Thank you Jay for the interview. I would like to also make a special mention to our friends within the scene that have sadly passed away over the years , Kemistry, Diane Charlemagne, Daz Splash, Diane Bonney and sadly so many more. You will always be remembered for what you did for the scene. We are we. We are one.
So interesting, amazing to hear Ant’s story. I’ve been listening to all my old RAM vinyl recently and on streaming, YT etc so this popped up in my feed. Very welcome find!
So much came over in that interview. Respect for other artists, no bad words or bitterness about anyone. A real studio addict that like a lot of us old fellas struggled with the digital age and wondered if the new sound was for them. For me the Speed of sound is absolute DnB gold.
I love Ant Miles. I met him in 98 at Atomics in Maidstone when they were doing the club tour for the Sound In Motion Lp. I was there early and helped Ant hang some Ram signs around the club. He bought me a beer and I chatted to him for ages. Shimon was there on crutches and was still loving it. I got to know the Ram guys quite well at atomics whenever they were there which was pretty often.
Great interview, this. Really cool to get so much insight into the birth of Ram, Liftin Spirit & the back stories of how Ant & Andy started working together & how so many of those classic Ram tunes were born out of Ant's willingness and and love for sharing his knowledge and passion of the ways of the studio with his peers. I've been absolutely loving the Liftin Spirit & Ram Reloaded remasters. Waves of nostalgia like a tsunami. Big up Ant & Bill Vega for finding, and touching up these timeless classics & putting them back out into the world. Means the world to me to have these in a good high quality digital format to play at home
What a LEGEND. Responsible for so much, my heart bursts with love for this man and what he has done for the scene, truly legendary and so humble to boot. Responsible for honing perhaps my favourite sound with those earlier Ram and liftin spirit releases, can’t say enough.
What an awesome bloke, seems so chilled out and humble. I haven't bought any Ram since the early 2000's, the direction they went wasn't to my taste. But it's sad hearing they might be finished though.
Modern day drum n bass is a competition of how many fart noises you can get into an 8 bar loop with a generic break added on top. Add a crowd that views music like an instagram reel where anything played for more than 30 seconds leads people wondering when then F the next "drop" is gonna come - they literally get bored! It's a shell of what it used to be. But Ant packages it in a very diplomatic may :) The 90's was the heyday. Period.
Amazing stuff - Not to fan boy too much but Ant says a small cog in a big machine and the machine is vast but, what his legacy demonstrates is a pretty decent size cog in my opinion... But hey ho, humble... I'd say RAM, Ram Trilogy and Origin Unknown may have had a pretty big identity impact on the sound. Long dark tunnel reference on sensory processing I think defines D&B, hence the rave culture where you kind of 'lose it' a bit. You know? Something we all chase... Existential, it's not-not spiritual the scene.

Big ups! Ant Miles is a legend. 💯 the scene wouldn’t be like it is now without him.
What made this interview so great was the fact that you let the guest speak! Without interruption, Quite rare these days.
A great listen.
Thanks!

"I was in this long, dark tunnel, with a very, very bright light at the end; so brilliant, it was more brilliant than the sun. "

Excellent, will listen to this over the next couple of days. Cheers

That was awesome - love hearing the behind the scenes with Legends like Ant.
Big Ups Ant 👊Thanks for all the sick tunes 🙏🔥
As always another amazing interview. What a truly great person anthony is. Many thanks Jay for this.
He may not have spent much time on the floor, but my word, that man's acumen for rhythm is _par fk'n excellence_ !

Nice to hear Ant mention Hertz which is so important how a sound is Received.
Big up Ant and Jay, good interview 😇
