Creation of new materials from mushrooms to promote bioeconomy

We have developed a new method to extract mycelial fibers from mushroom conidia. This has enabled us to create a new high-value-added material from unused biomass that has been disposed of until now. This new material differs from the previously reported mycelium-derived materials in that it retains the mycelial structure. This new material exhibits excellent deformability and can be applied to a wide range of products, for example, cosmetics and edible materials for 3D printers.
