I find the 2.5 to be the best size to handle both the early smaller 1/2 inch counters up to 5/8 and up to an inch. Most modern counters that are an inch are pre-rounded these days anyway I find.

Glue a die on the inside of one of the handles (16mm I think) this keeps you from squeezing beyond what is needed to trim the counter. There is a video about lubricating this and I found it works better after that.

Clipping the older AH/SPI games is more challenging than clipping today's games because the die cutting back then often left counters that didn't have perfect 90 degree angles on on all four corners. You can see the result of that on the top left corner of the counter in this example however the "Deluxe" model (shown here) seems to do better with those than the original all metal models yet (as noted), the plastic models have an issue where they will snap if under heavy stress. That can be repaired (search UA-cam) and prevented (the gluing of a die to the handle as noted is an example).

    Unfortunately, they break very easily.

Yep. Had that model and it lasted about 10 hous usage before falling apart. Some may be fine, but the quality doesn't seem to be reliable.
