Hi, thank you for your comment. I believe you might be comparing the current interest rates to last year's hyperinflation numbers. I have come across articles where investment experts suggest that they are not directly comparable as these hyperinflation numbers are unusual. Taking the example of Sri Lanka, the current inflation rate is around 1% year-on-year in October 2023, whereas you can potentially achieve around 15% from a unit trust money market fund.
Regarding the U.S. market, my understanding is that the recent increase in U.S. federal treasury rates was aimed at controlling inflation. Historically, the U.S. has had lower interest rates, which is why many U.S. investments are made outside the country, unless they involve stocks. This is my understanding.

What do you mean by New Scam? Unit Trust is an approved investment vehicle which is approved & monitored by Security Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka. I agree that currently Sri Lankan economy is not doing well but there are always opportunities bro.
