since just a few week ago my c.mestre told us in the class that playing one hour per day everyday, in 6 month you'll be able to play at least 4 torques
Congratz, good video ^^ Just keep trying. I have only 2 things to say... 1 - Banguela = São bento pequeno. Banguela is Banguela, we have São Bento Grande de Angola and São Bento Grande da Regional. São Bento Pequeno is an capoeira angola rhythm. 2 - One more time, congratz ^^ Axé
that is not regional. that is sao bento grande de angola. regional goes like this-two buzz sounds, two free string hits and one whit a stone hard against a wire
berimba+bow berimba(=the type of tree it afro-brazilian made of..)+bow(=the sound it make) haha but i have to agree with you, but the traditionally made has more historiclly sprit in it in my opinion, and about your video i love it! but i use a stone :p
i am sorry but the toques are wrong. Sao Bento Grande da regional is like this : dom dom Tim tsh tsh dom tsh tsh Tim benguela is like this : tsh tsh dom Tim Tim Sao Bento Grande de Angola is like this: tsh tsh tim dom dom Angola is like this: tsh tsh dom Tim ....
