  • Today our family celebrated the life and impact of one of the best men we ever knew. Richard O. Christiansen was a capable and competent professional, but an even better husband and father. May this video serve as a small tribute, by his family, to honor his memory.

This was such a beautiful service and tribute for Mr Christiansen. I enjoyed hearing the stories of his life through his children. I am sure Melanie was so embarrassed when he went out to speak to the boy but her dad wanted his daughter treated right! THAT is a great father. I have to comment on the singing...WOW a whole family of people with beautiful voices! Every one of you sounded amazing. "Eternity is the wrong thing to be wrong about" is such a great (and true) quote. Thank you for sharing this with all of us, Greg. Many hugs to you and Melanie. ❤

Casey, what a sweet and generous comment! It was a beautiful and sacred day. Our children hold our legacy to the next generation. Melanie was mortified when her Dad went out to speak to the young man, lol. He watched out for his girls. We only get one shot at life, and Dad (Richard) did it right. He was such an honorable man. One of the pillars in my life. Melanie is cut from the same quarry. It is a musical family, with lots of capable performers. You're so kind to watch that whole thing. I wanted to create a highlight reel, so the kids and grandkids would have access to their grandfather in the years to come. I agree, that was such a thought provoking comment, "Eternity is the wrong thing to be wrong about". Thanks again Casey, it's an honor to share the YT airwaves with such a classy person! ❤

I concur with Jim Karch, I wanted to set aside some time to watch this. How moving. How touching. I felt as if I were there and that I too had been life long friends with Mr. Christiansen. The accomplishments of this gentleman are remarkable, and the family that he left will be his legacy. This was simply......beautiful. I send my very best to your entire family. The golf story was simply epic!! 💙💛

Thank you Darin! I loved your thoughtful comments! You mentioned that while watching the video, you felt like you'd been life long friends with Richard. That got me thinking how interesting life is, in the fact that time and distance separate people across the world. Perhaps the eternities will provide the solution, so that we'll be able to get to know, and feel the kinship of our great earthly family, who've lived throughout the eons of time. You're so right, our legacy is our family. Both ancestors and posterity. Happy day, my friend! :)

Thank you Robin! It was a beautiful day. Appreciate the singing compliments! Melanie and I met in a university vocal performing group. It's a musical family. I'm grateful that life doesn't end with death. How you're well! :)

Thanks Jason! Didn't mean to commit the group to attend a funeral, lol. I wanted to get it posted so the family would have access to it. You're kind to have watched! :)

WOW Greg! I waited to watch this so I could see every second. So many things to say about this amazing man! The rank of Major General and such a loving father and friend to many. Not a golfer though, LOL (I am the same)! The family resemblance is so cool through all the kids. All the stories and the songs along with that military service and bagpipes was just perfect. Revisiting that beautiful cemetery close to a year after you made a video of it. Not afraid to admit the tears were flowing here for most of the video. Very touching! A remarkable video of a remarkable family! Memories are the enduring thing.... well said and well done my friend! Hugs to all of you.

Jim, wow, thank you so much! I'm often reminded what a wonderful gift you have to lift others through the thoughtfulness of your words. I was touched by your comments! Richard was an impressive man, mentor, and friend. His professional life was the Dean of Scheduling at the University of Utah, and worked with the student athletes, making sure they were compliant with grades. He was so quiet, that you'd hardly know he was present, but a keen listener and observer. He was always involved in multiple projects, like with our flower-bed. He was a wonderful family patriarch. You were so kind to watch. I wanted to post that video so the family would have access to those details. The day was a beautiful, sacred experience. Thanks again, my friend! :)
