I agree to the second statement but not nessecarily to the first :) debut albums are legendary because they tend to have the most soul and musical innonence. While youth helps with popularity because its attractive, as as a matter of fact its realness we are "all" searching for. Musicians very often get better over time, even singers do, but their songs... Nothing of these goes for industry plant pop musicians ofc because they are not involved in the creative process except for their body parts.
