Are Syreens Any Good? - Vampire Coast Unit Focus

- The only things sweet about Syreens are their songs. A very interesting unit, Syreens are the classic example of a matchup-dependent unit: anything using magical attacks should rip through them as if they're barely even there. That said, you don't use them alone in practice. Helping out the other monstrosities in the Vampire Coast roster, they flank, debuff, and bog down - and extract their fair pound of souls along the way.

Sisters of avelorn: fetch me my longbow...proceeds to sing a horrendous duet with the syreens, playing air guitar with their bows.
Certainly the bane of ethereal units everywhere, so long as they can shoot something outside of melee at least.
have you done a video on vampire counts corpse carts? i love using them on my ghorst campaigns, them giving units essentially infinite vigour feels so completely nice on a counts army.
Nah, I've only done a small portion of the Counts roster so far. Given the slog battles vampires get into, vigor is very valuable.
“Split between PSYCH” lmao
I've been reading stats enough I can have fun with it...
@@OffToBattle makes it fun for us too!
@@Pyromaniac77777Glad to hear it since that's the idea.
Sireens are my least favorite unit in the vampire roster. They're supposed to be this unitstopping flanking meleedps unit.... but they get countered by like 60 percent of enemy units in a faction that relies on gunpowder anyways. I usually just ignore the unit depht guard are better at dps and zombies are cheaper and have more staying power.
All legitimate reasons. The melee attack isn't high enough to be a DPS unit on its own... so I stopped trying to use one on its own and results improved greatly.
Interesting unit- low MA does make it hard to use in upfront fight. Is that why its intended as a flank/rear attacker, where its low MA would be less of a hindrance?😊
Like I've said in drips and drabs, I had shockingly improved results in early game fights with a "kitchen sink" approach where Syreens are dumping Terror on top of other morale penalties, including stuff being shot. They thrive in support of other units. Mournguls are a great example, but a lot in this roster is just doomed to meh MA values unless you're using, in the main, Lore of Vampires and Danse Macabre. This roster tends to have high Weapon Damage, so the results get eye-popping when they actually hit consistently. Of course tarpitting while Hand Cannons peel a unit off Syreens works just fine.
Late replying to this but yeah, I think that's part of it, and Charge Bonus 20 is on the high side for infantry.
Pretty crappy video to be honest. Believe it or not, people can read stats and abilities of units listed in the game themselves..
Something actually useful would be what specific factions or units syreens are particularly good or bad against. Beyond the obvious "avoid magic damage". The power of units also depends massively on tactics used and other units available in the army. This is a strategy game, not mortal combat. Why would i use syreens over i.e. guns, if both deal AP damage? That would be good information and matter to whether the unit is good or not.
But none of that is in this low effort video.
I began using stat cards and emphasizing stats more because viewers ASKED me to, FYI.
I personally like the stat cards, they allow you to see different aspects of the unit- what it is good or bad at, etc.
@@kirillrivkin4842And not everything is shown in-game, that's the thing. Vampire Coast is actually very guilty of this. But that's for future videos!
