This little toy hot air engine was made by the Ernst Plank Co. in Germany around 1895. It only required cleaning up and lubrication before coming to life again.
My great grand parents had something like this in their basement that ran a pump to get water to the cistern in the attic. It was much larger though. Looking back, it’s pretty eye opening how dangerous Victorian homes were.
The one in the video is a toy of course, but the "real" full-sized engines were used mostly as you describe. But they were no more dangerous than a coal furnace. Here's one that was used to pump water in a house in New Jersey: ua-cam.com/video/QBQi-ThEUBg/v-deo.html
@@ojsefg the only thing that I can see would be super dangerous would be getting your hand or arm caught in the flywheel. Depending on speed you could get seriously injured or have a broken or severed limb.
You obviously haven't played with these toys--it's well within the original tolerances and will definitely not be "repaired". They were never meant to run as scale models with fine tolerances and precision.

@@riderericsson thank you for that! It sure looks similar. Brought back great memories. Thanks again!

A piece of art - still running as it did more than a century ago! 👏🏻
What a beautiful example!
Another Beautiful Restoration !
Fortunately this one required no restoration.
¡HERMOSÍSIMA PIEZA!😊❤
Wow! Cranks over on the first try!
There's actually a short pause of the video camera between when the lamp was lit and the flywheel turned--takes about a minute to warm up.
Very nice. Thanks for showing it.
That is rather sublime.

Lovely 😊
Сколько может стоить такой двигатель?
I thought you meant it has never stopped for 125 years
Yes, I lit the burner in 1895.
@@riderericsson wha
Yeah, I remember reading about that on the newspaper back then
So it's a Stirling Engine. Invented in 1816.
Nice thing. But there is a lot of play and rattling in this toy. It should be definitely repaired.

What is the price of it?
It's not for sale.
But what’s it’s purpose
It was just a child's toy. The same company also made toy tools, workmen, and other accessories that could be powered by it.
