      Congrats!
      I've had the 1979 Adam Jones Epiphone since it released In February. I actually sold my Veil of Bees for it. It's been my favorite guitar so far. I have a 2016 Gibson Les Paul Traditional (that year's Standard) and I prefer my Epi over it. In fact, I want to sell my Gibson Les Paul Standard and put that cash towards a Gibson Les Paul Custom now that I've got the taste of the custom . If you like Les Pauls, I think you'll love the Adam Jones Epi. I feel like I can't go back to any other version of a Les Paul anymore (Standard, Classic, Studio, etc). lol
      I'm a big Tool fan but even if I wasn't it's an excellent guitar. I love looking over at the open book Gibson headstock haha

    What the quality of this new Epiphone is compared to the Gibson Les Paul Studio? Or maybe against the previous Epiphone Les Paul Custom?
    Cheers!

      I have a Gibson SG custom. I also have the 2023 Epiohone LP Custom and SG custom. I also have a Gibson LP Supreme. In the past I've owned SG standards (closet thing I've played to a studio). The biggest difference between Epiphones and Gibsons from what I can tell is the fretwork. Many Gibsons are Plek'd and that makes a huge difference. I don't know if my SG standards were, but they played very well. My Epiphones play fine, but I can notice a difference with the Gibsons. It's not a huge difference. It's not a deal breaker, but you can tell. Differences between the Epiphones is negligible. It really comes down to which do you prefer? The electronics and different pickups and the addition of real mother of pearl doesn't make it that much more special. I just like the way it looks.

      @@guitarjunkdrawer Thanks for your explanation - I'm also attracted to the looks of it, but I'm not sure whether it's worth the money - I've owned Gibsons from Les Paul Tribute to Les Paul Studio and also the Classic which all play and look great!
      Pickup-wise Studios and Epi Custom have the same pickups, but probably will need to go and test one by myself

      I bought a les paul studio in 2009 in ebony with gold hw.. It had exactly the same pickups as the new epiphone custom.. 498T/490R set... I liked the studio but never felt at home with the lack of body binding and the play feel of the fretboard... I bought the new epiphone les paul custom this week and it is truly an amazing guitar.. I bought it for 1089 at Coda Music, all fully set up and with new daddario strings fitted.. In my opinion it is better value for money than the gibson studio and the tribute. The pickups, the build quality, the playability, and the looks alone are all amazing, especially at the price level...and with a super lush hard case.. The studio became a guitar that I did not reach for as I never found it to have that appeal... The new Epiphone custom in ebony is definitely a guitar that I will play on a regular basis... It is right up there in the right ball park, but without the 6k price tag and the nitro finish that the gibson customs have.. It is perfect for the working musician and a luxury for the bedroom rock stars... Oh.. and that ebony fretboard is like velvet to the finger tips, a super comfortable playing experience.....I am very very happy with my 2024 epiphone les paul custom in ebony finish. You get alot for your money here if you look at the specs against a gibson and then compare the price tag... The less expensive gibson tributes and studios are ok but they are exactly what the name says.. Either a tribute to an iconic guitar but without the stunning looks and finishing or a Studio guitar that does not need to have the sharp looks or body/neck binding because it is designed with studio use in mind rather than the stage.

      @pauljohnson3686 nice! I like the studios too but I get it. A true custom made by epiphone is something many have been waiting for! Rock on 🤘

      @@pauljohnson3686 So true. I love my IGC LP Custom in Alpine White. Just simply stunning. I also have 2 other Epiphone LP Custom - 2012 MIK Black Beauty and 2012 Ace Frehley Budokan Cherry Burst. They all play really good.

    Does this have the slim tapered neck

    • @guitarjunkdrawer
      @guitarjunkdrawer  Місяць тому

      That's what the specs say. Feels a wee bit thicker than my 2023 one with the kalamazoo headstock but thinner than my SGs. All are about the same, too similar to really notice much of a difference.

      No, the $799 version has the slim taper, this one has the 50s medium C neck.

    why does every epiphone has such bad intonaitons? Everytime someone bends on a epiphone it sounds weak and off the tone...
