- Hopefully this full build video gives an idea of what was involved in the project. In total we used less than 2 sheets of MDF plus the skirting and fixings. Hopefully it gives you an idea of a simple way to upgrade your walls and halls.

Dude, this is awesome. I'm totally gonna follow you all and start on my hallway. I just got divorced and I'm a disabled war veteran and I'm alone a lot. I'm gonna start this because of how well you explained and showed how to do this. I'll email you before and after pics, buddy. Thank you.
Hope its going well for you buddy
Loving Bill Burr's new home improvement channel! Keep it up!
The way you can make even something "simple" look so incredible just shows how awesome you are. I love it when the family get a chance to help you out too!
love the interaction with the kids, and them helping Daddy.
For any basic woodworking a pin nailer is an amazing little tool, super useful for quickly joining things while glue dries.
What if walls are made of out bricks ?
Cracking job Tim! Looks really effective... would love to do this up my staircase on the wall side but the idea is already giving me a headache because of all the angles and the fact my staircase has two turns in haha! I may get to it one day! So busy sorting other houses rather than my own. Glad to see everyone is well and chipping in! Take care all! Marc!
Great job and love to see the family getting stuck in too. Important to pass your knowledge on! 👍👍
Lovely job that, Tim. First time watching your vids and doing my research as the wife has mentioned panelling for our house (1910's)
2nd fix nailers are a game changer aren't they.
Great video Tim. No nonsense, straight forward. What's not to love?
Practical and design- able 110% 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻❤️❤️❤️ great team of painters too with a little fashion show to entertain as you work 🥰🙋🏻♀️🇬🇧💕jane
The kids as always are way too cute! By the way great job Tim! I need to do this, you made it look do able! Thanks
I love my Ryobi tools , I have from the brushless chain saw to the sander all 18 volt
Using a festool track saw with an evolution track is my kind of guy 😂
Excellent tutorial !!!! You made it look very easy love panelling !!!!!👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Love the new backing music your using reminds me of woby designs
Great job on the paneling love the Chanel 🙌🏻
Looks really well done 👏. Thanks for the detailed video
If you put the adhesive on as a perimeter about 3 inches in from the edge then make lines across and long ways you will make a grid that will create a suction in all of the squares that will hold the sheet on far more securely than random squiggles
Lovely God Bless your helping hands
Absolutely superb job. Looks fantastic..
Hi. I'm doing a hall with panel like yours. Can't believe how much it's going to save going DIY. Thanks for all the videos, you're a great help. Adrian
Love that you’re using the workshop, even though there’s no walls or roof yet
Just about the only space clear enough at the moment! 😁
Cool I always do my finish carpentry in rigger boots too lol 🔥🔫
@@fireblaster9961 😂
Great video Tim, inspiring stuff and brilliant results, I like the sound of the new spray gun but I think my wife would kill me if I bought more new tools 👍
This looks incredible, just about to panel the hallway and this has helped massively so thank you 😊
Fabulous Tim. Just about to embark on my first paneling project. Many thanks
Just the show and tell I was looking for. Great idea. Time to get my toolsout
Well DONE OLD CHAP. A REAL TRADESMAN. 💪
I did mine almost exactly the same except I didn't start with backing board. Once I had panel areas I found it easy to fill and sand them and line them with lining paper. Not saying it is easier but I am an amateur and it worked for me.
Have to say it was riveting Tim, a new project for me 😎
Awesome attention to detail. You do produce a lovely finish. It's what makes the channel a joy to watch!
Excellent job. Very neat 👌 and looks fab
Smart job! Something that looks good and relatively simple to do, well I say that, but you did it 😎👍✅
Great job, on both the hallway and the video.
Fabulous job! In terms of the Ryobi kit, I’ve got the 16G nailer and 18G (Type 90/91) stapler and they are great, especially as all my cordless tools are Ryobi as well. I opted for 16G Ryobi as I’ve got a pneumatic 18G so seemed little point doubling up and bigger is always better 😉. Now get on with the workshop!! 😀
Panelling looks great
Fantastic! I’m going to do this in our bedroom - thanks for the guidelines!
smashing job....very elegant when finished.............panelling like this also works well on a ceiling - classy :)
If you paint the panelling before it goes in it gives a perfect finish and looks like your an amazing painter
Another great video. Your videos have helped me a lot as I have moved into my own place and carried out some projects. I don’t know what it is, but it always feels like a Sunday in your videos. I don’t know what I mean, but it does. Haha
Good job man! I'm gonna use yr example for a project in my mother inlaws house. Thanks man
Lovely job
Very good video, thank you for sharing!
Two videos in one day. Aren’t we lucky
Nicely done!
If it looks good, it IS good. This looks good. Nice job with the returns(base and cap rail) that you showed but didn't really mention.
Wow it’s mad how something so simple can improve a room or an area of the house. Nice work pal
Looks fantastic.
Amazing.really love it.
Lovely job good work, ive worked on a few properties that have this panelling and have decided as you have to put it in my hallway, its a great solution to high traffic areas at dado height, we too have 2 little ones running around unfortunately ours have 4 legs and seem quite fond of clawing the walls so any sort of redecoration with any wallpaper is out of the question. Brilliant and very informative video, please keep them coming 😀👍
Hi. Can you give a bit of insight into how you did the stair tread finisher. Thanks for a great video again , and the little guys really make the channel pop when they are on.
Looks quite attractive. Guess its best to look at this as a permanent fixture since removing it would require new plasterboard.
Very nice work!
Great job Tim
Looks brilliant Tim. Might have a go at this myself.
Great work❤️ have been doing the same just a different style
Small tip for the glue - it is a good idea to make the glue lines so that they are open in the top. That limits the amount of moisture that may be trapped behind the panels😊
Stunning
Stunning finish… inspiration officially received… 👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Nice video, wish I'd seen some of this before I panelled our bedroom... One comment/suggestion re the cutting of the strips - I just bought the MDF sheets in B&Q and had them cut it down to size in the store. The guy wasn't best pleased at having to cut multiple strips off each piece but it meant I didn't have to worry about trying to cut it myself.
James Kempster .............Sometimes they pretend their saw isnt working when you ask for jobs like that lol
That’s why I called them
Today to Let them know I’ll be in trmw 😂
Very nice thanks. Great job and you made it easy to follow.
Nice (family) work!
Fine work!👌🏿
Cool video - great tips I picked up !
Excellent chap 👍🏻
Cracking job, earned a sub!
top work Tim
Nice work 👍
Great video
Great job, I’m planning to do something similar. For the backing bard is there any reason why you couldn’t use 3mm instead of the 6mm mdf?
Nice job.
Good job mate 👍
Thanks Tim
Love the paneling, any advice on paneling a curved (convex) wall?
Really nice work. 👍🏼
Looks brilliant. Any ideas for the gap/joint filling.that won't crack
👏😊
Super tous en famille....
Bravo
Looks good mate
Thanks for the vid, wish you had of talked through the sanding and MDF seal part
Just about to do this in my pub shed, with the amount of views it looks like I'm not the only one 🙂
Great video thanks
Great work standard, further enhanced by excellent video production Tim. You must sleep well at night after your labours? All the best to you & your lovely family. 👏
Lovely.
NICE JOB ... !!! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Amazing video as always. Got a question, do you reckon I could get away with using standard mdf as a backer board instead of MR mdf?
Very nice job,
As a carpenter having done this a few times i Just wondered what detail you will end up with the architrave you temporarily put on ie both finishes on a flat wall “butting” into one another and looking at your finished arcs you have used elsewhere being a 18mm finish. So your cladding with a build up of 30mm in total will sit proud of your arcs that are 18mm and returning the skirting and top rail on itself is a little unsightly. So may be beneficial to increase the depth of your arcs as we do if what I am saying is indeed the case with your project all the best👍🏻
Another point I noticed is that traditionally the top and bottom rails would be morticed and tennoned into the vertical stiles at each end of a run. So the bottom and top rails should be between the left and right stiles not under / on top of them. Only a small point but it will be noticable after painting.
Great video. If you have skirtings anyway, its not easier to start with trims from the top then cut and fit same size vertical's and the last bit bottom trim + skirting. Cheers
Not easier just different.
Hi Tim, please buy yourself a grex 23g pinner. Axminster do a 24g which is also rather good. 👍
I think in future you should mask the floor before you put the panelling and skirting on, once painted, use a Stanley to cut tape out. I find it gives such a crisper paint job where it meets the floor
Very neat 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Really helpful 👍thank you
What size trim did you put on top please ? I know you had 12mm in total with your panels
If I were to take this approach, and run the mdf up to the door frames, you’ve used a total depth of 12mm, my door frames aren’t as deep as that. I could use 2 x 3mm depth mdf but probably doesn’t look as good - would you suggest replacing the door frame to accommodate?
Tim, top notch workmanship as always, what rollers do you use to apply the paint, are they foam or microfibres
type,
This is great! I love the finish. Do you happen to do this as a business as I’m looking for someone to panel some rooms for me please? Thankyou
After all that beautiful craftsmanship, I almost died when I saw the "Leyland" paint. This job deserved some Trade centre Dulux. Great work nonetheless 👍🏻
Absolutely stunning. 😱
Having done both and I know carpenters who have done both, I encourage both ways of panelling both full panels and lengths of MDF straight on the wall providing you know your walls. I wouldn't preach your way is necessarily better or it is hard to achieve a good finish by doing it what I guess you would consider the cheats way of panelling, otherwise if we were all looking to do true panelling we would all be carving it out of oak like in the 15th century! Many use panelling these days floor to ceiling for a feature wall to add interest rather than to block out cold or damp so full panels are extra work and not always required if a good finish is achievable and you use the correct materials for the job.
Question with the 2 x 6 mm MPD boards and then your skirting , how would this meet a door architrave ? 12mm + skirting would be +/- 27mm so wouldn't it sit proud of the door architrave ? . Keep the videos coming , I watch them all
Really good video. How did you attach top rail? Did you nail on an angle? Thanks
Great video, enjoying watching but make me feel so lazy.
Currently tiling kitchen floor and my knees have gone lol
...how ya fixed 😂
Shit hot FairPlay. Real pioneer showing off your skills here, can’t wait to give this a go
Love it
Good job
Thanks
