Here’s the thing about genealogy and ancestry though- back in the day people stole peoples kids in villages or even just adopted kids with no records. Women also had frequent affairs and never talked about it so no one knew and never got dna tests. We really don’t know where we came from. For instance I could trace back 2 generations of my biological family but then what about a situation like being switched at birth how do I know that my great great grandmother wasn’t accidentally switched at birth in the hospital???? Almost no one is "pure". The KKK was a pointless thing and still is.
Europeans did not "construct this idea." It has been in practice for thousands of years, Europeans simply are associated with the WORD "racism" in more recent times. You are likely "racist" yourself if you think Europeans "invented" racism.
Also, not even fully the same people. Modern humans are a mix of homosapiens sapiens and other extinct hominids. East Asians have the most neanderthal, and sub saharans have a large percentage of genes from a so far unconfirmed extinct hominid.
If you are a Christian, then remember even YHWH opposed mixing 😄

Hey dude you might want to look into this more. According to "Njinga of Angola: Africa’s Warrior Queen" by Linda Heywood, (as well as my 3000 level African history class last fall) Njinga's only son was killed by her brother, so that he would not be a threat to the throne. The brother then had all of his sisters sterilized, and according to that book Njinga never had another child. In fact she later murdered her nephew(I believe it was a nephew, I could be wrong) who had been taken captive in an act of revenge. (All according to the book I mentioned. I do not have it on hand at the moment so I might be slightly off, but I know for a fact that it said Njinga had no survivng children. And thus she could not have any great-great-however many greats-grandchildren.)
The only mention I can find of Njinga having any children is the website it would seem that you got this information from. I would recommend you try and find another source to double check the website's claims.
Good catch! Kinda crazy more people haven't called him out on this reasonably well known history//wikipedia.
Finally! Someone who has said something.
Thank you!!! The story is completely false
It did mention possible twins, so perhaps one escaped
“At some point in the early seventeenth century, about the year 1617, King Kiluanji was replaced by his son, Mbandi, Nzinga's half brother.
The circumstances surrounding this event aren't clear--many online sources suggest the king was deposed by his "illegitimate son," adding that Mbandi killed Nzinga's son (or the queen's son, it's not clear). Others claim that Nzinga and her husband fled after her father was deposed, others that they remained behind after Ngola Kihuanji was replaced by his son, still others that the king was not deposed but, more simply, died, to be followed on the throne by his son.
According to Hettie V. Williams's entry on Nzinga in the Encyclopedia of African American History, because of King Kiluanji Kia's resistance to supplying them with slaves, the Portuguese enlisted the aid of neighboring Imbangala warriors to attack him, thus "bringing the kingdom to its knees." After Mbandi's succession, Nzinga and her husband, fearing for their safety, left the kingdom. (Williams indicates that the child Mbandi killed was Nzinga's son.)
Whatever the circumstances of Mbandi's rise, the first solid detail about Nzinga's political life is dated to 1622, when she served as her brother's emissary to the Portuguese governor, João Correia de Sousa, in Luanda.”
This is according to one historian, which by all accounts is a valid position. I also don’t dispute your knowledge about Angola, a beautiful country, Im not Angolan myself and people from there obviously know a great deal more about their history. However, it also happens with historical facts centuries ago, in 1500s or 1600s, that things aren’t as clear cut and it depends on historian’s interpretation. When I studied history in university at least it was like that, we learnt how much can be missed in accounts by historians, particularly historians who were on the European side of colonialism and thus could omit facts or be forced to by the political regime they lived under.
It seems you are mostly right, some historical scholar papers point in the direction of Nzinga Queen having one son who was murdered very young by her half brother also named Mbandi, when the latter took his father’s throne. But there is also the possibility that what the person referencing to in the video is mostly true as well, since genetic testing has become so sophisticated and advanced that we can trace with relatively good accuracy certain ancestry lines… specially if that ancestry has a lot of documentation around it, left papers, journals that were preserved, or are a notable family in a country’s history back centuries ago.
I don’t know if he used genetic testing or if he simply went through “genealogical studies” as we referred it two, mostly work done by historians and some archeologists whenever they found something noteworthy to document, and then it ended up online being easily accessible to anyone. Either way, it is very possible that you are both right: he may be a descendent of another “Nzinga”, since many of those named Nzinga were actually honores by that name for being in the Queen’s close inner circle, being loyal and appointed to strategic political positions. So he wouldn’t be directly related to Nzinga Mbandi, but he may very well be from direct genealogical lineage of one of the Queen’s closest allies.
One that stands out is Nzinga a Mona, an Imbrangala warrior who was a member of her court. She was one of the rulers of Matamba following Nzinga Mbandi’s death, and fought for rule of Matamba with Mbandi’s sister, Barbara. Nzinga a Mona did have children, so it could be her lineage that the video should be referring to.
It could also be that when Nzinga Mbandi fled to Portugal after her brother threatened her, that she took her son with her secretly and sold him off to a Portuguese family. Beforehand she had her child switched with a random child in her brother’s kingdom in order to let his brother believe he killed her son. She couldn’t bring her son back to the kingdom since he would get recognized, so she sold him off to some Portuguese people or house. It’s a stretch and it’s probably not what happened, but it may have been true, we never know, since history is rife with that sort of intricate details and royal family shenanigans that evade historian’s knowledge for centuries and centuries. There was another notable historical case of a slave-turned-noble, I think it was in Britain in the 16th or 17th century, and she lived in the noble courts and became accepted by part of the society at that time… she had children also, with a white man, but for the longest time historians dismissed that fact as mere hearsay, until some people today starting looking at genealogical records and discovered new evidence, journals, papers, etc.
So all in all, he very probably does have some form of Angolan (or former Ngondgo and Matamba) heritage. It is rare for a family name to randomly mutate in a way to have nothing to do with a site where that family is known to be present since centuries ago, it came from there originally. As for being direct descendance of Nzinga Mbandi… we can’t tell for sure. You’d need to ask him if he did any genetic testing for a genealogical ancestry website, ask of the precise family branch we are looking at, examine the records, the evidence and make a guess as to whether you believe his story might indicate a descendant truly got out to Portugal and lived as a free man and married with an European woman… or whether he is making a mistake and his lineage comes from another Nzinga “clan” member not related by blood to the Queen, but close enough in familiarity to have adopted the name.

I found out I have 4%, so far, African in me as well. But….my 10th great grandfather was a slave in Jamestown from Africa who ended up being freed, given land and married my white 10th great grandmother. And here I am🙂 It’s amazing that we can now find out so much of our own roots to see how our ancestors lived and how they moved.
Wait, wait, wait. Isn't she that one famous queen who sat on one of her servants in a meeting with Portuguese messengers(they didn't want to give her a seat to show their "superiority")???
The stories we find in our ancestry if we just freaking look are fascinating.
So much human drama.
For sure, I'm from South America. My great-grandfather was born in a Native Amerindian village and was adopted by outsiders because he was ill. I don't know much information about him, though.
"So my *G G G G G G G* grandma"
You have 2 extra gs
His ancestors switched teams 💀
Your ancestry is yours, good thing you found out and something wanted you to, so follow it. I am happy for you bro, Africa has a lot more to explore than the world thinks
just when we thought your family couldn't get any more interesting 😂
So, you’re my brother from an other Mother. Lesson learned know your history.
Ps. I love your relationship with your mom. You’re a great son💕
Exactly, Africa is the Mother Land, all life began there. It blows my mind that ppl today still judge, and hate darker skin tones. I'm think to myself...you need to brush up on ya history cuz somewhere in your ancestry there are darker skinned ppl. So it's silly to me how full of hate some "whites" can be against POC. I just can't wrap my head around it all.
The kkk part reminded me of something some of my relatives did
They went to both kkk and black panther meetings
I question my family’s sanity
Maybe they went to both as a spy for one of the sides... the question is, which side were they really on 🤔
Go on...howd that turn out
If confederate flag whites and black panther blacks united it would be over for America
I am noisy tell me more hhh
They probably just wanted to hear what both sides had to say
😂😂😂I'm laughing so hard you rocked this one Pete !
My korean cousin is the one who's supposed to inherite the throne from my uncle if there was still royalty in korea. So im part of korean royalty as a half korean half american!
Are there Korean pretenders?
He has a very unique nose and it’s literally the same nose as the queen that’s soo cool I wish I knew my ancestors story like this
No
Me too
That’s funny bc I saw the same thing lol The noses
I had to go back and look. 😱 it's the exact same!!!!
He does! 😱
That’s rad! A lot of Italian folks have pretty close lineage to Africa. I gotta get mine done, we’d had some family lineage done years ago before DNA and all that, so we couldn’t get too far back.

I’m Sicilian (Eastern side of the island to be specific) and my last name, while spelled a little different than the Arabic spelling is very easy to see it is descended from Arabic for Simitar (Scimitar) or Sword of Allah - (my last name is Scime) so yeah ….my family has North African blood and likely other bloodlines because of Sicily’s status as a crossroads to trade and one of the most prominent places to anchor in the Mediterranean during travel for war and for commerce. I don’t know much else about my family besides that and the fact that they came to New York via Ellis island in the late 19th century and forged a life here in America. Most of them to this day live in either Buffalo, ny or Brooklyn - I’m the black sheep because I moved to San Francisco and then Los Angeles about 15 and 10 years ago give or take….
That’s crazy that your descended from African Royalty and also have family that only a few generations later jointed the KKK. It’s the kind of thing that lends itself to comedy I think but most attempts to divide people by race are erroneous at best and usually just laughable with genes being so much more complex - we have no excuse now that we know that what something seems and the reality are often far from one and the same and that dna, genetics and gene expression are concepts we understand in great depth thanks to science…. Go progress!
Awesome post thanks for this!
That's because Italy over the centuries had a lot of contacts with the various peoples inhabiting North Africa, who in turn had frequent contacts with sub saharian black africans. In general, in the whole Mediterranean region everyone is quite mixed up, as we've been conquering, marrying and trading with each other for the past few millennia. Putting Mediterranean peoples into neatly divided genetic categories makes zero sense, and as an Italian I'm deeply baffled by the Americans who label some Mediterranean peoples as POC and others as white.
As an Angolan im so glad that there is another descendant of angola to represent 🇦🇴🇦🇴🇦🇴
That is pretty cool! I look white as white can be but have a lot of native ancestors….. even African American. I also have ties to royalty in England and Thomas E. Ricks, the Mormon…. Lol!! My ancestors are from allllll around and from many races. As are most of us.
This day in age, everyone is mixed races. Our percentages aren’t 💯 of anything anymore. So we should all just embrace each other and stop focusing on our race. We’re mixed and a part of each other. We are the human race.
My BFF is black and she lives with her grandparents..
But her grandmother is white and her grandparents were part of the KKK. When her Grandmother married her Grandfather, her grandmother's grandparents gave her black Grandfather something very old as an apology. I forgot what it was but that totally shocked me
As an orphan you have no idea how much I want to know about my family and my ancestors too.
You can find out some very helpful information by doing a DNA test. I actually found a 1/2 brother through 23 and me.
You don’t wanna trust me
My dad was adopted and didn't know who his biological parents were or even that we was adopted until he was 14 by accident (stumbled upon the papers in a drawer for important documents when he was trying to look for his school report card) all his records are sealed until 2029, we did 23 and me along with ancestry DNA and found his birth mom and half brother, its really quite amazing, def would suggest, it also let's you know if there are any diseases in the family that are of concern
As someone else suggested, it’s highly advisable to do a DNA test. AncestryDNA has the largest user base, meaning it is also one of the most accurate. You’ll be matched with people you share DNA with, and it will tell you how close of a relation they are predicted to be. In addition, its community feature is very helpful.

Fun facts: my mother's last name is NZINGA, from her late father. Indeed, as gabonese (from Gabon 🇬🇦) some have origins in Congo, others in Cameroon, others in Equatorial Guinea because of the borders!! Oh my goodness, the world is so small 😃

So interesting......can't get enough of this guys shorts. He is so entertaining and family is so sweet.
I'm Angolan and yes, our Queen was pretty cool earlier in her life. But let's not forget that after she discovered capitalism and that she could buy good quality stuff from other countries, she started selling her own people as slaves in America in exchange for gold and other riches. In fact, at one point she was the biggest exporter of Angolan slaves
That’s not capitalism dummy
Good way to get rid of annoying husband's though.
🤯
How is that capitalism
Pretty much. Also queen Nzinga's story is most likely one of collusion with the dutch to get power over Angola.
I remember reading about her in high school. She is a LEGEND!!!
What an awesome story!!!! Love it!
At the end I think you meant descendants but still incredibly fascinating ☺️
