Yes I personally love cuba for the beaches too, I like low season when I can almost have the beach all to myself! And the great deals. I love the wonderful people and the safety ( I feel as if cuba is one of the safest places to visit) and the rawness of the country is something to be appreciated too and the good Cuban coffee ! ☕️ 🇹🇹🇨🇦🇨🇺
Great video ! Great tips for first time travellers to Cuba ! I have been going to Cuba twice a year for over 10 years and I love it there so much ! I went to Varadero two weeks ago and had the best week I have ever had at the Iberostar Bella Vista. The food, service and my suite were fantastic and wifi was excellent. Of coarse the beach is the reason I keep going back to this wonderful country ! Cuba has my heart and I will always go back as I say I am going to my tropical cottage 🫶🏼🏖️🐠😎
I just came back from Cuba. Stayed 7 days at Memories Caribe. The food was good, the Hotel was great, so if you go remember you are paying really cheap for a vacation, the people are amazing and don't forget to take some food to the airport because over there is really expensive and not good for the price. If you enjoy drinking a beer and tasting some snacks (like peanut) I advise you get from home. Remember bug spray and sun protector is a must in your luggage.
@@jaildofs6410 I love Cayo Coco last time I went was in 2019 before the pandemic to Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo and had a fantastic week. This time in Varadero I brought bug spray but no sign of bugs or mosquitoes anywhere it was perfect. I also always book the vip lounge at the airport to eat and drink before the flight and it’s much more comfortable to wait as well with ac and wifi. Well worth the price in my opinion. I always bring snacks in my suitcase like pringles and chocolates and give some to the house keeping friends along with tips and other gifts. I already can’t wait to go back I love going to Cuba so much ! ❤️🏖️😎
Really fair comments glad you said for people to consider why they would visit Cuba now. I hear from many that it is because of the cheaper price so this can be a problem if you are not fully aware of the current situation . Of course the beaches are beautiful and people are friendly but food, water and electricity shortages are hit and miss. You have to be chill with that possibility. I hope it will get better for the locals 😢
GM Mike, as veteran Cuba vacationer, that upload was spot on!! I noticed that you're a Sunwing Memories patron (Memories in Cayo Largo, Cayo Coco etc.) . Just wondering if you have any plans to visit Memories in Trinidad / Playa Ancon? Its been a lonnnggg time since I was there, and would love to see your walk through of the resort AND your opinion of the beach (Playa Ancon).
I have walked that beach and its amazing. We have had no real issues when we come to cuba. We love coming. Can't beat there beaches and we don't have any issues with the food.
Great info!! Went to Varadero in 2016 and yes you cannot explain how beautiful the beaches and the tropical waters are.....to get the full feel, one needs to go there and ypu will not be disappointed. Great clip my friend!
Loved it! What I always say do your research before going anywhere. I personally go to u tube watch vidoes of where i wanna go the place im thinking of staying at. Also watch a few not just one some people only put up guick videos others talk and show you around the whole place. Second.. trip advisor I love to read what people think. That being said I still go to decide for myself, cause you're always gonna get bad with good and in the end you will decide. I've read alot of bad and tried it out and loved it. But it does help to watch vidoes that determines for me if im gonna go check it out. If it wasn't for your caribe video not sure I'd check it out. But you did great on that one and im looking forward to going in January ❤
You said something that hit a nerve. I have been to several places down south. Cause I am in quebec, i followed the trend and have landed in many places surrounded by quebecers, and have had fun. However when I went to cuba last year and was surrouned by canadians from accross canada, i was MIND BLOWN!!!! Im an intravert and my wife was completely amazed by the amount of people we met and hung out with... JUST SO NICE. Great cross section, we seriously had a blast!! Aside from the beach, i think its the number 2 reason I am looking forward to heading back.
"I love a cappuccino, I love the beach, and I love hard boiled eggs" That is the most random thing to say but I must agree lol That's the one thing I love is seeing all the Canadians in Cuba, makes it feel almost like home but with sun and beaches
Agree with everything you said. No one goes to Cuba for the food, so you’ve got to go there with an open mind. The beaches are phenomenal. The staff are fantastic. Only thing I would like to suggest is, put more steps to get in and out of pools. Those tiles can be somewhat dangerous when wet. But overall thumbs up.
Went to Varadero in march at Bellacosta hotel. They renovated it and it is bright and airy. Food was good considering all the shortages like condiments & fries but we never went hungry. Lots of pork, chicken & fish. Great breakfasts & pizza. Loved the buffet on the beach everyday.
Love Cuba , its beaches and people. In Varadero check out Wacos restaurant in town great food. Recommend jumping on the double decker bus that drives the entire strip so you get to see all the resorts. Typically the nicer resorts are further away from town towards the end of the strip. And i agree to be nice to the hardworking people here. They make due with what they have to work with!! Its a beautiful place.
Great video Mike. Thanks for the tips. Since your planning to go to Varadero, would you consider going to Sol Palmeras Resort and Bungalows. They have Cuba Day once a week. Picnic outside! It's really fun and don't go crazy on cappuccino and drinks in the main lobby 😅
My Wife’s Birthday!!! Have fun!! We will be in Varadero making videos!!! Stay tuned!!!! I appreciate your comment My Belfast UK 🇬🇧 is out today!!! Check it out
Hi Mike, love the videos.I have been to Cuba several times. I am like you love the beaches and the people. My wife was raised in communist Europe and she feels like it's a homecoming. very familiar to her. I would like to know the availability of cigars in Cayo Santa Maria. Are they scarce? I haven't been to Cuba since before the pandemic and heard of huge price increase on cigars. Wondering if all cigars or only Cohiba, Trinidad are the ones affected. I like the H. Upmann myself..thanks
Much appreciate the tips. The pre-boarding requirements is new to me, i'll need to bookmark that when I get home from work. A basic first aid supply kit is also a good tip for our Christmas trip. I can definitely see the attraction to Cuba. My mother has gone at least 3-4 times, but back when your choices was only Hoguin, Veradero, and Cayo Largo i think. And in my cruise travels around thr Caribbean, i enjoy myself the most in places that embrace their local charms rather than modernize and wesernize for the sake of tourist dollars. Mexico i never really enjoyed except for my snorkeling excursions. Aruba, i didnt find it all that nice till i did an off road Jeep adventure excersion off the beaten path. I really liked St Lucia. Roatan was nice when i first visited but i started seeing infrastructure for tourism. And subsequent visits by friends and family reported its become very (overly) deceloped since.
That on line form you noted that you have to fill out in advance, is that the D'Viajeros app you can download ? And I think it has to be filled out no later than 72 hours in advance of your departure ?
Mr. Fish. As a fellow Canadian I love your honest reviews of Cuba. Keep them coming. Question..when you quote a price are they in US dollars? Do you include the flight? Thanks.
Hello , thank u so much for all the info !! Very helpful ! Have u ever been to Barcelo Solymar - u don't have any videos on that resort ... looks good - but ....? Thank u !!
Ok thanks ! Can u tell me from ur experience a resort in Cayo coco that have some sort of seafood at least shrimps ,close to the airport ,and with a very nice beach :)) thank uuu
Great video. My wife and I have been to Cuba and want to take our two kids(11 and 12). Which resort would you recommend for a family? We know what to expect with Cuba. Thanks
Hi Mike…been following your videos for quite awhile now. Going to Cuba for first time in Dec and staying at Iberostar Selection Esmeralda, do you recommend both Canadian and American money or is Canadian dollars just fine. Also, how much do you typically tip your server, housekeeper, etc. Your videos have really helped get a feel for the country. Thank you
I bring $5-$10-$20 I tip the house keepers $10-$20 for the week or more!!! Servers I like$1.00 not every drink but you'll figure it out I buy loonies off the workers and give them paper money
It’s simple really … On the other Caribbean Islands , they pay the Staff around $400 to $500 per week …sometimes less , sometimes more ! In Cuba , they pay the Staff around $36 to $40 per MONTH ! You then end up paying much less … so don’t moan and groan‼️ So give good tips there ( they need it )
@lillianliber1798 You have to get it from the pharmacist in advance. It consists of 2 doses taken about a week apart. It is expensive, about $50 last I checked. ( in Canada). Does work. Never had any stomach issues when I use it. Definitely recommend it if you are going to a place where you can't drink the water. Or even if you like salads washed in the water.
i've been going to cuba for almost 30 years never got sick once on food ,i always tell people that not the same experience in other countries i've been to like DR for instance, seen myself and other canadians sick for day because of the food. so selection might not always seem to be the best in cuba you'll always be safe of course you have to take in account if you eat outside resorts to be extra vigilant
we are just back from memories flamenco cayo coco besides the beach it's a real dump smell of mold in the rooms dirty restaurants no mix repetitive food false advertisements no pizza or burgers in a few words I will never set my foot there again what a rip off

Maybe like $100-$300
It depends on how you feel!!!!
Bring lots of $5
And trade them for looney and tooneys
Much appreciated! Love your videos by the way. Can't wait to see those amazing beaches in person. Thanks
How many times have you been there?!
35-36 times to cuba
9 last year
Is it ok to tip with Canadian currency or do they prefer American?
Yes absolutely!!!
CDN or USD
Both amazing
Thank you!
And if you are an old fart like me, make sure you bring your reading glasses, and maybe consider a dose of dukoral before coming to Cuba.
